I have been trying to use razors recently instead of my electric shaver as I feel they are better for my skin. My electric shaver really hurts my skin, I wanted to buy something that would be sharp and give me a nice finish. I saw this is in super drug and what attracted me to it was the fact that it had a trimmer on the other end of the razor. It was usually £12.99 but it was on sale and it was only £5 so I thought it was worth a try.
What does it look like:
One side looks just like a normal razor, it has four blades and a blade on the back for precision trimming. What makes this unique is that to the other end of the razor, there is a battery powered trimmer which can be used for facial hair, body hair and side burns. It is an all in one hair trimmer and it looks pretty stylish! The trimmer is of good quality and can cut through tough hair.
Does it work:
The actual razor is really sharp and cut through my hair nicely leaving it very smooth. The razor has a small lining of balm which is released when you glide it accross your face. It didn't leave my skin in too much pain. The trimmer was great for straightening my sideburns and getting rid of the hair on the back of my neck. I also used the trimmer on my chest! It works well and cuts the hairs to the root. It is easy to use and much more comfortable then I expected it too be. I really liked how easy to razor glided over my face, it is certainly one of the best I have used before and I will be buying replacement heads for this as it works well. Far better and a closer shave than my electric shaver, I much prefer this.
Really good product and I believe it is worth it's full price. It works well and is easy to use, batteries are included and they last for ages. It comes with a wall mount so it is easy to store. This product gets 5 stars from me, it is nice and smooth and cuts hairs nicely. One of the best I have used before! Thanks for reading my review. I hope it helped.
I have been using one of these for about the last 3 years now, and I will never use another razor. Before I bought this I had only ever used Gillette razors, but I often found that I was not overly impressed with the shave quality of the hard to reach areas, such as the neck area. I also was getting quite irritable skin on my neck which was very painful.
I don't know why but as soon as I started using this, all of the problems I had with the Gillette product stopped - worth noting that I was still using the same shaving gel so I can only put this down to the razor.
The Quattro comes with the normal blade head at one end, but was the first conventional razor to come with a trimmer on the bottom end. I have never used this function myself as I have a dedicated trimmer so I have no need for this one.
The Quattro comes with a vibrating function, which I think makes a big difference in terms of the quality of shave you get. The razor seperates into 2 parts to allow you to changee the batteries - this is a weak spot in the unit as if you don't out it back together properly water will get into the electricals and you will lose the vibrate function. This is a problem I have had on a couple of occasions, which have meant replacements needed!
In terms of cost, I always find razor blades ridiculously over-priced in the shops, so I always stock up on eBay - the blades here are generally about half price. I shave 2-3 times a week and probably only change a blade once a month, so in terms of value the Quattro is pretty good.
Whilst out buying some razor blades I noticed the Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium Precision Freestyle razor on offer for the unbelievably low price of £2.41. Quattro titanium blades are the only blades I will ever use and since this razor came with 2 blades I thought I would give this product a go and picked it up and it is a great bargain especially when you consider that two Quattro titanium blades (if you could buy them in singles or pairs) would set you back £2.50.
Whilst the product is the same as the one pictured, the packaging is different. My razor was in a very attractive and striking box in black and blue livery. It really does the intended job of attracting potential customer's attention (well it worked on me) and I think the marketing department have done a fantastic job with it.
Whilst looking good I think there is far too much packaging as there is not only a cardboard box but also a plastic cover protecting the contents of the box. It definitely is not environmentally friendly packaging, but then I guess this is true of a lot of products.
In the box there is the razor handle, 2 x Quattro titanium razor blades, an AAA battery to power the clippers and a razor holder (complete with suckers).
****What's it look/feel like?****
Most Wilkinson Sword razors are white, silver or blue in colour. This one is black and it looks sleek, stylish and very masculine and would not look out of place in any alpha male's bathroom.
With a soft rubber coating this razor is very comfortable to use. The thickness and weight is just right and makes for a great shave.
Whilst this razor looks great before it is used it soon becomes grimy looking and can look awful. I find that black shows up all light marks and stains, and given that razor handles are going to get excess water/shaving gel all over them this razor requires constant and thorough cleaning to keep it looking at its best. To make things worse there are small indents in the coating that get easily clogged up.
At first glance this product looks a very clever product and appears to solve every shaving problem as it consists of a proper razor blade (well four single ones to be precise), a detail blade (ideal for those hard to reach places under the nose and around the lips) and a tiny pair of electric hair clippers that can be used to style facial hair, side burns and any other body hair that you may wish to style.
Using it is a different story though. As I loaded the battery in to the product I noticed that the only 'electric' part was the hair clippers at the bottom. The main razor blade did not have the vibration function of the Wilkinson Sword Titanium Power, which I think is a real shame. I can't really tell whether the vibration head gives a closer shave over a non-vibration unit (they both use the same Quattro titanium blades that are excellent) but I do prefer a vibration unit. It just feels nice.
