Having used original source mint and tea tree shower gel for may years, my husband and sons recently decided to try this product too. It has the same lovely clean smell as the shower gel and gives the same fresh tingly feeling to the skin of your face when you shave. The gel is thick and smooth, and the razor glides smoothly through it. Afterwards it washes off easily leaving your face feeling smooth and fresh. We have also found that if you add a little water to it it will lather up on your face rather like a traditional shaving foam, but then it is not so smooth for shaving. However this method I have found works well if you wish to shave your legs because a little product then goes a long way, leaving you with smooth fresh feeling and slightly tingly legs. Good product and we will be searching for others in the original source range
Mint and Tea Tree products have long been a favourite of mine and especially those on offer from the Original Source range (simply the best products on the market in my opinion) so with needing a good quality shaving gel due to skin problems which I suffer from so when I spotted this offering I simply had to give it a shot but was it another impressive offering or one of the let downs? Here is what I have found.... Pros: This is a high quality shaving gel which is of a good consistency and foams up just the right amount to allow for you to use a small amount but get a great shave and so allows you to have a great value for money product. The product comes in a well designed packaging with the simple metal canister having a good pump action that allows you to get the exact amount you wish to each and every time and so cut out waste. Having skin conditions I need to have a shave gel that allows for drag/resistence free shave and thankfully this product offers a great shave that when used with a good razor does allow a comfortable shave. The shave gel being mint and tea tree means that when you shave your skin feels nice and refreshed and after your shave is finished your skin feels nourished which I simply love. The smell from the gel is gorgeous and is something I find very uplifting and refreshing. Negatives: None In my opinion Original Source products are the best in the market and this shave gel is just another example of that and with it being a lovely mint and tea tree smell that comes with it I love using this. I find that the shave gel is great and allows a comfortable shave with less drag than other gels out there. Great value for money and still a top line product that I highly recommend.
For me shaving my bits and pieces on a regular basis is simply a must do! I can't bear fuzzy and hairy bits and although I've tried everything to remove body hair over the years I always go back to wet shaving for quick and usually pain free results. However I am a clumsy clot and more often than not nick and cut myself which is why I always buy a shaving foam or gel in with my weekly shop. I spotted this one costing a pound a can (instead of closer to £2.00 a can when not on offer) in my local Asda store and knowing that I needed this type of product as I was running out of the one I had been using, was attracted to the price of it so I bought it. What I didn't actually realise was this is a product made for men in mind! The Packaging: The can is tall and silver mainly in colour with flashes of green on it and on the front of it we are told that it is Original Source 'Men' Cooling Shave Gel With Tea Tree And Mint 'A cooler Way To A Closer Shave' and then on the back of the can other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it, ingredients and cautions are listed as is the size stated which in this case is 200ml and contact details for PZ Cussons (the manufacturer of the product) are given. To the top of the can there is an aerosol style black plastic button that you press to use (which is ever so simple to use) and over that an easy to pull on/off see-through black lid. The Shave Gel: Press the button to the top of the can down and out flows a steady stream of dark green transparent gel that has a bit of white foam on it once dispensed. All you do is lather it up wherever you want to use it, which it does easily and a really small amount goes a very small way and then shave with a razor to remove it from the skin! This has a really fresh, clean and very natural fragrance of mint to it with a hint of a tee tree smell and so it should do really considering that Original Source profess on the back of the can that it takes 3,717 leaves to make this can of product. I love the fresh clean smell of this and it really is very fragrant indeed! However for me this really does gives a cooling sensation on the skin and in my case far too much so...it makes me feel cold and then when I've used it and rinse it off even with warm water I go even colder which just isn't comfortable at all! However it does help to give me a very close shave. I use it on my legs, bikini line and armpits and so on and a little of this goes a very, very long way indeed and leaves my skin feeling really refreshed, a bit tingly and certainly baby soft smooth (providing I use a decent razor of course!). This is a quality and kind product to the skin and as promised on the can is a skin cooler but whilst that may be ok say on a mans face it isn't so great or comfortable on my skin sadly. I like the concept, appreciate that it fulfills its promises...maybe great for men as a refreshing shaving gel first thing or on women in the height of summer but not for me sadly in this fragrance! Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc. This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
As a man I shave, fact! And this fact brings with it hideous amounts of research, testing and paying for stuff to put on yer face before the big kick off. I have tried the rest and now I'm using the best. When I first got this stuff out of the can and lathered it up it smelled so good I wanted to eat it! Yes yes I know what you're thinking... ok I tried some and it didn't taste as good as i thought it should have, but I digress from the point :P The combination of tea tree and mint calms and soothes your face and makes shaving almost chore free. After using this stuff my skin always feels really fresh, smooth and looks great too. As a man with sensitive skin I'd highly recommend this product to anybody who'll listen. Nivea/gillette may be the brand leaders, but this stuff beats the crap out of them!
