Advantages: Tons of channels, reliability, high customer base, ease of use.

Disadvantages: Weather dependant, costly calls to CS, no On Demand,.

Satellite TV is the biggest supplier of Pay-Digital TV in the UK, and Sky has the stranglehold on that very market.

With around 9.5m Customers, there is no doubting it is the clear winner in the race for subscribers, with its nearest rival, Cable operator, Virgin Media, operating with around 3.5m, however, Cable is the Number One choice in areas that are Cable-enabled.

Sky, as mentioned before, offers Satellite TV and Interactive TV services as long as their Dish is in line, with no blockage (IE, Buildings, Trees, etc).

Sky offers you a choice of 2, 4 or 6 Mixes, broken down into packages of different Genres. Just over 700 TV and Radio channels are available altogether, 89 of them are radio channels, 50 timeshift channels (like Living +1, etc) and 32 HD channel (these require a HD Box to operate.) The first pack, available to all, is the Free-to-View pack. These dont cost anything, and are distributed to any box on the network with a satellite. The rest are the Variety Pack, Music Pack, News & Events Pack, Children's Pack, Knowledge Pack and Style & Culture Pack. On top of them, are the optional Premius of Movies and Sports.

At the moment, Im finding it hard to find concrete information on Prices, given they will be changing again in April. However, having the selection means you get what you consider value for money.

All those channels mean there will more than likely be something on to watch all the time. However, Sky TV doesnt offer an On Demand function, which is a shame.

The quality can deteriorate during storms, and you have to pay for the calls to Customer Services, but all in all, it isnt a bad service.

Summary: Worth it if your a TV addicted.
