This is a review of Pretty Polly Nourishing Leg Shaving Butter. I bought the tub from the 99p shop as I don't really like using shaving foam (because you never know when the can's going to run out!).
If you didn't know, pretty polly, famous for their tights have brought out a range of 'leg' products (see my previous review on the leg oil if interested). The purple packaged range is mostly variations on leg tan and bronzer etc. and the blue range are more to do with bathing products. They also do a foot scrub in the blue range but I haven't tried that yet.
Packaged in a blue tub, you get 150 ml of the product which is plenty. It has a screw on top and has a nice smooth aesthetic feel to the jar which is made of plastic.
The product inside the jar reminds me of old fashioned cold cream. Really thick and gloopy and not much smell to it but a little big goes a long way. It also feels cold when you put it on your skin.
^^How does it work?^^
You just rub it onto the area you plan to shave and it helps the razor to glide across your skin. As with shaving gel or foam it leaves a track where you've done so you can easily see where is left to go. I felt happy with the result and outcome, nice and smooth and also leaves your legs a little moisturised.
I heard a tip that you can use hair conditioner to shave your legs and I think this cream works on that concept too.
^^ the downside^^
Product quickly clogs up the razor blade. If you're in the bath then it floats on the water creating a bit of a 'scum' effect which isn't really very pleasant. You also need to give the bath a good scrub afterwards as it adds to the dirty ring you get round the watermark of the bath.
It's well worth the 99p price, kind to skin and legs. Quick and easy to use, good brand and nice packaging. Not sure I'd want to pay the full price for this product (more than a fiver) but I have liked using it to date and will probably buy another one when I'm back in '99p world'!
