I alternate between using shaving foams/gels, just plain old shower gel, and even conditioner when shaving my legs, underarms, bikini line etc. I do prefer to use a shaving foam/gel as I do think that I get a much closer shave when using these, but I don't always buy them as I think that they're overpriced for what they are. A friend recommended this Wild Berry Shaving Gel from Tesco, and so I figured I'd give it a go.
This was £1.20 from Tesco, and it's a 200ml can. That's quite a good price when you compare it to the price of Gillette and other branded shaving foams/gels.
This is a shaving gel rather than a shaving foam, and you do need to shake the can well before you dispense the gel otherwise the gel is a bit too liquid and runny. If you've shook the can then when you dispense the gel onto your fingertips it's a thick and substantial gel, and it holds it's shape well. The gel is a purple'ish/pink'ish colour, and it does have a faint 'wild berry' fragrance. The wild berry fragrance doesn't linger on my skin at all, in fact it's completely disappeared by the time I've showered after shaving. I don't mind that the wild berry fragrance is fairly faint, and that it doesn't linger on my skin, as this means that it doesn't clash with my shower gel and body lotion.
The shaving gel stays fairly thick and substantial when I rub it over my skin, it leaves a fairly thick and slightly foamy purple gel covering over my skin. I find that I just need to use a small blob to cover each leg, and then the residue on my hands is enough to coat under my arms. The gel stays put on my skin and doesn't dissolve or disappear or run off my legs at all. This enables me to shave really quickly as I can see where I've shaved, and where I'll still got to do. My razor very easily glides across my skin using this shaving gel.
The shaving gel doesn't irritate or sting my legs at all, and more importantly it doesn't sting or irritate my underarms or bikini line. It enables me to get a close and smooth shave on my legs, underarms and bikini line. Any shaving gel residue left after I've finished shaving rinses off easily enough. The shaving gel also rinses off my razor easily enough, and doesn't clog my razor blades at all. This doesn't dry out my skin at all, I do always use a body lotion, however my skin doesn't feel taut and dry after using this.
I'll definitely buy this again as it works just as well as the more expensive branded shaving foams/gels, and it's much cheaper.
I always use a shaving gel when shaving my legs, as I find that they protect my skin when shaving much better than just using soap and water. I used to use Gillette Venus Satin Care gel, but usually priced at around £3, I found that I had to stock up when I saw it on offer anywhere, as it is rather pricey. I saw this Tesco shaving gel a couple of years ago for a much cheaper price and thought I would give it a go, and I haven't looked back since. This shaving gel is currently priced at £1.20 (full price) at Tesco for a 200ml bottle, which is a bargain in comparison to Tesco's £3.39 price tag for the Gillette Venus Satin Care gel.
The Tesco shaving gel comes in an attractive purple bottle, with a matching purple lid, and has a picture of berries on the front. The gel is dispensed by pressing down on the pump on the top of the bottle, and I have always found it to dispense fairly easily. I tried using a branded shaving mousse a while ago and found that it was very noisy to dispense, whereas gels are extremely quiet to dispense.
The gel is a purple colour (so everything is colour co-ordinated!) and smells of berries. I might have imagined this, but I think this gel used to have a fairly strong berry scent, whereas newer versions smell much more subtle, but I'm not particularly bothered about this, as it's the effectiveness of a shaving gel that I'm most bothered about. The gel is of a reasonable thickness, which is great as it means it doesn't run straight down my legs and into the plughole before I can shave them. I find that I only have to use a decent blob of the product in order to shave each leg, and I would say the amount of this product that I use at a time is the same as I have used for other brands, meaning that this gel should last just as long as other gels. The product has never irritated my skin, and it helps my skin to feel soft and smooth once I have shaved. My legs do often feel dry after shaving them and so I have to apply a moisturiser after showering, but I find this after shaving using any brand of gel, and I think they would feel much drier if I used soap and water instead of this gel.
I feel that this shaving gel is just as effective as other brands I have tried at a much lower price, it has a nice very subtle smell and I would certainly recommend it.
