Advantages: Easy to follow

Disadvantages: Lack of structure, Long term and expensive investment!

I have been a member of weight watchers on & off for the past 10 years. Having successfully slimmed from more than 13 stone to 9 on TWO occasions (yoyo anyone?).
Anyway I would urge anybody who needs to kick start their dieting habits to go to Weight Watchers. The basic system is that you are allocated so many points a day depending on age, starting weight & sex. Most people start at around 20 points. Each food is given a points total i.e bread is 1.5 points per slice & most veggies are NIL points. Although the idea is good one the main problem as far as I can see it is that it is tempting NOT to follow a balanced diet & use your point any old how.

Of course Weight Watchers do give you advice at the meeting talks,however many of these seem to be promoting products & not actually educating your mind into healthy eating. This I do stress depends on your 'leader'. I've had some leaders who appreciate that you want to here about healthy eating & cheap alternatives to the Heinz stuff. Whilst others want to screw you for as much extra comission as they can :-/

My biggest problem with Weight Watchers is the after care service. Once you have reached goal that's it. Weight Watchers really don't want to know. Am I being cynical or is this down to the fact stay within your target weight and you don't have to pay them anything?

If you can afford it - at £4 a class it ain't cheap. Then give it go, however if you have bags of self discipline & will power you are better off buying their 'points' books and doing it yourself.
