Bic Disposable Razors
This is a review for the men's Bic razors.
When my boyfriend broke his leg, I ended up buying him lots of toiletries because he was in hospital longer than expected. Amongst them was a pack of Bic razors.
I'm a fan of disposable Bic razors (although I'd never bought the men's razors before), so I thought that they'd be a good choice. They're also cheaper than the women's razors at around £1-2 per pack. You get ten in a pack, so I thought they'd keep him going for a while.
Initially I had no qualms about them as Bic is a brand name I trust. The razors aren't particularly attractive, being a yellowy/orange colour. Each razor comes with a small plastic protector on top to hide the blade away. It might be my imagination, but I'm fairly sure these are a bit longer in length than the Bic's women's razors, and the handles are a bit thicker. They come in simple, thin plastic packaging which is basically just a packet.
I do find that the women's Bic razors cut really well, and my concern was that my boyfriend would end up cutting his face to ribbons with these ones as he's not very careful when it comes to shaving (and I have seen him shave his face dry in the past which always freaks me out). However, when I next visited him and asked him if he needed anything, he requested a different brand of razors.
I was surprised, but his verdict was that they didn't cut very well and the blades were rubbish. I thought maybe he just didn't get on with Bic, so I took the razors home to use myself. I figured that if they were as good as the women's, I could actually save quite a lot of money. However, I was surprised to find that they were so blunt as to be completely useless. I tried them using different shaving gels, no gel, different angles, but the hairs on both my arms and legs refused to shift. There's nothing more frustrating than a new razor which doesn't work - I tried two or three others in the pack but they were all rubbish.
I have to say that I prefer razors with very sharp blades as I'd prefer to nick myself once or twice rather than spend half an hour shaving. I may as well have been trying to shave my legs with a toothbrush for all the difference it made. I hate throwing products away, but after several months in the bathroom cabinet I accepted the fact that they were never going to get used and chucked them out.
It's a shame because the women's version is brilliant, but I definitely wouldn't buy these again because the blades are useless.
Summary: Stick to the women's
