I have had sky tv installed ever since i moved into my own house about 3-4 years ago, the house i moved into already had a sky dish and all the cabling so all i needed to do was ring up sky, order a box and set up a account which was simple enough.
It was all completed within 1-2 weeks and we where soon up and running.
I love sky and all the channels it has to offer, but i do think what you pay each month is a little pricey,our bill was about £40 each month, and what for -endless channels that where completely useless and kept playing repeats of programme's from about 3 years ago. It does have it's upsides though, with the wide range of movie, music and comedy channels.
When we moved house about a year ago, it didn't have a sky dish, or anything so we had to ring up sky and ask for a technician to come and fit everything necessary, this is where the poor service and rudeness comes into sky-
We had to wait three weeks before anybody could come out, and when somebody finally did turn up, his attitude was rather abrupt, to put it into context he said that to receive a signal we would have to chop down a very large tree in our back garden, which we thought was a bit odd?? as i have seem plenty of houses with woods around them and being able to recive a signal?? It just seemed that he didn't want to do the job and left saying to ring when the tree had been chopped down, so in the end we chopped half of the tree down and thought it would suffice.
He came back within a week and agreed to put up the dish, and never in my life have i seen such shoddy workmanship, everything was wonky, he left bits of cable, sawdust and screws lieing about. And after all the mither of saying that we had to chop down the tree he managed to get a signal from only half way up the house, and then said that he could of got a signal with the tree still being there.
When he left we where fuming to say the least, and rang up sky to express our anger,they weren't very helpful to say the least and explained that all engineers where self employed and that we should take the matter up with them. I said that wouldn't do and threated to take legal action, upon hearing that they soon backed down and offered us two months free sky, to keep the peace we agreed.
When sky launched 'sky plus' an extra option to which you can record all program's, and watch them at a later date etc. we thought this sounded great and i rang up and inquired how much it would be- nearly £200. So we left it, only to find out that they where giving 'sky plus' away free to new customers- which just shows how much they look after there existing customers.

As much i enjoy watching sky, i have to say behind the scenes, is a joke, there level of customer service is poor, and to get through to a operater takes you about 20 minutes, then if you haven't got through to the right one, it takes another 10 minutes. If you ring there main number there is a variety of options to press to get through to different areas, and it's very cunning how option 1 seems to be ' make a payment' press this one and you get through within a matter of seconds, pree another option however, to make a complaint, or to tell them something is wrong and it takes forever.
I know like other companies they like to make money, but please treat your customers with a little respect once in while, at the end of the day, we all the ones who pay your wages and keep you in a job.
