Advantages: Great support.

Disadvantages: None

This is under magazine titles purely because I couldn't find online-slimming clubs but also because they do send a newsletter so it is kind of a magazine club ;)
Right allslimmers.com have you heard of them? No well let me tell you how I came about finding this excellent site.

Reading my latest issue of chat, which happens to be a spring special on diet and fitness, they listed a lot of helpful websites to help you shift those pounds of extra weight. Yeah yeah I thought another website introducing a great weight loss scheme and support (?) !! This was questionable because usually these sort of clubs either are very complicated giving ridiculous diets to follow (what do you mean a lettuce leaf isn’t enough?) or expect you to pay the earth in registration fees.

So how is this site better? Well firstly and I say firstly because this is surely our main priority and that is it’s FREE, so that is a bonus…Secondly it is easy to understand and navigate (must be for me to get it!)

So what happens?

You get to this site through the URL: www.realslimmers.com and immediately you will come to a homepage, introducing their selves.

These list as following:

Meet our slimmers
How do I start?
The diets
Success stories
Better eating
Message boards
Health calcuators
Newsletter
Meet the experts
Advice centre
Get active
Recipes
Slimming news
My page

So what category does what then?

Meet our slimmers.

. This is so you can pick out a slimmer say…. Susan 5ft 8in weighs 13 stone wants to lose 2 stone, read her diet and progress. From this it will tell you her diet, calorie count and the success she is having so far. With lots of helpful hints from ‘Susan’ and other members, including the directors of the site. I find this part of the site really helpful because if you are having trouble deciding which di
et is for you then you can easily try to match yourself with another slimmer similar in build and height, weight etc and follow their diet.

How do I start?

Well to start couldn’t be easier all you have to do is have a look around the site to get a feel for it, then if you like what you see then join up, to join up you will be asked several questions such as weight (you can have metric or imperial) height, chest, bust and hip sizes, and how active are you.

This will then come up with a calorie count on a daily basis, and personalise a page for you. I like this because it is set over a period of 12 weeks and all you have to do is (honestly!!) record in your weight and measurements each week. They will do the rest.

The diets

This is a section where you can get a guide to how many calories you should be eating and what foods have what in also lists a great range of recipe’s to suit your individual diet.

Success stories.

This has all the great stories where people have achieved their weight loss and maintained their weight after (the hardest thing to do!) and generally tells stories of REAL people.

Better eating

This gives lots of useful, handy tips and also aids you towards a healthier eating lifestyle in a non lecture way. Will answer any questions
That you have in a friendly way.
Food tips.
>Fat tips
>Food labels
>Shape up tips
>Diet myths
>Keeping the weight off
>Eating out tips
>Stop yo-yoing

Message boards.

This is the best part of the site! This a forum where you can either advertise for a diet buddy, find a friend or just get some moral support when the craving’s set in. They also have a section amongst the forum where you can leave details about yourself and others can e-mail you with support or whatever you like.

In the community, there are the following options.

Support bud
dies
Cravers
40-somethings
Tips
20-somethings
Other boards

Health Calculators.

The calculator ask’s you to put in your weight and height and then comes up with a body mass total and then asks you how much you want to lose, I think it would suggest otherwise too if you were aiming to high or low. Which is helpful without being intrusive.

Newsletter.

This you can sign up for to receive on a weekly basis through your e-mail account. This is full of helpful hints, new recipes and bundles of moral support.

Meet the experts.

This part lists whose whom on the site, giving why they are who they are and how they can help you. There is a photo next to each person giving it that less formal approach and more friendly. All the experts are trained dieticians and you can e-mail them at anytime which feels very reassuring when you feel like lapsing.

Advice centre.

This is the very core of the site where you can ask questions and get advice from almost anyone at anytime. Easy to navigate and very approachable this is a great part of the site. It is very medically minded and if you have any health niggles then this is the place to come.

Get active.

Well we all know that dieting is okay but without exercise we might as well forget it or (at least some of it). This is the part which goes into great depth on exercise with lots of helpful, easy exercises for a great variation of people, from running and how many calories you burn to gentle yoga and floor exercises.

I found this really helpful and again knowing someone would answer any queries I had was really reassuring to me.

There is a little box nearby with the following options.
Shape up.
>Bottom friendly
>Shoulder definer (?)
>Breasts best friend
>Lower back love
>Stomach toning

Recipes.

T
hese are very similar to the diets section although it goes into a lot more depth. So if you want Chicken then there are loads of different fat-free variations as with vegetarian and other foods that take your individual fancy. They list the nutritional content, calories and even hidden ingredients that I sure hadn’t given a thought to.

Slimming news.

I found this very similar to the newsletter but I suppose it is for those who do not subscribe to it and want to hear what’s going on. This lists what’s new in the community and what’s been happening around the world in the way of diets.

Last but not least,

My page.

This is your own custom designed page where you can record everything about yourself to help you on your diet and record all your measurements on a week-to-week basis.

All in all this site is fantastic, for those who either don’t fancy going out to lose weight but still need professional guidance or those who like to lose weight in the privacy of their home without the intense pressure that others can inflict.

I think you will all really enjoy this site so get there now and start that diet you keep putting off.

What an excellent op!, well worth a crown. I've been keep meaning to go on a diet for quite some time now ever since i gave up my gym frenzy last year. This looks like a really good web site though and very helpful. Only question is though, can guys use it aswell as girls?. You mentioned something in the op about giving bust size and hip size and stuff. I take it guys can enter details too?. Well i'll check it out. Great op. Colin.
