This looked 'pretty' and I begrudge paying the exhorbitant price of Gillette Fusion. The price with two extra blades was equivalent to that of ONE Fusion blade. However once I started shaving, the reason became clear. The 'drag' was there from the start, the angle of the handle is like no other razor I have used and I don't mean that in a good way.I normally shave 'with the grain first, then 'against the grain'. That was when the blood appeared! There is absolutely no chance of getting within 5 mm of the nostril area due to the blade design.Thw whole concept seems like a project by an undergraduate artist for his first project.Back to Fusion for me.That always reminds me of grandad's "You get what you pay for" saying.

Not the best hair removal product

~Razor or Azor which works best~?
      **************************

Having purchased a good number of the Azor range of razors made by King Of Shaves when they were on a special deal in a retail store, I ended up with some of the hybrid synergy razors from the range. As they cost far less than their normal sale price I decided they were worth trying as they worked out as being not much than a cheap disposable, yet seemed to promise so much more. The hybrid synergy razors I bought came in an easy to transport re-sealable type of clear plastic carry pack that I assume was marketed and aimed at men, although I see no reason why men or women cannot try their hands at using these if brave enough. In use I have found that the funky shape of these razors may make them look very appealing however I simply have not been able to get used to using them with any degree of accuracy and given the choice of using a razor or an Azor I would choose to use the former every time.

      ~The Hybrid Synergy Azor!~
      **********************

King of Shaves say that the razor incorporates all sorts of high tech design features that makes it glide safely and smoothly across the skin chopping its way through massive forests and jungles to give a super hair free result with no nicks or cuts along the way. Fabulous I thought! ...... However in use I have found these razors both hard to control as well as having the most awkward shape to the shaving head that I couldn't get the hang of using. This makes any claims of the product being a super easy to use razor that will make for better hair removal rather at odds with my experience of having used the razors and even though there are a number of the Azor range of razors dotted around in cabinets and cupboards at home, no one myself included wants to use them again!

King of Shaves say that this type of razor offers 'shaving comfort and performance with design and style' at a cheaper price than many competitor brands and the price being cheaper is the only part of that statement that I can agree with. I feel that the interesting presentation of the razor with its oddly hinged shaving head does make this the 'Dyson' of the shaving world in terms of its unique styling, being unlike anything else made to shave with. However my feelings are that this product offers style over substance as it really needs careful use to get any where near the smooth hair free results than can be had with even the cheapest of disposable razors.

      ~Using the product~
      ****************

In use the handle on the razor is slim with a textured surface made so as to give an easy grip feel and this is something that I thought had a good feel to it as it could be held firmly when trying to get used to the way the razor head sits away from the skin until you press it firmly against the area that needs to be dealt with. The shaving surface of the razor with its sharp cutting blades can be a method of torture in the wrong hands as I found it very easy to end up pinging the whole thing back whilst taking a layer of skin off at the same time. The hinged head looks quirky and cool when you first set eyes on it yet try to use it with any amount of success and it takes on a whole new feel. The living hinge or as I like to call it the odd bendy side fitting that flexes when the razor is in use features so called 'Bendology Technology' that I feel makes this razor very difficult to get used to using.

As the shaving head sits almost in line with the handle when it is not being pressed against the skin it looks like nothing else I have previously used and although it looks good it didn't suit my needs at all and I found it very difficult to master. I found that the super sharp shaving blades used on the razor were too easily caught on my skin at times and this resulted in an uneven finish with nicks and cuts to the skin which wasn't very nice. If this razor was sold as vegetable peeler it would probably do a better job as it seems to be able to remove layers of skin with a good degree of ease and as such I really didn't enjoy using it as a hair removal product as it was something that didn't work as it should.

      ~Price and summary~
      *****************

In use I just could not get used to the way this razor worked and I often ended up with nicks and cuts to my skin. I feel that this is possibly one of the worst razors I have used as it was very difficult to get neat and cut free results from. The makers of the product have provided a small slim rubber bumper on the front of the razor that should help to stop cuts and nicks although I feel that it didn't work as it should when I was using the product. I don't care how much technology went into the making of the razor as my feelings about it are that it does not perform as well as it should and as such it is not something I want to use again in the future. I would rather not bother if all I had was the choice of using this product or doing nothing at all.

Prices for this razor can be as much as £4.99 each in many high street stores although you can purchase these direct from King Of Shaves for a little less. Even though I was able to pick up a number of these razors very cheaply I have not used them all as I have had problems using them and don't feel they give very good results. I have used the black version of this as well as the white one and the girly version and all were not up to scratch as far as I could tell, with them all being equally difficult to use. I feel that the amount of cuts and nicks produced by this razor is rather unacceptable so perhaps the makers of the product may want to consider providing more information about how to safely use these razors as it seems to be an art form that I was unable to master. As such I feel these razors seem to favour looks over performance making them wonderful to gaze upon yet extremely hard to use and with that in mind my rating for them is just 1 star.