As I mentioned in my previous review I need to always use shaving gel when shaving my legs to avoid getting a nasty rash or skin irritation. I simply couldn't shave dry as it would leave my legs in pieces! I tried this Tesco "satin feel wild berry shaving gel" when I was looking for a cheaper alternative to some of the branded shaving gels.
This shaving gel comes in a purple can with the name of the product and a picture of some berries on the front. The can is quite bright and easily spotted on the supermarket shelves. It is also quite feminine and looks good in your bathroom. The can holds 200ml of shaving gel. The lid is also purple and just pulls on and off, revealing a button underneath which you press to dispense some of the shaving gel.
When you press the button a bright purple shaving gel is released. When I apply it to damp legs, the gel turns into a foam. I would say that in comparison to the more expensive branded shaving gels this product is a bit more runny, however this is not a major problem as it still stays put on my legs until I shave them. I find that due to the slightly more runny consistency I actually use less of this product that I would with thicker shaving gels, therefore making it last longer.
After shaving my legs with this gel I simply rinse it off in the shower. My legs feel smooth and soft and all stubble and hairs has been effectively removed. I find that this shaving gel leaves my legs feeling noticeably moisturised and even after drying I get no itchiness or irritation. This shaving gel smells quite nice, it is quite an artificial smell but is sweet and fruity and leaves my bathroom smelling good.
It's product currently costs £1.28 in my local Tesco and when I compare that to the over £3 that is charged for the branded shaving gels, I think it's a complete bargain. I give it 4* and would recommend it for anyone who wants to buy shaving gel at a reasonable price. Thanks for reading/rating and I hope this reviews was useful to you.
The product is a gentle ladies shaving gel which is scented with wild berries. I actually bought this review due to its brilliant reviews on Dooyoo and so far haven't been disappointed!
--Price and availability--
It is a Tesco own brand product and is to be found in cosmetics sections of Tesco stores. I have a Tesco Extra in my town so I am not sure about the availability in smaller Tesco stores. However, the product is also available online on the Tesco website.
The product is priced at £1.10, which is less than competing brands such as the Gillette ladies shaving gel, and at this price it is great value for money for the amount of product that you get.
I found the shaving gel easy to use and apply, you simply press the pump at the top of the bottle and squeeze a small amount onto your fingers and rub onto the skin immediately to lather. I found a little goes a long way so you really don't need much shaving gel to create a lot of lather, which I thought was a great feature of the product.
The scent is very fruity and the burst of berries is apparent as soon as you have applied some of the gel.
The product was effective and left me smelling delicious and with satin smooth skin. The product did the job it advertised, as providing a shaving gel rich in moisture which stopped snagging of the skin with the razor.
I have been using soap and water previously so there was a huge difference and I will be buying this product again as it only took one attempt to shave my legs instead of having to go over the same area more than once.
The product left my skin feeling silky smooth and moisturised which was an added bonus for a shaving gel.
I thought that the gel was price effective as I know it will last me a long time as you only need to use a tiny amount to get the job done!
Silky smooth, effective, fresh smelling shaving gel for a smooth shave for ladies. Silky smooth, fruity shave for just £1.10
Why I Chose It?
I have had terrible luck recently on the shaving gel front. The ones I have used in the past have either felt like rubber, not done the job properly or have just been rather nasty. This week I was in Tesco and noticed this rather colourful purple tin - which immediately caught my eye. If the packaging didn't catch my eye, the price certainly did! £1.10 for a shave gel is fairly average for a basic brand like Tesco, Superdrug, Wilkinson etc although having used it I would say that it was well worth that price.
With some products price outweighs quality, which is certainly not the case with this shaving gel which slightly surprised me. I thought it would do the job, i.e allow me to shave my legs, but certainly not the quality shave I got.
The gel itself is a purple colour and it feels very silky and smooth, which actually feels very nice. The razor simply glides through the gel and takes off the hair, in almost an effortless motion.
The scent is berry, as described, although it is not one of the overpowering, hideous aromas that nearly knock you off your feet. I thought Tesco did a good job on that front - mainly because the scent is berry, and nobody wants to be smelling of berry all day.