Using the main razor part is exactly like using a normal non-vibrating Wilkinson Sword razor, as you'd expect. A big problem is the excess water/shaving gel mix (including miniscule hairs) that dribbles down the handle of the razor whilst shaving. This runs down in to the clippers and clogs up the teeth. This means that the clippers need thoroughly washing after every normal shave, which is very monotonous since the solution is a nightmare to get out and the clipper teeth are so small it is a fiddly operation. This additional cleaning element is not good when you are in a rush in the morning. I found it is imperative that the clippers are cleaned, otherwise they do not work properly and clog up when you're trying to sculpt facial hair.
Another thing I noticed is that the clippers get rusty very quickly, especially in the damp and steamy environment of the bathroom. I found that no matter how much I dried the clippers after use they still got condensation on them and would rust up. The only way around this is to keep the razor out of the bathroom, which is not very good. I must note that the rust was only surface rust and could easily be cleaned off with a damp rag but this is also very monotonous.
The clippers are meant to be adjustable, enabling you to choose what length to leave the remaining hair. This adjustment is achieved by gently pulling the plastic cover up or down to leave the desired length. This feature is a great idea, but I find it doesn't work too well as the attachment is not tight enough and slips as you are shaving the hair. In reality what you get is too lengths, one short (i.e. with the cover left over the silver bit) and one very short (i.e. with the cover removed). I don't think this is a too big a deal as who's going to know if your facial hair is a grade 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5? In addition, who actually grades their facial hair?
So far I have focused on the negatives of this product, however there are some positives and the best thing about this product is the clippers.
When they are clean and rust free the clippers work very well and styling facial hair, and removing other hair, is effortless. The tiny size makes them perfect for what they were designed for and I have not seen any other clippers that are as small as this. The small size and battery operation makes them lightweight and very portable that can be carried around in any overnight bag.
The razor holder is a nice touch and holds the razor securely. The suckers on the back of the holder mean that it is a transferable unit that can be moved around the bathroom. This is ideal for me since my whole bathroom is tiled but if you have painted walls then it may not be so good. Despite the holder being good there is the problem in that the razor can't be kept in the bathroom as condensation causes it to rust up!
Whilst this is an excellent concept in reality it doesn't really work and is impractical to deal with what it was designed to do. As a standard razor this product is great. As a small pair of hair clippers this product is fantastic. But, combine the two and it just does not work since there are too many flaws.
If you remove the normal razor blade then what you are left with is a tiny pair of hair clippers that looks sleek, stylish and works very well. In addition they are easily transportable, have a long battery life, and if you can get hold of one for the discounted price of £2.41 then it is a great bargain.
Wait, we're still only on four blade razors? I thought that at the rate Wilkinson Sword and Gillette are pumping them out we'd have at least 12 blades by now.
Irregardless of this fact, the Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium Precision (Now there's a mouthful) is still a quality product and does what it has been designed to do very well.
The four blade razor itself hugs the skin very closely, and provides an extremely smooth shave indeed. I was extremely surprised in fact as, compared to my former Gillette Mach 3 Fusion, the quality of shave was much higher. I therefore instantly retired my former orange face friend and have, for the time being, pledged my shaving alleigance to Wilkinson Sword.
The precision 'edge blade' also works as intended, and provides a great deal of assistance in those tricky-to-get-to areas, with just underneath the nose being a prime example.
The best part of the product though, undoubtedly in my opinion, is the battery powered trimmer -- I love this thing! It has saved me the trouble of having to buy one of those overly expensive 'perfect stubble trimmers' or whatever they're called, and does the job just as well. With four trimming levels available, whichever length you decide upon you're fully catered for.
Unfortunately, the razor itself don't have a particuarly high level of durability. Firstly, the batteries will need replacing quite often as the trimming function is fairly energy intensive. The blades too, as with all razors really, dull too quickly and have to be replaced which can be rather pricey.
However, these problems are with battery powered manual razors in general and not this product specifically, so you should not let them influence your purchasing decision too much since the Wilkinson Sword Quattro Precision is a quality shaving, trimming and general grooming implement.
I have been married to my husband for nearly ten years now and whilst I may not be over the hill, or even past the halfway mark, my husband, until recently looked as if no time had passed, I'm not bitter!
The reason for this is the fact that he has such a baby face that is only made more apparent by the lack of facial hair, also the fact he has baby blond hair helps!
Just recently though he developed some sore's on his top lip that were really making him miserable, from what I can gather they weren't too sore but more, in his eyes anyway, unsightly. Due to this reason he promptly decided the only route was to grow a goatee, ok i wasn't sure before he grew it but, please excuse the pun, it grew on me.
Unfortunately he bagan to find it a bit of a chore keeping it tidy with just the bog standard razor that he would normally use, hence the review I will now write.
After seeing this product advertised on the television, I knew it was just the thing so promptly went and bought it.
The product I will now review is "Wilkinson sword Quattro, titanium precision".
