~*~*~ Gillette Satin Care Pure & Delicate Shaving Gel ~*~*~
I love Gillette products, especially their shaving gels and this particular one (Satin Care) is my favourite. The gel comes in a white metal can with a push down applicator. There is also a plastic lid which covers the dispenser. On the front of the can is the brands logo (Gillette), the products name (Satin Care Pure and Delicate), what it is (shaving gel) and also that the product is derrmatologically tested and dye and fragrance free. This shaving gel is specially designed for sensitive skin, which is an added bonus as shaving can sometime irritate legs and under arms.
~*~*~ Price and Availability ~*~*~
You can purchase this shaving gel from Boots for £3.49 for a 200ml can. I have also purchased this shaving gel from Sainsbury's and Tesco's for around the same price.
~*~*~ In Use ~*~*~
To use, you simply press down on the dispenser and smooth gel over wet legs/underarms.
When you press down on the dispenser you are initially presented with a thick gel, which quickly turns in to a white foam, when mixed with water. Once the foam is applied to the skin it smothers it with ease as the foam is extremely thick and fluffy. Even thought the product is fragrance free there is a slight fresh, clean smell to it which is very pleasant.
When I start shaving I find that my shaver glides through the foam with ease. And because the foam is so thick you can easily see where you have shaved. I have used shavers in the past which have had the soap included in the shaver head and I always found it difficult to keep track on where I had previously shaved, making it take double the time. Shaving with this gel is easy and hassle-free. It is kind to skin and helps to prevent cuts.
After shaving my legs they are left feeling incredibly smooth. On the back of the tin it states that this gel, 'Leaves your skin feeling soft and satiny smooth each time you shave', and I completely agree with this. It is one of the most luxurious and creamy gel I have ever used. Another great thing about this gel is that a little goes a long way. It can be a little tricky to push out the right amount and the top of the nozzle does get a bit messy but this is common for most shaving gels.
I find this gel to be somewhat hydrating and moisturising, however I still need to use a moisturiser/body butter after use. I have psoriasis and this shaving gel does not irritate my skin at all.
~*~*~ Would I Recommend ~*~*~
I would definitely recommend this shaving gel. It is gentle on sensitive skin and helps to protect against cuts. I find this shaving gel to be great value for money, one tin normally lasts me for 3 or 4 months. I have no negative comments to make about this product, as I have never has a problem with it. Overall I am going to give this product 5 out of 5 Dooyoo Stars.
Thanks for taking the time to read my review :o)
For smooth soft legs there is really no excuse not to shave with Gillette Satin Care as after every use my legs feel wonderfully smooth and cared for. I don't always use this product though, sometimes if I'm in the shower and need to quickly shave my legs I will do it without any shave gel but I can definitely tell the difference when I have not used it as my skin is a lot drier and sometimes suffers from a bit of razor burn so I am usually better off using a shave gel to shave my legs with.
This Gillette Satin Care pure and delicate shaving gel is perfect for silky smooth legs. It's such a great beauty product and well priced. What I really like about this particular gel is that its for sensitive skin and so its specially designed and will leave your legs seeling soft and sating smooth. The gel contains no perfumes or colourants so its perfect to use as it minimises the risk of skin irritations which like I've said above, I sometimes get from shaving.
The gel is actually really fun to use and makes the boring task of shaving a little bit more exciting. The gel comes in a can and has a nozzle at the top which you press and the gel comes out. This is actually my favourite part of the whole thing because within a few seconds of you pumping out the gel it turns into a lovely white creamy foam, it's so much fun to watch it do that, simple pleasures, I know. The foam/gel is then really easy to apply all over my legs and smoothes across them well. It sticks to my legs until its time to shave it off so that is good and doesn't run away like a regular liquid soap would.
It is best to apply the gel to wet legs as it smoothes over them much better when they are wet. I find you don't need much of the foam to cover all your legs, really only a little blob will do. Then when you start to shave the foam off you get a wonderful comforting sensation on your legs, like they are really being protected by the foam and that it will be quite hard to nick and cut your legs when this foam is on.
I actually really like the fact that this variety is not perfumed as then I can either have a nice fragrant oil in my bath or I can use a nice shower gel without the smell of my leg shaving gel taking over.