It's so good that I cannot even think of any legitimate negative points, which is most unlike me, as I usually like to make a point of making others aware of both the positive and negative aspects of a product.
Would I recommend It?
Absolutely! The price is average but the quality is far from average and I would go as far as saying that this shaving gel is the best I have ever used - something I am not afraid to state. It is well worth the money!
Like most other people I do look for a bargain when shopping, particularly for everyday essentials like shaving gel. At £1 it would have been rude not to try this Satin Feel Shaving Gel, particularly as I am a lover of all smells berry.
Well, it was a pleasant surprise. One small pump of this gel bursts into foam and is easily spread over the area you wish to shave. It gives you a nice smooth shave and helps protect your skin from any nicks or grazes. Some shaving gels and foam are quite stubborn to wash off of your skin, and leave a kind of residue behind, but Tesco's own brand rinses off no problem at all. After your shave, it leaves your skin smelling lovely of berries, and lasts for some time.
I would recommend this shave gel to anyone who likes the smell of berries (as it is quite a strong but nice smell) and there is no point in spending a lot of money on an essential when you can get a great product like this for half the price.
One product that I don't use or buy very often is shaving gel or really any kind of shaving sort of soap. I find a shower gel or a bar of soap to do the job and be cost effective however lately I have been getting a shaving rash and lots of nicks and cuts so when I saw this on sale at £1.10 for large 200ml can I thought I should try it out.
Now I must point out something that strikes me as a wee bit odd before I get stuck into reviewing this product. On this review it is called Rich Berry, on the Tesco website it is called the same but on the can it is called Wild Berry! Its exactly the same product and my can is exactly the same as shown here on this website as well as Tesco! Odd that!
Well as I have already stated this comes in a can and that can is a nice purple colour with a white push button dispenser to the top of it and a clear purple plastic domed shape lid that fits perfectly over that. On the front of the can we are told that it is Tesco Satin Feel Shaving Gel 'For Women', Wild Berry 'Moisture rich, luscious berry fragrance'. On the back of the can we are told once again what it is and how to use it, warnings , ingredients and size is stated and contact details for Tesco are given. It is a nice looking, large can this one, doesn't scream out that its cheap and is robust and with a good solid dispenser to the top of it.
All you do to use this is use it before or after you've washed your body that is your choice of course. I gently shake my can and a lilac thickish gel comes out that turns a bit white with foam on it and then as I spread it over my legs, bikini line and armpits not only does it release a gorgeous feminine smell of sweet natural berries it lathers up great and smears over the area really well without feeling greasy or anything adverse at all.
My razors glide through this beautifully, I feel that I get a closer shave using this and do feel that my skin is gently moisturised after using this too in a really good way. I haven't had one cut, graze or nick since using this and razor burn?...... Well that's gone too! My skin feels better, I feel my overall shaving is a better experience with better results and that my skin is really cared for and that my skin not only looks better but feels it to from within.
I recommend this lovely scented and easy to use product to anyone...particularly ladies of course...its great and worth every penny in my view!

I have bought this shaving gel several times now. There are advantages and disadvantages to this shaving gel but it is still one of my favourites. This shaving gel comes in 'Rich Berry'. It is an excellent price compared to other shaving gels (especially the branded ones) as I purchased it for only £1.
The packaging is attractive, in a nice purple colour. It claims to have a satin feel, which it definitely does, it left my legs and underarms feeling silky and divine. It also acted as great moisturiser which is always a bonus. I also have sensitive skin, and didn't have any problems with itching, rashes or redness on my legs or underarms from this product.
The bottle is of average size for shaving gels and it comes with a cute purple plastic lid to cover the dispenser. The gel is also purple in colour but to be honest I'm not a great fan of the smell. It does have a hint of berry but is also masked by a slightly odd smell, which I still can't quite put my finger on as to what it is. The gel doesn't lather up as much as some shaving gels I have used in the past but still does its job satisfactory. The gel is nice and thick meaning you're less likely to cut yourself. I also found that it lasted me quite a while as I didn't have to use that much product.
