Advantages: Lovable, Affectionate, Rewarding

Disadvantages: Disease is misunderstood, FIV cats must stay indoors, That means you need a litter tray!

FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is very misunderstood by people. Yes, it's like a feline HIV, but that doesn't mean us humans will get AIDS from these cats! I have adopted three FIV cats from the Dundonald Cats Protection Shelter, Northern Ireland, and I have to say they're the most affectionate cats I have ever had. In theory they are slightly more likely to be sick, but I have not found this in practice. My cats are friendly, healthy and very lovable. It's so sad that Northern Ireland people seem to be afraid of cats in general and of FIV in particular. It's not transferable to humans! I would recommend an FIV cat for anyone who would like an indoor cat, as they should be kept away from other cats. Cats are the most remarkable animals, and FIV cats are the best of the best!

Im happy to see someone fighting the corner of fiv+ cats. I was the proud owner of 2 fiv cat who both live long and mostly heathy lives they were 18 and 16 when they passed away. bar keeping them indoors and making sure even small infections are treated straight away there is no reason for any not to adopt them. some vet will instantly put to sleep any cats with fiv happily my vet is dead against it and will rehome any that the owner does not want.

Hello! I'm another cat fanatic. :-)

I totally agree with you that FIV cats can make wonderful pets. We've rehomed several and they've been the best natured of all our rescue cats for some strange reason. As long as people remember to keep them separate from non-FIV positive cats and have even minor health problems treated as soon as possible, so that they don't become more serious or even fatal conditions.

As others have said, you could do with adding just a wee bit more about the CPL itself to make this op more useful.

I love hearing about cats, so would love to read more from you. :-)

Hi, being 'daft' about cats, I would also like to read more, so please add some (and/or write some more reviews).

I note that yoiu claim the people in Northern Ireland are "afraid of cats in general". Er .. Do they still burn witches ...?
