“ Brand: Boots / Texture: Cream / Type: Shave Gel / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I usually buy my toiletries from Boots and just pick up whichever shaving gel is the cheapest. As a result, I usually end up buying the Boots Expert Sensitive Shave Gel (unless the Gillette ones are on offer). I've shaved with and without shaving gel and have to admit that shaving with shaving gel is much better.
The packaging is very basic. The can is white with a picture of smooth shaved legs on the front along with the name of the gel. The cap is made of clear plastic. Directions for use are indicated on the can as well. The gel is easily dispensed by taking off the cap and pressing the pump at the top gently.
To use, first wet the area to be shaved (I usually shave towards the end of my shower so as to allow the hair to soften). Then press the pump gently to dispense a small amount of the clear/white shaving gel and then rub it all over the area that is to be shaved. As you rub the gel onto your skin it will turn into thick white foam which is easily spread all over your skin. A small amount of gel produces a lot of foam so you really don't have to use much. Then as you start to shave you will see that the razor will glide over your skin more easily. Be sure to keep rinsing your razor as you shave so that the blades don't get clogged up.
The shaving gel is lightly fragranced and smells pleasant although I can't really describe the scent. The fragrance does not linger on my skin. As the name suggests, it is meant for people with sensitive skin and contains chamomile, vitamin E and moisturisers to "soothe and protect." I have used this for months now and it has never irritated my skin. The foam feels creamy and luxurious and it rinses off easily leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth. I do apply a moisturiser afterwards though, as I have dry skin. I also feel that the shaving gel allows me to get a closer shave without getting any nicks or cuts.
Price and Availability
Since this is a Boots own brand product it is only available in Boots-in store or online although it is often out of stock online. The 200 ml can is currently retailing for £2.44 although it is often on offer and that is when I stock up. I don't remember the exact price I paid, but it was definitely less than £2.
I do recommend this shaving gel as it gives me a closer shave and leaves my skin feeling softer and smoother than when I don't use it. It also lasts for ages as a little goes a long way. Also, it costs less than other brands like Gillette, but works just as well.

Shaving is not always a pleasant thing we have to do and what with all the cuts irritation and stubble it can get annoying. Having a good razor is a good start but you want to follow that with a good shaving gel. One that you want is one that does not irritate you after a shave. I do like the fact that this shaving gel is for sensitive skin because my skin gets very irritated by harsh chemicals. The skin on the legs can be very sensitive and the skin under the arm. This shaving gel is great at getting rid of that annoying irritation.
If you do not use shaving gel you really should as it has lots of moisture for your legs in the can and it does give you a closer shave. I did not use shaving gel before but till I found this one I now do. This shaving gel has a soothing feel because it's made with chamomile and vitamin e both perfect to treat the skin after a shave.
I picked my 200ml can up for £1.59 it was £2.39 so it has come down in price saving you 80p and saving is always good. The smell of this is nice also very fresh and fruity.
You can take the cap off by pulling it and then you press firmly on the pump. You do not need lots as once it foams up it will become too much and a waste of the gel. The picture on the front of the can is of women's legs. Both men and women can use it so it should not be targeted at just women because saving money is the important thing! If you can only afford a low price shaving gel it doesn't matter what sex it is for. Chamomile isn't a girly smell it's a fresh smell so there's no need to worry about smelling like a women with this if you are a male using it and vice versa. I have been using this for two months now and I think it's a great shaving product and I very rarely get any cuts when using this as it act like a barrier for my skin.
After my shave I noticed my skin felt smooth and the usually sand paper feel after using soap or shower gel wasn't there which was a bonus!
Theres nothing worse than thinking you have nice smooth skin after a shave to get out and feel like you have not even shaved!
Overall I would recommend this to anyone who wants a hassle free shave with no irritation! Will deferentially be buying this again and using it for a long while!
5 Stars from me!
Having been through practically every available shaving gel/foam/cream on the market in trying to find one that won't dry my skin out, it is somewhat of a relief to find this product. The first thing that drew me to it was the price. It was on a special offer so I paid about £1.60 for it - it usually sells at about £2.50 - and of course having the Boots points does make it a very tempting offer. I thought, as a one-off, it would be a bargain as if I didn't use it often, at least I got the points and it didn't cost the earth.
I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging is simplistic, but then it doesn't have to be fashionable really. It features a pair of smooth legs and clear wording showing what it is, what it does and how to use it. On the back, interestingly, it does say to use a moisturiser as well - I don't recall seeing that on another can. I think it would look good in any bathroom because of the simplicity of the design.
You get 200ml of gel in the can, and when you squeeze a small amount into your wet palm (and you really don't need a lot) and lather it up, you get a nicely fragranced amount of foam. It spreads well over wet skin, and doesn't vanish as some foams do. It also doesn't clog the razor, rinses easily and it smells lovely too. Soft and not too pervasive, and it lingers ever so gently on your skin afterwards - it won't, however, interfere with any scented body lotion or perfume you wear. It's lovely.
It's a product that people will buy. I would definitely buy this shaving gel over the major brands because of how nice my legs felt after shaving. I didn't really need to apply moisturiser as they were quite soft. A bonus. I've only started using this can recently, but I can see it lasting for quite a long time. Bargain. And with the Boots points and frequent offers too, it makes it something I will definitely buy again.
I bought this as a change from my usual Gilette Satin Care shaving gel as the difference in price was so striking - it's normally £2.49 compared to Gilette's £2.99 or £3.49, but in Boots the day I bought it, all Expert products had a third off, making it £1.65. The Expert range often has special offers on so it's worth waiting and looking out for them. You also get 8 Advantage Card points which are worth having!
The product comes in quite a plain white 200ml can with a plastic cap. Like the other products in the range, the packaging just has the name of the product in a minimal font on the front, along with a photo of a pair of lovely smooth legs! On the back is the ingredients, cautions etc. and the claims of the product, which is that it is that it is designed for sensitive skin and contains chamomile and vitamin E to soothe and protect. I do have quite sensitive skin and it does tend to get quite dry and itchy when I shave my legs so I was interested to see if it stood up to its claims.
The gel is easy to dispense by pushing the pump at the top, and when it comes out it is a pearly shimmery clear/white colour. As soon as you rub it over your skin it turns to a thick and creamy foam which clings to the skin and makes it very easy for your razor to glide over the area. It feels very moisturising and luxurious on your skin, and has a very pleasant fragrance - it's not floral, more a kind of powdery or 'baby lotion' kind of smell, very comforting and clean-smelling. It made it easy to get a close shave and rinsed off easily, leaving my skin smooth and stubble free.
Once I had dried off, my skin didn't feel any less dry than usual and I had to use my normal moisturiser; however it certainly wasn't any worse. I use this nearly every day and find it at least as good as the leading brand, for around two thirds of the price. It also seems to last longer as a small amount lathers up really well. I'm converted!
