Advantages: Eat and eat and eat lol
Disadvantages: WIND
I have been a weight watcher for many a year and lost weight only to put it back on again in a vicious cycle. Weight watchers was my preferred group when i felt it was time to try again to battle the bulge but a week and 2 days ago i had a bad experience with a dress.................
In my much younger years I was a carnival queen..... And my wonderful mummy in her well meaning way found my old carnival dress and bought it round. 'Try it on' she says and I know what will happen so I tell her I will do later. The house was empty and quiet so I tried that fateful dress on. Yep, the zip has about a 4cm gap!!!!!!!! I am officially huge (about a size 18 in real terms) - 3 pregnancies has ruined my figure. Suddenly something rattled in my brain. When i had undertaken my role as carnival queen i had been a size 14 and this dress was around a 10 or 12. I had dieted at that time and the diet I had chosen was SLIMMING WORLD.
Then and there I looked for a meeting on their website. I entered my postcode and up popped the meetings locally to me and with directions and the consultants name and phone number. This was a Sunday. The meeting I chose was 10am on Monday at a hall around a 10 minute walk from my house. I noticed an option to join online for a very reasonable fee but from what i could tell the group's 'image therapy' was an important aspect to the diet, although at this point I had no idea what it was!.
Monday morning came and I rang the consultant to warn her i was coming! At 10am i walked through the doors and the consultant immediately approached me and asked if i was Natalie. Yes I told her and she instructed me to fill in a new member sheet. Just basics like name, address, age, height etc. I then went to the desk to pay and as it was half-price registration the total cost was £9 summit. I also bought some hi-fi bars which i'll tell you about later ;)
The meeting started soon after and I soon found out what 'image therapy' was. Each member talks about their loss or gain from the week and discuss ideas for the week ahead. A massive difference to WW here is that at WW you sit in a class format facing the consultant who gives a talk (think fat fighters, little britain ha ha) but at SW you sit in a half circle with a table full of info on the plan and books to look at in the centre and the consultant is more of a guide........ Much nicer I think! And much more of a supportive environment.
We also had a raffle and slimmer of the week took her basket of fruit (each week you take a piece of fruit for the slimmer of the week and a tinned/packaged item for the raffle) and I won a tin of pilchards in tomato sauce lol.
I left that meeting thinking that I really was going to be the only person this diet did not work for and I spent the whole week trying to prove it by gorging and eating non-stop but keeping to the plan! I found joessausages.co.uk who do syn free (on red) sausages, burgers and marinated chicken and i did not have one moment that week in which I was not stuffing my face lol!!!!!!!!!!!!
Week 1:
On Monday morning I awoke to go to my meeting. I arrived there again and recognised lots of faces and received plenty of smiles and questions about how I had done. I paid my weekly fee (£1 cheaper than ww!!! @4.50 - meaning you save £52 a year lol) and stepped on the scales. It seems I was wrong. This diet obviously did work I HAD LOST 6LB omg i was dancing around the room. In image therapy I told them about my face shoving that week and they all laughed.
I don't know how this diet works, but it does. And I much prefer it to WW as I can eat and eat and eat and eat until i BURST!!!!!!!!! You chose your red or green day and your 2 healthy extra a's and 2 b's (hi-fi bars are a b choice and are lovely 'mint chocolate' and 'lemon mousse' mmmmmmmmmmm) and then you eat and eat! SIMPLE lol - a lot of the reviews before mine tell you about the eating plan.
I will update this review on a weekly basis (prob a tue/wed) to let you all know my progress.
Week 2
9TH March - walked to my meeting, jumped on the scales, and had lost............2.5lb!!!! Total loss at end of 2nd week 8.5lbs!!! Got my half stone sticker and a slimmer of the week sticker plus got to take home the big basket of fruit!!!!
Week 6
15th April. - i missed my last 2 wi's due to bank hols and child illness but at my 4 wk weigh in i had lost 11.5lb in 4 weeks and got a slimmer of the week and a slimmer of the month award! I have lost in the past 2 weeks but next weigh in is in 5 days! Will update as and when i get a chance :)
Summary: omg this is amazing
