      Very helpful

      Don't bother

I recently moved to a new area and although able to receive channels on my television, they frequently broke up and I decided to invest in a signal booster to see if that does the trick and improves my picture.

I visited my local Curry's and picked up a brand I knew, One For All, better known for making universal remote controls but they make a variety of audio - visual equipment. In actual fact this was the only signal booster this large branch of Curry's stocked, which was surprising but meant I didn't have much choice.

I paid £15.99 in store for this, though I've since noticed you can get it a pound or two cheaper on Amazon, but then you pay postage so I guess it evens out. Plus, I wanted it now!

I got home and immediately tried it out. The unit came with minimal instructions, but is very simple to install. Simply plus one end of the aerial lead into the wall and the other into the booster, then pop the included lead from the TV to the booster, plug the booster into a normal 3 pin power socket and you're ready to go.

The booster claims to UHF, VHF and FM signals by three times, in compatible with analogue, digital and Sky television, and prevents poor picture.

In my experience these claims simply are not true. Well not in my case. Without the aerial booster, I received intermittent normal picture - broken up picture, with the booster I received somewhere between broken up picture, severely broken up picture and loud hiss to no signal at all. So not only did it not improve the picture, it made it worse.

I did try unplugging and reinstalling, I even changed the aerial cable for another but no joy, this this just made things worse.

I'm disappointed as it was a brand I knew, but I won't be recommending one of these to anyone.
