Advantages: Gives disabled people a lifeline

Disadvantages: Individual disabilities are not taken into account, Not enough disabled people used as Motability consultants, Costly bills likely if you have a disability where aids are essential for mobility

If you are severly disabled, like myself be very wary of Motability's terms & conditions.

If like me you rely on a wheelchhair for full mobility, the chances are that the car that you use is going to become damaged.

Steeles in Worthing sold me last motability vehicle. Due to the damage that my wheelchair has caused getting in and outof the car, they are stoppig my getting another vehicle.

To make matters worse, Steeles are 'Motability Accredited' and having seen me getting in and out of a vehicle several times, never advised me to protect the vehicle in any way.

Be warned that before youu choose a car from a motability accredited dealer, that they assess you fully, otherwise YOU will be left with a fight on your hand to have another vehicle after the three years of the lease have expired.

Motability state and I quote 'Customer First'. Take it from a disabled person Motability and their network of dealers look after themselves FIRST. There are many degrees of disability, yet this is not taken into account by Motability. A car is my lifeline without it I am stuck, yet Motability and the dealer seem not to care about this at all. In there opinion I have damaged the vehicle, yet all I have done is live my day to day life, but I am being punished for this.

In my opinion there should be more disabled people used by accredited car dealers, it makes sense, even with training an able bodied person will never have a real picture of what a disabled person has to go through every day of their lives.

My message to Motability is Accredited Garages should have a disabled person as their consultant, think of the disabled people that would get back into employment.

After all there over 4000 accredited Motability dealers, it ould be interesting to know what percentage of these have a disa
bled person as the Motability consultant.
<
br>I know that I am not the only person that has a griev
ance like this, I am being blackmailed by Motability and the Dealer Steeles. Unless the car goes back to them in anything less the showroom condition than they will stop me getting a car, unless I pay for the damages, thus stopping me living my life.

Don't forget that at the end of the lease the dealer has the opportunity of buying back the vehicle and selling it on. It's no wonder that they want the car in showroom condition. If their Motability experts had advised me correctly in the first place, I would not be in this situation now.

All I wanted was a car to live my life, now I am being penalised for being in a wheelchair, after all it's such an easy life already?

Help me fight this battle visit the Steeles website at www.steeles.co.uk and let them know that you think victimising severley disabled people is wrong.

The Managing Director, Mr Alan Steele laughed at me when we discussed the situation he thinks that it is funny that he is making my life extremely difficult and to be honest unliveable.

I have a witness to that as well.

Hi I really am shocked at the treatment you are getting from the dealer and motability. I came across your opinion after you left a comment on my opinion of motability. I would just like to reply to the comment you left if I may. You said I was afraid to list the pitfalls of motability and what happens when the car is returned. You never rated my opinion which is fair enough but I really feel you should know that, I cannot list any pitfalls of motability if I have not had any, I'm not afraid to voice my opinion and that is what I did based on MY experience, my last car was damaged, after I had paid the first £75 costs towards repairs the insurance paid the rest. I honestly have had no problems or complaints and due to this I can hardly write something that I know nothing about. I thought I should clear that up with you.

On a very different note. I really am disgusted by your current situation and would like to help you in any way I can. If you send me an email with your details on and the details of the dealer I will gladly contact them in your support, if you like I will also contact motability, expressing my disgust at your treatment. My email address is in my profile. You should NOT have to put up with this treatment.