I have just thrown this razor, and three new blades, in the dustbin. I quite like the shave, though it's not fantastically good. However, fitting a new blade to it has just taken me five minutes, and it still wasn't fitted - fell off when I tried it. Being a little weird, I originally bought it as it seemed rather niche. The Gillette Mach 3 is better, though not a great deal more; much easier to fit the blades, though. I will buy expensive disposables from now on!

        Disadvantages

Don't listen to adverts look to this product

This product is a revelation! It shows the effect media advertising has on people, well me. For years I have been convinced that the best a man can get is Gillette, but I was wrong.

Ever since I started shaving I have suffered from razor burn on my neck, and ever since I started shaving I have used Gillette products, occasionally in desperation switching to BIC Sensitive razors with no luck. Until recently, when my wife bought me The King of Shaves Azor razor. Since then I have never looked back. No longer is it a painful experience to shave. No longer do I have a red sore neck. It has even cleared up some of acne that I have been plagued with due to infected pores from the irritation of previous razors.

It does however, take a little getting used to this new razor. The design is very different to any other razor that I have ever used. You have to hold the razor slightly flatter than you would expect and the first few times that I used it I did cut myself more than usual. However, I have now found that the unique guide that the razor has is very easy to get a good close smooth shave.

Price wise the razor normally retails at £4.99 which as you can see is much cheaper than Gillette and my wife told me that she got it from Sainburys as it is on offer at the moment (14/05/09) at £3.74. So if your looking for a change then now is the financial time to do it too.

        Disadvantages

Make the change you wont regret it

My husband has been a gillette boy since he started shaving. Supposedly the best a man can get has left him with a close shave but also razor burn and spots caused by infected hair folicals. So i decided to treat him to a new system. Me, a woman who knows nothing about shaving beards! King of shaves was apparantly set up by a man who suffered from the very same thing as my husband, so that sounded promising. I purchased this razor and a little shaving oil also from king of shaves for him to try. He said the razor is a 4 blade and is light in the hand. He was surprised by the 'hybrid' design which made it look different to other wet razors he had used. While that took a little getting used to it gave a fantastic close shave, very smooth and no razor burn at all. The shave wasnt painful at all. He is pleased and that makes me a happy mrs!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great effort

King of Shaves are a reputable brand in the world of shaving and i have used many of their products before, including shaving gel, shaving oil, after shave balm and moisturiser, so when i saw that they were bringing out a razor and launching it in the competitive world of shavers, I knew I would have to give it a try.

I have to shave every day for work, so I feel like I am qualified to talk on the subject. I have used Gilette for most of my shaving life, from Sensor, to Sensor Excel, to Mach 3 all the way to the most recent Turbo charged battery thing (what a load of rubbish!)! i could never really find one that got close enough.

I dallied with the Wilkinson Sword Diamond Excel shaver and to be fair this was a good razor, marginally better than the gilette effort.

But I think that this Azor is a really good blade, better than its competitors. Now I use Origins pre shave gliding oil and their shave cream and find that the Azor is great at giving me a really close shave. i have used it for about 4 months now and have yet to cut myself (touch wood!).

It is also a lot cheaper than its competitors, another bonus. Think it is about £4 for the blade and that gives you three replacements.

        i would recommened this razor.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Give it a miss

The Azor is King Shaves' "new concept in shaving", and has entered the market to compete against Gillette and Wilkinson Sword. I usually use a Gillette Mach III, but hate the way Gillette treat their customers like idiots, so was looking to move blade.

King of Shaves argue that they are declaring war on the high price of shaving. While it's true that their Razor blades are far cheaper than Gillette fusion blades, they are about the same price as the blades for the Mach 3, and more expensive than the old sensor blades. So if you use one of these old Gillette razors (as many still do) you're not going to see much of a drop in your yearly bill.

For me the Azor has three major design flaws that either lead to me cutting my face to shreds, or being timid and getting a bad shave.

The first of these is that there is no grip on the blade handle, which is something that most blade manufacturers have sussed. When I take hold of my razor blade I have just smeared my face with a slippery gel or foam of some sort to help the razor glide across my face. This same substance causes the Azor to slip in your hand and makes it hard to control.

Secondly, the Azor is designed in a way that means you can't hold the razor near the top. The head is to wide and starts too far down the blade. As anyone who has ever tried using a spoon or pen by holding it near the far end will attest, this leads to lack of control.

Thirdly, whilst the Azor's competitors have a swivel head that adjusts to your face and the pressure you put on the blade, the Azor has a rubber neck that will bend back a bit if too much pressure is used.