A 200ml can costs £3.49 and as you only need a little bit per leg the bottle will last quite a while and be quite a cheap beauty product. A great silky way to shave your legs in my opinion.
~Pure and Delicate~
Gillette offer a number of shaving related products and today, I will be reviewing the 'Pure and Delicate Shave Gel'.
This shave gel is free from dye and fragrance as well as being dermatologically tested so is suitable for those with sensitive skin. Gillette claim that this shave gel is designed to reduce irritation associated with shaving and should leave your skin soft and smooth after shaving. The gel is presented in a rather simple, metal can with a push down dispenser underneath the plastic lid. The can has a basic design - white and green. The can is suitable for recycling once empty. I find the packaging to be practical given the type of product but it does need wiped to ensure the gel doesn't leave a sticky coating on the can.
~Where To Buy~
At the moment, you can purchase a 200ml can of this shave gel from Boots and www.boots.com for £3.49.
I have sensitive skin which often becomes irritated whilst shaving. I actually bought a can of this shave gel before Christmas last year and I am still using the same can. I always opt for Gillette shaving gels as I find them to be the best on the market. £3.49 may seem expensive but given that I have had around 8 months use (and there is still plenty left) from this can, it actually represents good value for money in my opinion. I normally use a scented gel but find this is much nicer on my skin.
This shaving gel is easy to use but as with others, it can become quite messy if you apply too much. The gel dispenses easily and I cannot stress how important it is that you do not apply too much pressure to the dispenser as you do not need much gel per use. The gel itself is initially a bit cloudy looking and starts to turn into a white foam when rubbed on to damp skin. A little goes a long way and you do get a lot of soft, creamy foam from a small spot of gel. Okay, the can says 'fragrance free' but there is a very natural clean and fresh scent evident which is pleasant and totally natural smelling.
The foam created is quite rich and feels smooth against my sensitive skin. I find that it provides substantial coating to my skin to ensure that my skin is cushioned against a razor blade. I mainly use it on my legs and around my bikini area where my skin is quite bumpy and sore. I am pleased by how well this shaving gel performs. My skin feels protected and my razor blade simply glides along removing any hairs and leaving me fuzz free. The foam is easily rinsed from the razor along with any hair and I find that it works well with disposable razors as it protects my skin from nippy cuts whilst giving a close shave.
If I am shaving my underarms in the shower, I use the tiniest blob of this gel and find that my sensitive underarms appreciate the foam layer but I find it a little too messy to use outwith the shower if I just want to do my underarms so use soap and water on these occasions. I definitely notice a difference between how my underarms feel after using this compared to soap. After shaving my legs, underarms or bikini area, there is a slightly film left on the surface of my skin but this disappears when rinsed.
I am impressed by how well this shaving gel performs. Not only does it protect my sensitive skin from cuts, my skin is left feeling soft and beautifully smooth after shaving. Compared to regular Gillette shaving gels, I would say that this one leaves my skin looking and feeling better. The bumps aren't as red and I don't feel quite so nervous about showing off my legs as they appear less irritated. I have never experienced any irritation from using this shaving gel and find it to be incredibly kind to my skin. It doesn't dry it out either.
This is a great quality shaving gel which is perfectly suitable for those who have really sensitive skin. It lasts well and leaves my skin looking and feeling good. My 200ml can has had a lot of use and by my judgement (shaking the can), there is still a good amount left. I would happily buy this again as it suits my skin and offers a great level of protection from a sharp razor blade. Highly recommended!
Thanks for reading :)
I prefer to use a shaving gel product alongside a razor when shaving, rather than using a Shaving Foam product as I find the end result is better. This review outlines my experiences of using the "Gillette Satin Care Pure & Delicate Shave Gel."
I believe the product is quite a new addition to the Gillette 'ladies' range overall, and certainly I have never seen it for sale before, even though I make regular purchases from the Gillette brand. The Pure & Delicate Shave Gel is widely available to purchase from a variety of retailers, including Boots (www.boots.com) and Superdrug (www.superdrug.com) where it costs around £3.50, though postage costs may apply if purchasing online.
