Trocaire is an Irish oversees aid agency set up just over 27 years ago by Irish Catholic Bishops to help ease suffering in under-privileged and under-developed countries abroad. Many people living in mainland UK will not have heard of Trocaire, but most dooyooers living in Ireland both North and South will know who they are. They are highly respected and well acknowledged for the work that they do. For as long as I can remember, I have had a Trocaire Lenten box on my kitchen windowsill every lent.
