Advantages: Games and crafts

Disadvantages: Only an hour!

Rainbow Guides is a club that little girls can do before they are old enough to join Brownie Guides. They can start from their 5th birthday, and usually move up to Brownies the term after they are seven.

It is for girls only, which is quite nice for this age group, when the girls are often slightly more mature than boys of the same age, and more able to concentrate too. Hmm, maybe that doesn't just apply to 5 and 6 year olds?

The group that my daughter goes to meets once a week for an hour, in the local Guide Hut. There are about 10 children and 2 adults.

Typically they play games, do some kind of craft activity, and sing some songs.

They all make the Rainbow promise -

"I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful."

They wear a tabard over their clothes - you don't have to fork out for a whole uniform at this stage! It costs £2.50 a session.

There is more information on the girlguide website -

My daughter really enjoys going.

Summary: A sweet little club for young girls