The canister is a generous 200ml in size, and as I have a lot of experience in using products like this one, I knew that I would only need to use a small amount of the Shave Gel with every use, allowing the canister to last for a reasonable amount of time. This has indeed been the case, and I have managed to obtain around two months of use from the can, allowing the purchase price to feel like good value for money.
The packaging is quite simplistic, but a 'fresh' and rather contemporary image is presented from the Gillette brand on this occasion, thanks to the attractive colours of aqua, turquoise and blue that are 'swirled' over the front of the plain white canister. There is a plastic lid on top of the canister that is made of a sort of 'pearl-effect' white plastic, and I have never encountered any issues with removing or replacing it during the use of the product, even though I suffer with the strength in my hands as a result of limited mobility. Likewise, I am able to dispense the product quite easily, thanks to the good quality plastic 'nozzle' that is incorporated into the top of the metal canister. I find the little plastic 'button' that is within the nozzle is easy to depress by myself, without help.
The Pure & Delicate Shave Gel is "Dye & Fragrance Free" according to the blurb on the canister. This means that it is without colour, of course, and the gel is a plain sort of white/cream colour instead. This is quite unusual as far as products like this one go, but I will admit that I felt reassured that the product was going to be entirely suitable for my sensitive skin as a result of the claims made on its packaging, and the white-coloured gel did reinforce this impression to a degree, feeling slightly more natural than several 'near neon' coloured offerings I have been using of late.
Using the Shave Gel is very easy, thanks to its thick, paste-like consistency. Upon coming into contact with water, the Gel creates a thick foamy lather, which spreads over the skin's surface easily. This lather coats the skin in a thick layer in just a moment, allowing the product to feel relatively 'fuss-free' which suits me down to the ground. There is no aroma present from the Shave Gel, of course, as it's formula is unscented, which again reinforces the product's claims about it being Delicate and suitable for sensitive skin.
Shaving with the product is very easy, and I find my razor 'glides' through the foamy lather produced by the Shave Gel very easily, allowing for a sort of steady 'grip' to be maintained from my razor's blade that feels quite safe. I find there is nothing slippery present on the skin's surface once the product has been applied, so I am able to shave quite easily - and safely - once the Gel has lathered sufficiently. I think it is this feature of the product's thick Gel that has allowed me to shave countless times with the use of the Gel without experiencing a single nick or cut to my skin.
After use, my skin is left completely hair-free, as you would expect, with a noticeable 'close' shave that leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. There is a claim on the back of the can; "Leaves your skin feeling soft and satiny smooth each time you shave" and I do agree with this statement wholeheartedly. Each time I have shaved with the gel, I have noticed that my skin feels rather smooth and soft to the touch, leaving me feeling quite impressed with the results.
My legs will often appear quite dry after shaving, requiring me to apply a good quality moisturising lotion and this practice has still been required with the use of the Gillette Pure & Delicate Gel. Even though there is something of a 'softening' effect present after use, I do still need to apply a moisture lotion to my skin, which is perhaps down to my own skin type which is very dry and sensitive. This result may vary, dependent on different skin types of course, but for my own needs this practice is still required to achieve optimum results.
To be honest, I don't notice that the Pure & Delicate Gel accelerates the dryness experienced in my skin, nor does it cause anything in the way of irritation or sensitivity to my delicate skin, so I am very happy with the results experienced from the use of the product, particularly as my delicate skin will 'flare' aggressively if harsh products are used. Based on these findings, I do agree with the assorted claims and statements made on the product's packaging concerning the product's suitability for sensitive skin.
There is nothing 'fussy' or 'faff-like' from using the product, which allows it to slot neatly into my skincare/shaving routine. This is a definite plus-point for me, as I have little stamina - or time - for products that require a lot of effort on my part. I am happy with how easy the product is to use, with no aspect of it feeling difficult for me. The main selling point for me, however, is the gentle formula of this particular Gel, together with the fact it has been created specifically for sensitive skin, and I do find it works in harmony with my troublesome skin, allowing no irritation or sensitivity to be experienced.
It is on this basis that I fully recommend the Gillette Satin Care Pure & Delicate Shave Gel, and feel it is a very worthwhile purchase, with the product deserving full marks in the rating score in my opinion.
