I received this Paul Frank aftershave as a Christmas present at Christmas '10 from my brother's girlfriend, at this point i wasn't too familiar with Paul Smith, i know of the brand however I'd never purchased any of there items and was unaware that they even had an aftershave line. First of all i open the nimble and brightly designed box that it came in to see quite a nice sleekly designed bottle, first thing that i noticed was that it was a rather small bottle, on closer inspection when i turned it upside down i saw that it was only 30 ml, rather small i thought for an aftershave bottle. The bottle design is a quite small compact little square which fits in neatly on a toiliteries shelf and also makes good for packing in holiday/ over night bags. The dispersion mechanism comes in the form of a spray lid with a little sucker thing draped on the inside of the bottle allowing you to get every last drop out. The actual scent of the aftershave is a very sweet yet sort of musky manly scent if you ask me, It's not one of these very feminine aftershaves a lot of men wear nowadays but a more manly one but a soft tinge to it allowing it to be very easy on the nose. In conclusion I think it's a nice fragrance but the obscenely small bottle size means it put my off slightly where i maybe would have rated it slightly better before.
Having tried a number of Paul Smith fragrances recently I was tempted by the offer in Semi Chem, a 100ml bottle of Paul Smith Extreme for Men for a bargain £12.99. I really am in my partners good books at the minute! This is another classy fragrance from Paul Smith, everything from the top quality heavy glass bottle and chic styling, to the actual fragrance itself, does exude luxury. The bottle is quietly stylish, it has the trademark Paul Smith 'stripes' running down the narrow sides of the clear glass container and will look great on any bathroom shelf. This scent is described as a spicy woody fragrance which I find quite intense, but in a good way. It opens with quite a clean crisp burst of bergamont and rosemary, which gives this a nice fresh green aroma without being overly floral. I do detect notes of nutmeg, but it is very subtle. After the initial fresh green burst has mellowed, the heart notes give this fragrance quite an intense edge with the combination of geranium, which I always find quite powerful, rosewood and tonka bean. Some of these notes do continue through to full dry down. The sandalwood and musk in this fragrance give this aftershave a slight sensual edge, making this perfect for evening. It has amazing lasting capacity, I spritzed some of this on my hand for the purpose of this review over 6 hours ago and it still smells lovely, very warm and distinctive, earthy but still retaining a little spice also. Although this is a very modern fragrance, I do feel it has the capacity to become another classic, like many of the other Paul Smith fragrances on the market. I feel that aftershave is suitable for all ages and is quite timeless. I would definitely recommend this, especially at the great price I paid. I would make a repeat purchase, and would be confident giving this as a gift. I feel that it is quite a universal fragrance suitable for most men.
Being a girl who enjoys sensual aspects of life. I love eating and drinking good food and rose wine. I love stroking my cat and feeling my piano keys under my fingertips. I love hearing the sound of trickling water, or him singing to me after we kiss. I love feeling the wind on my skin after getting out of a warm swim in the ocean. Bearing this in mind, this fragrance has managed something extremely spectacular. It is within that list above as - losing myself in the smell of him on my skin when I go home to sleep. This is an extremely powerful fragrance which I believe is the most heavenly smell that I can imagine. After spending a night with a much loved man, this fragrance has remained in my mind ever since. It has a light and sexy smell which lingers on your skin for hours and hours and hours, which is what is needed. No continuous need to apply. I could still smell it into the next night when I went to sleep. (as I didn't want to wash it off the next morning it smelt so good!). It is delicate and doesn't overpower you, but it is just enough to notice and register how gorgeous it is! Now, I swear I still swoon and my mind zones out whenever I get a whiff of it as someone drifts by wearing it. The packaging is funky and has a light and free colour scheme which keeps the fragrance edgy and youthful, but still mature and sophisticated. Although I do not use the product myself, I feel that generally when I apply perfume, I do so to build confidence by knowing it may effect someone. A friend, a boyfriend, a passer-by... you never know! And this fragrance does just this. It's touched my heart, and for a few droplets of water, thats pretty amazing. Thoroughly reccomend to any guy who wants to leave their partner in a state of bliss after contact. Leave them remembering your smell and you for a very, very long time.
