Advantages: Helpful, friendly leaders. Plenty of literature and information
Disadvantages: weekly fee can add up, but then thats an incentive to lose weight
Weighwatchers is fantastic.
I lost 3 stone over a 6 month period, 4 years ago and have juist about managed to keep it off - bar a few pounds. You will need your head in the right frame of mind.
I attended weekly meetings which you do have to pay around a fiver for, but you get a lot of information and when you do reach your gold weight, you can return for free and still get all the information.
The meetings are really helpful and help to focus your mind each week. You get weighed and then you can stay and the leader will chat about ideas for weightloss, tips, recipes and general boosting. They are always kind and never belittle you in any way. I would definately advocate staying to the meetings. It really does help focus your mind and make you think about the week ahead. It also helps to break up the week and makes you take each day at a time. The thought of loosing 3 stone is quite daunting, but 1lb a week is perfectly achieveable. If you stick to the plan, you'll no doubt loose weight. If you don't there is only one person who will disappointed and thats yourself.
If you attend meetings they also have a good range of bars and snacks you can buy for the week as well as publications. You can also buy the Weight Watchers magazine at a reduced price.
I haven't used there online facility but it appears to be quite informative and if you have the discipline to weight yourself once a week and have your own meetings then go for it.
I have a couple of their cookbooks and often use recipes from the magazines, it always amazes me how much you can eat and still loose weight.
Anyone looking to loose weight should sign up. Once your mind is in the right place, its a great help.
Summary: Why wouldn't anyone needing to lose weight try this.
