Mencap is a charity that runs a day breaks scheme for parents with mentally challenged children. The scheme looks after the children in the Easter and summer holidays and is run on a day-to-day basis. It costs £5 for the children to be looked after on a normal day. When I say normal I mean a day where they children are not being taken out anywhere such as horse riding. Each child is looked after on a one to one basis. For every child there is a helper. The day is 9.30 till 3.30 and the children are supervised at all times. The helpers do get a lunch break (this is a blessing after being on your feet all day), which is 30 minutes long for lunch.
