“ Brand: Original Source / Creams / Gender: for men / Type: Shave Gel / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I bought this shaving gel for my husband but I also use it all the time because it is so good.
I paid £1 for it which is a really good price for such a good quality product.
One of the best things about it is the minty smell. It is really minty and when I apply it to my skin it makes my skin tingle and it feels really fresh and clean because of the mint. I have had this shaving gel for ages because it lasts and lasts. It is great because you only need to use a tiny amount of gel and it creates loads of foam so it is perfect for shaving my legs. The gel is nice and thick when it comes out so is easy to apply as it doesn't run all over my hands. I also like the fact that even though it is for me it doesn't have a manly smell as it is just minty so it is good for me to use too so I only need to buy one product for me and my husband to use.
My legs feel really soft after using this gel and it really works well with a wet razor and creates a nice foam that makes shaving easier and lets the razor glide through it without cutting or grazing. My husband really likes using this gel on his face too as the minty feeling leaves his face feeling fresh and clean. I think the mint smell of it is also good for shaving on a morning as most men do because it definately feels cool and wakes you up.
I would definately recommend this for both men and women to use.
It seems like I am the last person in Britain to discover this product. When shopping for razors one day a friend of mine recommended it to me, she said she had used the shampoo and it is great. With much scepticism I purchased myself a can and home I went to get ready for a night out on the town. Getting ready with razor in hand I cracked open the top and squeezed a little ball of gel onto my hand. First thing I notice is the lovely sweet minty smell. I massage some into reasonably hairy face and to my amazement there is more than enough foam for shaving. Only a very small amount is needed to cover your face. I proceed to shave and the hair comes of very easily and all in all the gel proves to be a very good shave. The shock I received from this product is the fresh feeling it gives my face. All of my cheeks felt lovely and cool and it felt even better when I splashed cold water on my face. The breeze outside also felt nice. This for me was a refreshing change from poor quality foam that only manages to give you razor burn. My girlfriend loves the smell of mint off my face when I shave too. Because of the small amount needed it seems like my first can has lasted forever, I have still got the same can months later. The only fault i can pick with this stuff (and it really is a small one), is that sometimes if i put a lot of foam on my face the mint can be a little overpowering and make my eyes water. That though is my own fault ;-) Anyone who has to shave should use this stuff it really is the best shave gel out there bar none.
From time to time man needs to have a change to his shaving habits to ensure that he is getting ‘the best a man can get!’ I thought I had found the ultimate in shaving when I came across the Lynx Triple Blade Razor, I am still happy with the razor but have now found the perfect partner for an even better shave. It is from Original Mint Source and from all the opinions on the site on the shower gels and shampoos; I know you all know this company well. Original Source goes back to the 1850’s when an Australian Elizabeth Wakeman disgraced her missionary family by running away during the great Australian gold rush. Stories of time say that Elizabeth managed to persuade a barber to take her on as his apprentice, during this time she did not only learn how to shave and pull teeth, Elizabeth began to discover the healing powers of the plants that grew in the Outback and soon became famous for her herbal cures. The Original Mint Source today uses many of the same ingredients in their products as Elizabeth did over 150 years ago. Now I have used many products from their range and had never tried a facial product and decided to give this a bash just for a change from the usual Gillette shaving foam that I have used for the last few years! There was only thing hampering me from making the final decision and that was the fact that it was a gel rather than foam, I have always found that if I use a gel that I break out in spots. The packaging was convincing enough o help me get over that besides Tea Tree Oil is used to combat spots is it not! So into the trolley with one can of shaving gel. Ingredients ~ There are lots of different ingredients in this product but I will not go into the great detail on that like I usually do I will stick to the two main ingredients that makes this a great product to use! Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia) ~ This is one of the fi
rst of the essential oils that makes this a totally unique shaving experience. This is a natural antiseptic and helps you achieve a really close shave while you and your mind are fully relaxed. Peppermint Oil (Mentha Arvensis) ~ Peppermint oil is added to provide a refreshing feel to your shave, with it’s stimulating and reviving abilities you are sure to have one of the best shaves you are likely to have and with it’s natural coolants it is unlikely you will be left with the usual razor rash! How Much ~ Mint source fans can pick a 200ml can of this stuff up at any chemist or supermarket for a nice little sum of £2.99 and for those weekends away you can also pick up the new 100ml travel size for £1.49, I know that compared to other shaving gels that it may seem expensive but it is well worth it I think. What do people have to say? ~ This product has been tried and tested by some of the biggest glossy mags out there, from FHM to Cosmopolitan. This shaving Gel is not only seen as a gel for men it is considered to be unisex, so ladies this op is for you to, can you imagine a shave of your legs that is so refreshing you could go on forever! Cosmopolitan loves it and thinks it also looks great in the bathroom? Ok so Squidget what is the shave like? ~ OK well I am sure you will all know by now that I like to try and be fair about testing new products, so I thought about how I was going to test this one! It would have been difficult to shave either side of my face with different gels. I seriously considered doing the legs one with a different type of gel to see how I got on! But I like my hairy legs too much. So it was the simple option of shave with one gel one day and the next for the next shave and so on! Mint Source was up first after winning a toss of the coin and preparation was underway for the first shave. Letting my stubble grow for a whole weekend I began to prep
