“ Brand: Joop / Type: Aftershave „
My name is Jasper, and this was my very first review on ciao.
This review is about my experiences with Joop Nightflight, which I was purchased last week by my mother. If my friends were here they'd tell you that I have quite a way with the ladies. It's a pretty innefectual way on the whole, but you cant fault me for lack of trying! After many unsuccesful experiments with pheremone sprays, male girdles and hair straighteners, I finally decided to cut my losses and go au naturale for a night out last weekend. My mother had been shopping that day, and had bought me this home as a present ( I have been informed she payed the small sum of £22 for this), so I decided to wear this along with my favourite colourful T-shirt and skinny jeans.
Now, I was quite suprised when I pulled this out of the box, the bottle is most fascinating! I am a huge fan of scifi and was very happy, my fellows, to discover the futuristic design of the bottle- very appealing to a man like me. It fits very well on my dresser, however it would not look aout of place among my Star Wars Memorabilia- very snazzy!
The smell was very strong, yet not overpwering, warm and flowery. Considering my mother is quite the fan of sweet and sickly smells I was quite dubious about trying this, but was pleasently suprised by it's masculinity- certainly gives the ladies the right impression. I received many compliments that night on my fine aroma, however I must advise against using "smell my Joop" as a chat up line, however famous the brand may be becoming the ladies do not appeciate this.
I danced quite vigorously that night, and athough (as a "more to love" sort of man) I did perspire quite a lot, the smell of the Joop overcame this and the car ride home was not unpleasent for me or the taxi driver. Unfortunately, I received none of those lovely ladies phone numbers, however I will be trying again very soon armed with my new favourite scent.
*Also on Ciao as Walowiz
I adore this aftershave.I used to wear the normal Joop the pink one but have been converted to this.Even 4 months after returning from a cruise ship holiday i catch this scent still on my suits hanging up in the wardrobe, its a haunting smokey sexy scent and smells better the longer its been on.A really great smell for any guy.
Just to avoid any confusion, this is a MENS fragrance, and the bottle I have reviewed here is the 75ml eau de toilette.....
This fragrances is described as being an energetic and fresh fragrance with citrus floral notes.
It does certainly live up to the decription it's given because it certainly is very citrusy but at the same time its not over obviously citrusy - not in the same way a lot of other frarances are. It also has a "metallic" feel to it too which I know doesnt sound very nice, but it actually is! It actually reminds me of "Bmen" by Thierry Mugler, although its not quite a liquoiricey as that.
It's a typical Joop fragrance in that its quite a dark heavy fragrance, and it's definitely more suited to being worn in the evening - its not the type of thing you would want to be wearing all day at work. I would also say that it's better suited to the upcoming winter months - I cant really see people opting to wear this in the middle of summer.
Its also typical Joop in that it lasts a LONG time. I've worn it on a night out before and still been able to smell it when I woke up the following morning.
The bottle it comes in isn't really anything special to be honest - it certainly doesnt leap out at you, and I think this may possibly be why this Fragrance gets overlooked, and the fact that the name "Joop" isnt actually displayed on the bottle doesnt help! The bottle itself is bacially the same bottle as the Joop Homme bottle, but this time it's a Royal Blue colour, and has engraved crosses all around the sides.
In conclusion, I would say that if you are already a fan of Joop, then this is ideal for you to add to your collection as a fragrance for wearing when you are going out partying at Xmas.
If you're NOT a fan, it still may be worth you having a look at it because it may be different enough to the other Joop fragrances out there to appeal to you.
Personally, I do like this fragrance, but for the reasons above, although I do recommend it, you should still try before you buy!
Joop introduced this spicy masculine scent in 1992 / A mixture of lavender and amber creates a powerful smell with subtle underlying hints of citrus /
