I think this play tv tuner is of great design and i believe that the only flaw with it is not with the unit or software itself, but the playstation 3 console. I have concerns about leaving my console on for such a period of time to watch tv with and as such i do no use this tuner very often other than to watch and record the formula one.
With play TV you are able to record live freeview TV directly to your ps3 hard drive, you can not however export the video to be used on another device such as a pc as the information is encoded.
As i'm sure many of you who are reading this would like the device to record your favorite movies when they are on TV, yes you can, but they stay on your ps3. The only alternative is to copy the date from one ps3 to another but this only works if you also have play TV on this system.
The tuner itself is fairly small and quite attractive looking and it is very simple to set up. Your TV Ariel goes in one end of the play TV unit and it then connects via USB to a spare USB port on your playstation 3.