are a nice hot bath last night and prepare for a really relaxing time! In with the lavender oil to prepare me for a good night sleep and I lit the candles bluebell also to help you sleep! After doing all the necessary bits and bobs it was time to relax in the bath and begin with the shave. I washed face with warm water as instructed and prepared the gel. Dosing a small amount into the palm of my hand I massaged it into a rather rich lather, which was more than enough to cover my face where I was shaving. Instantly I could smell the aroma of mint that was indeed very refreshing and revitalising to say the least. Once applied to the skin I felt an instant cooling as if my pores all decided to through their doors open and let the wind blow through my skin. The feeling was amazing and I lay in the bath and just let the foam work it’s magical therapies on my skin and my stubble! After a few moments I decided to let the razor get to work and what a brilliant feeling it was. Never have I had a shave that when you take a swipe that the area is left feeling cool and closely shaved. I found that I was able to concentrate on the one area for shaving without any irritation. The final result was a close shave with a razor that had been used several times and a foam that gives an exhilarating experience, now I went in to the bath to have a relaxing time and after this shave I did feel relaxed, however, I felt more awake than before I went into my bath, so the lavender and bluebell where a waste of time then? Not at all, I found that with the refreshing effects from the gel I was able to clear my mind and had a truly peaceful sleep. Now the final stages of the test will not be carried out to ensure that this test is fair, as I have decided to stick with this new shaving gel and will be buying it again in the future. I am able to make this decision fairly due to the fact that I have used my other shaving foam for many year
s and have never experienced the sensations you do with Original Mint source. A winner with me and if you are looking for more info on this product and more from the Mint Source range visit their website at www.originalsource.co.uk and you can even register with the site and receive free samples if you live in the UK. Have fun! © JamesD22 2001 :o)
Original Source uses essential oils in their products instead of artificial fragrances, and boy! What a difference it makes. I've used Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Oil shaving foam for a couple of months now, and it's a real wake up call in the morning. It comes in a sexy blue-green can, with the familiar Original Source branding and brief history on the reverse. The gel itself is a lovely thick green gel that produces a thick lather, which goes on the face quite smoothly. As soon as you put the gel on your face you can feel the cooling action of the mint. Believe me, the longer you leave it on, the cooler it gets. By the time you finish shaving, your skin feels as cold as ice, which will be great in the summer, but over the winter months I've often felt too cold using it! The gel provides reasonable friction free shaving, though it must be said that the gel can be quite lumpy on the skin. The gel is also quite expensive, at around £2 to £2.50 for a can. However, if it's a refreshing start to the morning, you can't beat this product! If you're prone to blemishes, then you might like to know that the tea tree oil acts as an antiseptic as well!
I have used Original source products for Shower gels etc and decided to give ths one a go. It does say on the can that you will never experience another shave like and they were right. I have sensitive skin and found myself shaving at light speed in order to get the damn stuff off my face. It starts with a tingling and then almost burning sensation like applying ralgex to delicate areas, you know what I mean guys. It does give a close shave, and if you're in hurry, twenty seconds from start to finish is excellent but I daren't leave it on long enough to find out if the tingling reduces or not. I was expecting a quality product given my previous experiences and the price, and was disappointed in the sensation on the skin I'll stick to Gillette in future! Althoough my girlfriend has found it in the bathroom and decided to give it a go without as much terror as me so it may not be a complete waste of money after all. Warnings should be larger on products like this one that I can only compare to agent orange.
This stuff is great. Of all the different gels and foams and oils I have tried this one is the best so far. It comes in a rather un-inspiring can that dispenses the green gel in generous quantities. A wee splash of water and the gel quickly foams up into a nice smooth thick foam. By this time you can already smell the refreshing tea tree oil and mint and you are already waking up. The foam applies and adheres nicely and retains its smooth qualities for quite some time. As a blade lubricant it works well allowing a quick and nick free shave. At this stage you can really feel the tingle from the foam - which is rather pleasant. The foam rinses off OK - other s rinse easier but I guess that is because they aren't as rich and smooth. At this point your face really feels tingly and alive - enough to wake you up! and this sensation lasts for several minutes, especially if you go outside into a cool breeze. Post shave there is little sign of shaving rash or other irritation. Definately recommended.
Original source do it again, cool yet hot, minty yet scented too. Tea tree takes away the razor burn, whilst the mint gives a real warming sensation to your skin whilst shaving. Ifirst tried this product at christmas, it goes a long way as due to the make up of the product it tends to stay moist throughout the shave. I have sensitive skin and got a bit worried when my face warmed up, but its a good sensation and takes your mind off the sometimes uncomfortableness of a shave. Really glides smoothly doesnt clog your razors is readily available and at the same price as any other shaving gel. Love the stuff and will stick with it till somthing better comes around.
I have been shaving all my adult life (odd that don't you think?) and to be honest, I hate it. I have tried many different razors and shaving cremes etc, but having quite sensitive skin, I always end up looking like Ive gone 3 rounds with next door's cat! I came across the 'Mint Source Shaving Gel' about 18 months ago and haven't looked back since. I still hate shaving but now I have found a product which actually helps me get through it almost safely. It comes in a green pump action can which dispenses the green gel quite generously. One drawback to the design of the tin is that the nozzle become clogged quite easily so rinsing it under that hot tap afterwards is advised. The gel, gives quite a bulky amount of lather that applies easily and stays at the right consistency for some time. I have noticed with other gels/cremes that they tend to 'dry out' quickly making the last parts of shaving quite a chore, especially with a days growth of stubble. You don't get this so much with Mint Source and I find the whole experience a lot less challenging. The lather gives an easy, close shave and leaves your skin feeling soft and not dry, which I tend to find with other products. Also, as the name suggests, the gel has a minty aroma and gives the skin a cool tingly feeling when applied. This can last for a short time after shaving and makes your face feel cool in the fresh air, very pleasing sensation when out in the sun. Be careful though. I often leave the tin on the bathroom window sill (bad move) and in direct sunlight the can heats up quite quickly. If you then dispense some gel into your hand, the gel has a tendency to 'explode' sending foam all-round the bathroom. Though this is funny when this happens (and quite a shock if you are not expecting it) it does become quite a chore trying to get it off the ceiling.
