Advantages: Tasty Diet (Incl.Crisps/Choc!)Good Weight Loss
Disadvantages: Classes bored me.
The Diet is good, you can still have crisps/chocs and weight loss does happen - usually 4/5lbs the first week then 2/3lbs a week loss. You need to become a member of your local group which meets once a week whre you are weighed, your weight is recorded on a card that you keep and you can puchase diet recipes -which actually were very nuce particularly the coronation chicken, unbelievably tasty for a low-fat high protein meal. The diet itself is based on the premise that we should not mix charbohydrates and protein and the diet is organised on days of protein eating (red days) and charb. days (green days) a book is given which clearly illustrates which foods fall within each group and beyond this what you can and cannot eat.Every day you are allowed a treat, for me this was crisps or chocolate - important because psychologically I didn't feel I was actually dieting. The group has a joining fee (then £10) and so much each week (then £3) each week all members are weighed and awards given to the best weight losses. I left this to go to Rosemary Connely's where I found the weekly aerobics brilliant and really motivating in getting 'up & running' but I preferred the diet at Slimming World, I found the weekly meeting of 20+ people talking lbs and 'fat' a bit boring. I think all diets suit different people in different ways and you need to find the one that suits you best with the group of people that you feel at home with, If you haven't tried this diet yet it is definitely worth a go!!

- 04/10/00 I stuck to the Slimming World diet religiously - my friend, who went with me to classes, swears she did too. We both gained weight. In the end, we got fed up with the sarcastic comments of the class leader and defected to Weightwatchers. |