This shaving gel has become a regular purchase of mine whilst doing my shopping at Tesco, mainly because it is excellent value for money. Like most people I tend to shop around a lot more these days, and am not particularly loyal to brands of most items therefore can save a lot of money by choosing the cheapest or the ones with best offers.
This shaving gel is a bargain. It costs around £1 and in comparison to the other shaving gels on the market it is considerably cheaper. The bottle is purple (which also matches my bathroom colour scheme - always a bonus), and it has a click on lid. To use the shaving gel you just press the button on the top, and it comes out in purple gel form. The gel doesn't lather quite as well as the branded alternatives, which means you might end up using slightly more, but I think it still works out cheaper because most branded products are priced around £3 for the same sized can.
I must admit to not being a big fan of the smell of this shaving gel, it's described as berries and from the picture this is what you expect, but I just find it strong smelling and couldn't really say what it smells like. It's not unpleasant though, and the smell doesn't linger on your skin so there's only you who knows what it smells like. I think it's worth ignoring this to make the saving!
I suffer from dry skin in general, and try to choose products which will help moisturise my skin and leave it rehydrated. For this reason I always used to choose a branded product, which had a shaving gel for dry or sensitive skin. Since using the Tesco shaving gel, however, I can't say I've noticed any difference in my skin, and it still leaves it quite moisturised and doesn't dry it out. I use moisturiser after shaving my legs anyway, so I don't think this would put me off buying a shaving gel, but it is an added bonus that it does leave your skin moisturised.
I will continue to use this shaving gel, as it's a good saving on your expenditure for essentials, and apart from not lathering as well as the branded products it performs almost as well.
After running out of shaving foam, I spotted this product on my next trip to the supermarket. Given the choice of a more expensive foam, or Tesco Moisture Rich for Women, for just £1, I knew which one fitted my budget and thought "let's give it a go".
====Look & Smell====
The gel is quite thick when it comes out of the can and remains so until you start to use it. It is purple in a appearance but turns white as the foam starts to activate. The fragrance, which is berry flavoured, reminds me of the cherry jelly sweets I used to get for a penny as a child. It is a very sweet smell, which probably wouldn't appeal to men, which is just as well as it will keep it safe for us girls!
====Application & Use====
As I mentioned, the gel is quite thick and for want of a better word, firm. I would recommend applying this into your hand, as it doesn't stick to your leg on application. Instead it will slide straight off into the water - what a waste! It lathers up quite quickly into a lovely, creamy foam that doesn't disintegrate in a matter of seconds as some foams can. When shaving, it provides a lovely close shave and so far - touch wood - I have never cut myself whilst using this product. The lather allows you to easily see where you have already shaved, reducing the need to go over and over the same spots again, just in case you missed them. Once you have finished, any remaining lather easily washes off with warm water.
My legs are left feeling lovely and soft and hydrated from the moisturising effect of the shaving foam. My skin is left feeling very smooth to touch and has a healthy glow. The can says this product is suitable for use on legs, bikini area and underarms and so far, I have had no irritation after using the foam, which is always a plus.
This is very girly, being in a lovely purple colour. It's a standard can, with a button at the top to dispense the foam. It will easily jump out of wet hands, but for £1, you can't really complain! It is easy to use and to control how much foam comes out.
Yes, definitely! This product is affordable and it really works. I am all for the cheaper option and if it performs as well as more expensive brands, then why pay more? I have sensitive skin under my arms and have had no problems with this product at all, so would say if you have sensitive skin, then give it a go.
Also on ciao
I have to say that it was the price that attracted me to this product as in my local store it was on offer at 3 for £3. Given that this meant I was getting 600ml for £3 I considered that to be a good price so long as it was a good product and that was the slight gamble as I had never used a Tesco own brand shaving gel before.
It comes in a light purple can that is meant to denote the berry smell in the product title. The one big drawback to this product actually is that the berry smell is rather synthetic and slightly tinmny in my opinion, it is not unpleasant but it is not exactly nice either, thankfully after washing and applying body spray you cannot detect it on your skin so it is not a big deal really.
