As a self confessed chocoholic and food lover I am never going to be a size 8,however when me and hubby to be finally set our date for wedding I decided it was time I did something about the several spare tyres I had on my belly.I have always enjoyed my food a little bit too much but since having my children my weight has got seriously out of control...since having my youngest 7 years ago I have tried every diet going,the cabbage soup,honey and lemon,atkins,weight watchers,slim fast etc,I found weight watchers to hard with constant counting,atkins made my head hurt and the rest were so faddy I gave up after a few days.I did slimming world several years back and lost 2 stone in 8 weeks so I decided I could do it just as well at home and save £5 a week.It wasn`t long before the weight started to creep back on untill I weighed alot more than when I had started.
So this time I was determined to do it right!!
I found my meeting by going on slimming world website,you just type your postcode in and up pop all the nearest meetings to you.I took my mum with me and some friends but I was still really nervous,its like starting school again walking into a room full of people you don`t know,our consultant Michelle soon put us at ease thou as did every one else. Michelle took us to one side and explained all about the plan which had changed slightly since I`d last done it.
You have red,green or extra easy days on each day you get healthy extras a and b choices,how many depends on what plan your following,also you get between 5 and 15 syns a day these are for extra little bits you may want with your meal or just for a treat.
On a red day you can eat as much meat as you like but things like potato`s,pasta or rice have to be measured and used as a healthy extra.
On green you can eat unlimited potato,pasta and rice but measure your meat as an extra.
Extra easy is the new one and on this you can eat unlimited amounts of meat and potato`s etc.
On all plans most veg,fruit and salad are classed as super free foods which means eat as much as you want when ever you want,also foods such as eggs, fat free yogurt,fat free cottage cheese are free too.
I was very sceptical about the extra easy plan as I couldn`t see how it would work however so far it seems to be.
Back to the meeting..we get weighed and then Michelle goes round us all with all the group congratulating us if we have lost weight and offering support and advice if we`ve gained.Theres a raffle at every meeting with the prize been something healthy that will help us out,then its time for slimmer of the week to be awarded,everyone takes a piece of fruit with them and slimmer of week takes it all.Also you get awards for every half stone you lose,an award when you`ve lost 10% of your body weight and when you`ve reached your target weight you get free membership for life as long as you stay within 3 lbs of that weight.
So far I`m finding it easy to stick to,I never get hungry a typical day goes like this..throughout day I will have unlimited black coffee and flavoured water,breakfast-a banana and a muller light yogurt,dinner-a large jacket potato crammed with salad,fat free dressing and grated cheese from my healthy a choice,tea- chicken curry and rice(made from scratch) and an apple,snacks-an alpen light cereal bar which is a healthy extra b choice,the choc and fudge one is delicious.
So far I have lost 1 stone and 7 1/2 pounds not bad to say i`ve only been going for 6 weeks.Only another ** to lose.
Starting weight 22 stone 13.5 lb
week 2 loss.. 5 an half lb
week 3 loss.. 8lb won slimmer of week and got my half stone award
week 4 loss 2 lb got my stone award
week 5 loss 2 an half pound won slimmer of week
week 6 loss 3 an half lb won slimmer of week and got my stone and half award
week 7 loss 4 an a half won slimmer of the week
week 8 loss 1 an half pound
week 9 loss 1 an half pound got my 2 stone award
