Advantages: Comprehensive and easy to use
Disadvantages: Having to scroll down the food list
As I embark upon yet another diet, I am using the Weightwatcher's Database which I ordered from their magazine. It is small, neat enough to fit into your handbag and is brilliant. You type in the calories, fat content and it works out how many points in that particular food. I know that if you attend the classes you get a calculator card, but as I don't want to spend £4.25 a week just to get the card, this seems to be the solution. It has a comprehensive list of the most common foods, with sub-categories which is really useful. The gadget also doubles as a caluclator and has a snap down lid. It makes it so easy to work out your days allowance as you can tap in the total amount of points you allow yourself for the day and deduct them as you go along. The only thing I have found a nuisance is that when you look at the list of food products you have to scroll through them all to reach the one you want which is a pain. There is a list of no-point foods and all the foods are listed in either 100 gram amounts or they mention eg an average steak stating the weight. Having the calculator facility means no bits of paper working it all out. A very good buy - but will it help my willpower??????

- 14/07/00 I use the CD rom from WW. That has the database as well, and it's terrific. The CD cost about £40.00 but that's only ten visits to a WW club, and I have the CD forever. |