The gel itself lathers up easily and certainly you do not need to use a lot of it at any one time. I would not say that it possesses any fantastic moisturising qualities to it, my skin felt smooth after shaving but not exactly hydrated, as a gel to aid smooth shaving it cannot be faulted and certainly is a good functional product. My razor glided nice and smoothly over my skin and the hair was removed easily. Certainly after use there was no irritation or post shave rash.
I would certainly have no problem with buying this again when my current supply runs out as you do not need to use a great deal so it helps you economise and the normal retail price of about £1.30 makes it a good price even when not on special offer. The only downside for me is the slightly tinny smell to the gel.
Well I've been using this saving cream, for a number of months now. Overall I think it's a good product, considering it cost little over £1. The saving gel comes in an aerosol type can, with purple colour base design and picture of berries on the front.
The product also seems to last me a decent amount of time, even when using it virtually everyday. It has decent smell of a berry mixture, but this can sometimes be a bit too overpowering and smells slightly artificial.
It has a simple, easy to use distributor. However I found that sometimes you can end up with way more than you need, due to large push down 'button'. The gel itself has a good consistency, which easily turns into a smooth, velvety foam. The razor glides easily across the skin, leaving a good finish, and catching even the shortest of hairs.
I frequently use the cream for my legs, underarms ad bikini areas, and have found that I hardly ever get any cuts. The gel is said to moisturize the skin as well, as far as I can tell this is true as my skin doesn't dry out.
Overall I think this is a highly effective shaving cream, which I would recommend to anyone as a cheaper alternative to major brands.
I've been using this Tesco own brand shaving gel for a couple of years now, after trialling it for Tesco Home Panels and loving the scent and also the soothing effect it had on my skin. I also use other brands, but this is one of those cheaper alternatives for when the shopping budget won't stretch to a branded shaving product.
It comes in an attractive can which is exactly the same as the one in the piccie above, I love the purple tones of the can and think it looks much more feminine that a lot of other brands available. And even more feminine than when I pinch Marks shaving foam, something I don't do often as I get told off for leaving the can in a drippy mess!
This gel has a gorgeous berry scent, it's very synthetic but Tesco have given it a delicious sugary aroma which rivals anything else in my bathroom. Sometimes I'll squeeze a bit out and just sit sniffing it for a while before remembering I'm supposed to be spreading the foam along my legs! It doesn't smell of any one berry in particular, having more of a general summer fruits scent which lingers for a while on my skin after shaving.
It comes out of the can in a gel state and doesn't really foam up much until you start to spread it on your skin. If you give the can a particularly vigorous shake you may well get a small amount of foam attached to the gel in your hand, but this isn't always the case. I personally prefer this low foaming gel as sometimes you get so much foam from a shaving gel that you can barely get your razor through it - and definitely can't see where you have already shaved! This isn't the case with this one, as I spread it along my legs (or round my underarms or bikini line) I can see a small amount of foam developing but it still retains a slight gel-like consistency.
This makes it a simple process to draw the razor across my skin and I feel the blades can get hold of even the finest hair regrowth due to the consistency of the gel. I defuzz extremely regularly as I hate feeling 'stubbly' so can suffer from irritated skin due to the razor if I don't use a decent shaving gel. I can honestly say this one is more than decent, it not only helps me to shave effectively but also leaves my skin feeling moisturised and very happy.
My one complaint about it is that it does leave my legs feeling quite sticky after use, this obviously isn't too much of a problem as most women either shave in the shower or jump straight in after shaving to remove any shaving gel residue as well as any loose hairs. I do find I need to actually wash my skin with a shower gel after using this, rather than just standing under the hot water and letting it cleanse my newly shaved skin naturally.
This stickiness is not a major drawback however, and I am more than happy to recommend this shaving gel to anyone. The scent is gorgeous, and although I have already commented that it's a feminine scent I'd still say the guys reading should give it a try as you may indeed like the summery aroma it will leave on your skin. It's one of the kindest shaving gels I've ever used, something which surprised me actually as own brand shaving gels very rarely live up to the excellence of their branded counterparts.
£1 (or thereabouts) from Tesco.
