This product is an add on to the Playstation 3, therefore you must have a Playstation 3 to use this product. I am not a very technical person, therefore I have written my view on this product as myself an average mummy, rather than a computer whiz, because with the technics I haven't got a clue. The PlayTV is one of the best accessories for a games console I've ever seen. A USB freeview tuner that gives your PS3 the ability to watch terrestrial digital TV broadcasts. The Play TV box connects to a Playstation 3 via one of the USB ports at the front and basically turns your PS3 into a freeview+ box. The set up is very easy, you insert a disc to install the software onto your playstation and after that follow the onscreen instructions - and then Play TV does the rest, searching for and storing the freeview channels available. "Watch, pause and rewind live TV" says the ads. It certainly does all of this but I dont believe it does it all that well. I bought it when it came out hoping to use it to record all those late night programmes or programmes that were on at the same time as each other. It is simple to set up and forms part of your X media bar. Navigation is also pretty good. Recording is easy, simply highlight your programme and press a button. You can set it to record a few minutes before and after incase it runs on and will even turn off your ps3 when its finished.
