Advantages: Being able to achieve the dream of a slimmer me - and actually enjoying the journey as I go!!

Disadvantages: Can't think of a single one!

I joined Slimming World and no less that 12 weeks later I had achieved my 2 stone award. Having spent my entire life overweight and trying anything and everything to get thin I braved a slimming club and nearly cried when I realised I'd found the answer after 20 years.

The food plans are so easy to follow. I couldn't believe that I could still enjoy nights out with the girls, romantic dinners with my boyfriend and weekends away whilst being on a diet. Well, they don't call it a diet, it's a healthy eating plan but I have to say that diets for me often meant that I constantly had a rumbling tummy! With this, I have never eaten so much in my life!

The weekly groups are amazing - I was petrified the first time I went in thinking of Little Britain (etc!) but it was nothing like that. Everyone was so nice, but more importantly, everyone was just like me and knew what it was like to suffer when you are overweight.

Also, another massive thing for me was when I found out that no-one except me and the weigh lady knows my actual weight. I couldn't have stuck it if everyone in the group knew. In fact I know I wouldn't even have gotten through the door!

The fee's now are £4.50 per week which I think is a bargain for what you get. I sometimes buy 'Countdowns' and get 12 weeks for the price of 10. I find this easier at times like Xmas when everyones skint!!

My consultant is really supportive and other key members of my group are what they call lifelines for me to ring if I get stuck.
And also each week I get a password for a dedicated members website which has masses of recipes and ideas and also plots a chart of all my successes. It's great. From what I understand my mums friend did Weightwatchers and they charge an extra £20 on top of your weekly fee for access to their special website!!

We have a right laugh and there are weekly raffles and sometimes there are competitions to enter in the group. For me my group is like a second home!

I might sound like I am gushing about it, but I make no apologies! Slimming World has given me my life and health back. I am happier, healthier, confident, and managing to wear trendy clothes for the first time ever.

The nicest thing about it is that I have made the decisions all the way through. I decided what I eat and when, I decide how quickly or slowly I lose weight and I even decide how much I want my target weight to be. (None of this measuring my height on a chart and telling me what I should be!! I've alsways been 6 inches too short for my weight!!)
I am now half way to my target and I know I will get there this year. Once I am there I don't have to pay whilst I remain at target weight. I think I will still go along each week to keep me focused.

I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you have decided that the time is right for you to take charge of your life and lose some weight you don't want then get yourself to your nearest Slimming World group today!!