I have been using this shaving gel now for quite a few years, I have tried many different ones but always come back to this one. Although not because it is the best I have used, just because it is cheap and good enough for what I use it for.
I have used a number of leading brand shaving gels like Gillette satin care, which all create a thick creamy lather on the skin and feel nice and soft, and you get a really smooth finish using these. However I don't find I get a very good lather with this gel at all, you need to use quite a large amount for it to be thick enough on your legs to use, so the bottle doesn't actually last long. You have to sort of rub in on your legs quite a bit to work up a good layer to use.
However even though you have to use quite a large amount, and it takes a while to work up a nice layer on your skin, it does work very well. I only use it on my legs, and it gives me a smooth enough finish for the price. Others I have used, your skin feels so smooth and soft, and not at all prickly like you haven't shaved properly. With this one, I don't think it is as good as leading brands at giving you a smooth finish.
My skin does feel quite soft after using it, not as soft as other products I have used but still nice. At least it doesn't dry your skin out, and it is great for my sensitive skin, I have never had any irritation from it at all.
The bottle is a nice deep purple, which does really stand out and is the same standard bottle as Gillette satin care shaving gels, you just press the top and the gel comes out. It always comes out easy enough, and the gel is a little pink in colour.
The smell of this shaving gel is called wild berry, which actually smells really nice. It is quite a strong smell, but nice, and very fruity. It doesn't linger on the skin though after I have had a shower, I can never smell it afterwards.
I buy this shaving gel from Tesco for just £1, which is an excellent price for this product. It certainly isn't the best or as good as leading brands, but for the price it is decent enough for me to use on a daily basis, even though it doesn't tend to last long, it is cheap enough to replace.
I would recommend this shaving gel if you are on a budget, but don't expect it to be luxurious or anything, but it does the job well enough for the price!
~A very berry shave gel~
When I spotted this Tescos own brand ladies shave gel product in store I though it looked reasonably well presented with its lightly shaded berry toned colouring, that gave a neat and fresh look. The price wasn't too bad either which was another thing in the products favour, although to be fair the main thing that attracted me towards buying this was the lure of the promised berry scented rich moisturising gel within the can as I thought it sounded quite nice. Having used the product I found that the promised scent was indeed very berry influenced and even though it was a sweet synthetic berry scent that was released when using the product I still found it pleasing to use.
~Presentation and ease of use~
The look of the product as mentioned is neat and simple with a colour tone picked out to reflect what you are getting with the product itself. The 200ml sized canister works as it should with it having an easy to press and use applicator that delivers a good amount of the gel as needed. I did find that pressing down on the applicator more gently enabled me to get the amount of gel that I wanted each time rather than using too much force and ending up with excess gel that was more than I needed to use. By using the applicator with a little more care I found that it was easy enough to get the balance right. I found that the lid was something that was a little difficult to place onto the top of the canister after use with wet hands and mostly waited until I had dried them off to replace the lid correctly.
The shave gel that you get has the promised berry scented fragrance to it that is sweet and synthetic yet rather pleasant to use and the thin gel soon transforms to become a rich and creamy lather that when massaged onto the skin allows a razor to glide softly and easily across the skin. I found that using less of the product gave better results than applying the product too thickly as when doing that you can end up clogging up the razor too quickly. You do need to rinse the shave head and cutting blades of your razor from time to time when using this in order to get the best results as the lathered up gel can build up over time. I found that the soap free blend used to make up the gel didn't cause any drying or redness to the skin after use when I used the product which I was pleased about. I wouldn't say that I noticed any stand out moisturising properties when using this although I can say that it didn't dry out my skin.
~Price and rating~
This ladies berry scented shave gel works quite well and offers good value for money with a little of the product going a long way. I wouldn't say that it is the best shave gel I have used although I do feel that it works well and has a fresh berry scent that is appealing and pleasant. As you get 200mls of the product for £1.30, value for money is good as one can of this will last some time even with regular use. I quite liked the fact that the berry scent was geared towards women using the product too, as quite often many shave products have less feminine scents to them making them more suitable as a unisex shave product. Over all I feel that this product was quite nice to use so I want to give it 4 star rating.