I have struggled for a long time with wet shaving, due to to the fact that my skin is incredibly sensitive. Over the last decade or so I feel as thought I had tried every womens's product including those intended for sensitive skin, however their use has always led to an incredibly irritating heat rash on my legs, which is particularly prevalent at night. Not really being left with any other method of hair removal that was appropriate for me for the most part I have had to grin and bear it and just carry on trying different products in hope! I picked up this product on a whim having already used and enjoyed the Original Source shower gels. It was on special offer and I purchased it during an online grocery shop so was not really aware that it was considered a male grooming product. However, at this stage i was not sure that this would have put me off. On arrival it came in the same bold packaging as you would expect from original source products. The bulk of the aerosol cans is silver and quite attractive. I have found as a rule that a little goes a long way and that the nozzle is quite, well generous, when distributing the product. The scent is very intense and actually quite refreshing - it really wakes you up in the morning. The texture is probably exactly as you would expect from a shave gel and leaves skin feeling really soft and smooth. Wonders upon wonder, I have not faced any skin irritation from this product which I am absolutely thrilled about! This product, prides itself on its high level of essential oil content rather than synthetic fragrance - which may be the difference that means have had no negative reaction from it. All in all, I think that this product is fantastic and I am so glad to have something I can finally use long term rather than this constant trial and error. This product is available for £2.49 from Boots but is also available from larger supermarket stores, where it is often on special offer alongside other products from The Original Source range.
I was in my local supermarket a few weeks back and saw this on the shelf, i have used the original source shower gels a few times and liked them (but always found them expensive, although you can find them in poundland now!) so i thought i would take a chance on this. I suffer from razor burn every now and then so thought i would see what happens. This is a shaving gel so it comes out like an aerosol can and you do have to be a bit careful that you dont squeeze too much or for too long because you will use too much! You dont actually need to use much of this stuff though, i would say you need about the size of two or three 50p pieces in your palm as the gel foams up and goes on your face really nicely. It has the most amazing minty smell to it as well, which has a nice sort of tingle to it when you put it on your face. I usually leave it on for a couple of minutes and put my razor in some nice hot water. (always have a nice hot water and soap wash before shaving to open up them pores!). I use a gillette fusion to shave with (see my other review :) ) and found that this works really well with it. The blades go through the foam very nicely and i dont cut myself too much. I think it has also helped my skin as well as my girlfriend often says that my skin looks a lot better for a couple of days after I shave so i would definatly reccommend this product! Its priced at around £2 - £3 in most of the places I go to, thats for a 200ml bottle. I find that one bottle, shaving around twice a week will last me around 3 months, which if you put into perspective is very cheap! All in all great poduct and it even comes in a nice aluminium bottle as well!
I'm very particular in the shaving products I use as cheaper products usually give me a rash. My usual gel costs around £3.99. Having to be somewhere at short notice, I needed to buy a full wash kit and the only place en route did not supply my usual brand. I went for the next brand I knew something about, Original Source and grabbed a can of Mint and Tea Tree shave gel. I had used their products in the past but never shaving products. The thick green gel changes quickly to a rich lather when applied to your face. The minty aroma is also pleasant. I left it on for a few minutes while I answered a call. The gel was cool and soothing. When it came to the actual shaving, the razor glid smoothly, leaving no burn or irritation and after rinsing, my face felt fresh and revitalised. it also passed the girlfriend test; "I'm not kissing you until you shave REALLY smoothly!!"; with flying colours. Original Source products are made from natural oils, without synthetic fragrances and are not tested on animals. The packaging is fresh and stylish and the can is recyclable aluminium. I stated at the beginning that I don't use cheaper products, but looking at the receipt, it only cost £0.99 for a 200ml can! This was from Savers which I know is a discount store, but I was still suprised. As their offers are sometimes limited, I went back and bought 5 more later so that should last me the year. I'd highly recommend this product to any shaver, especially those who have sensitive skin.
