      Very helpful

Having skin that takes an hour or two to wake up more than me in the mornings can be a bit of a blow. Deciding that maybe my skin needed it's equivalent of caffeine in the morning as much as I did, I thought I'd give it a treat. As I'd tried a couple of the King of Shaves previous products, and being pleased with them I decided to give their equivalent of a face wash/cleanser a try. At the time of writing both Boots and Superdrug have got promotions on the entire King of Shaves range (I bought this from Superdrug with a third off the price!), so it might be an idea to give them a try. Anyway, this is called "K-First" and claims to be suitable for "universal skin types", of which I assume that my dry and delicate skin fits in to. This is supposed to be suitable for a pre-shave wash or whenever washing sensitive skin. The thing to get used to when using this is it is non-soapy, hence it doesn't lather up much. Directions ---------- Wet your face thoroughly (believe me it has to be very wet!), then squeeze out a little bit of it out onto your palms and rub in until it lathers up a bit. At this stage I prefer to leave it on for about thirty seconds to really cleanse my skin well, then rinse off. Ingredients ----------- Aqua (water!), TEA-lauryl sulfate (I thought tea was something with milk and sugar, guess I was wrong!) , Cocamide DEA (?), Glycerin (great plant based moisturising oil, sometimes used in soaps), Cocamidopropyl betaine (?), Sodium laureth sulfate (used in shampoos to lather), PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate (?), Arcitum Lappa root extract (that's burdock root to you and me!), perfume, PEG-70 mango glycerides (the mango oil, which I'll come to later), propylene glycol (?), citric acid (good old vit C), sodium chloride (anyone for salt??), Methyldibromo glutaronitrile (?), Phenoxyethanol (?), Benzyl alcohol (cleanser), Methylchloroisothiazolinone (?), M
ethylisothiazolinone (?), Cl 42090 (to make it blue!) Results ------- I must say that it does seem to make both me and my skin more refreshed and awake in the morning. It seems to make the skin feel very awake and smooth, I even had a comment from my colleagues about how shiny and healthy my skin looked, I guess this must be the "moisturising retaining mango oil". Whether it is that or not, I don't seem to need to moisturise my skin as much since using this every day. The smell is very pleasent too. It claims to be a good and deep cleanser, which is good as my skin needs cleansing quite a lot, especially before a shave. I find that it helps soften the stubble and prepares the skin well, so making shaving easier. It recommends alternating the use of this with their exfoliating facial scrub (which I've bought but haven't used yet). The blurb on the back quotes that "this product has been designed to exceed your expectations" and I believe it has. The only drawbacks I can see with this are that it's not available from everywhere (apart from most large boots and superdrug stores) but they have a very good website, which you can order from (for a discount on the RRP). Also it's pricey for the amount you get (£3.99 for 100ml), although it lasts for ages (as you only use a little amount) it is quite a lot to pay, you only get what you pay for though. I recommend this quite highly. Contact/Availability -------------------- Shops: Boots, Superdrug, House of Fraser and Selfridges. Website: www.shave.com (look to order free samples of their rather excellent shaving oil and gel, as well as order any products online) E-Mail ------ king@shave.com