The main reason this was purchased for is the dual action of the razor, alongside the actual blades there is a small trimmer at the opposing side , specifically for trimming and shaping goatee's and beards, but I will get to that later.
The razor comes in a stylish black and silver box, with all the relevant information on it, such as the name, the brand and the all important and differing feature of the trimmer.
There is a clear plastic panel on the left hand side with the razor being displayed, I do like this as you sometimes can't get a real feel for the product from a picture alone.
On the back of the box there is a list of the three blades on this razor numbered 1 - 3.
Blade 1 is the four blade titanium razor, the titanium I can only assume is harder wearing and less susceptible to rust, this feature is for the general job of the shaving with this product boasting a closer and smoother shave. Lets be honest girls, if you are anything like me, razor rash on your legs is bad enough, it must be horrendous if it is on your face.
My husband does have sensitive skin also, and when he has a wet shave it can sometimes cause irritation, this has yet to do so. There is also a strip of moisturising solution situated just above the blades, this should help calm the skin seconds after it has been shaved.
Blade 2 is the single precision blade situated at the back of the razor head, this is ideal if, like my husband you like having "side's" shaped to perfection. (For anyone who has no clue of hat I speak, don't fret, until I married him indoors neither did I! The side's are the start of the beard that grows from just under your ears, when I first met him they were the in thing and he treasured his highly!).
Blade 3 is not so much a blade but a trimming device. The only way I can explain it is a shrunk down version of the hair clippers that most mothers of son's own, I have to trim my son's hair myself, if I took him to a hair salon he is likely to kick off so this is the easier option!
The trimming blade on this is a small semi circle piece of metal with teeth on one end, when the on button is activated the trimmer moves from left to right and back again at break neck speeds, hence the cutting action. This trimmer, like the hair ones, even comes with it's own beard guard, this can be set at different levels, depending on how short you intend to crop and tidy your growth, and yes I was referring to the face fur and not my son! LOL.
Please note though, set it at the highest level first then go shorter, if you wish gradually, nothing worse than cultivating your beard to have it accidentally shorn off at the first hurdle!
Upon removing the razor from the packaging you will of course notice all the afore mentioned items I have listed.
As this is battery operated the razor splits in two to reveal the battery chamber, this will only need I AA battery, which is included in the pack, the fact that they have provided an Energiser battery proves the companies commitment to bringing the consumer a quality product.
The on/off button is situated dead centre of the razor, this will get in the way I hear you shout, no thos clever people have thought this one through. The button is flush with handle, so you have to push it into the handle, not far you see, but far enough that the button won't accidentally get switched off whilst you are performing your amazing underhand over shoulder moustache trimming trick!
Once the battery has been installed and you have had a quick practise, you are good to go. The razor itself is shaped into an almost banana shape, that fits and contours your hands perfectly, well it fits his hands not mine, I have freakishly small hands!
The other thing to note is the razor is considered and should be used as a wet razor, either at the sink or as the packaging suggests in the shower....oooh those clever marketing people already know that the second he is out of the house I am shaving my legs with it!
The price is again, perfect. At present these are available from Asda or £9.98, which I think is a great price considering a pack of my disposable razors cost £5.00 a pack.
The downside, ok come on there had to be one at least, the replacement blades.
The blades are the most expensive thing out of the whole package, my husband can usually make a blade of this quality last at least five wet shaves, and as the razor comes with one mounted on the handle and a spare that buys me some time.
For a pack of 4 blades compatible with this razor you are looking around the £11.00 mark. You can tell they are going to be expensive, as due to the fact they are small boxes and must be reasonably easy for shop lifters to steal, they all now have a security tag on them and are in little plastic cases at Asda.
Would I recommend this product, yes!
This is a quality piece of grooming equipment, my husband would be lost without it now and in fairness his goatee is always groomed to perfection, and as he no longer complains of sore skin that helps with my earache...see, a win/win situation!
Also the fact that this product is made by Wilkinson sword only betters the product, this company has been producing quality razors for the last 100 years and state in there website that they endeavour to produce the super sharpest blades for the optimum result.

This razor is probably one of the best I have ever used.
On one side you can find a normal 4 blades razor which is just great for a smooth clean shave. There will be no stubbles and no irritation left after using the razor (at least from my own experience whereas other razors were horrible to use) on the back of the 4 blades razor is a single blade for trimming and precise shaving which I think is very handy. The razor heads can be exchanged when they reach its end of the life cycle. The razor heads are quite expensive but this is normal. Besides you will not have to buy any special razor heads - just the normal Wilkinson Sword Quattro.
On the other side of this little device one can find an electric razor which is just awesome for grooming. One can choose between three different length levels so it will meet everyone's needs. The razor is very efficient and the provided batteries do last for 3 months as promised. However when you buy new ones you should either buy from the same brand or some better quality batteries otherwise they only last for one use. The information on the packaging advises to apply some oil every now and then to ensure that the electric razor works smooth and efficient. A single drop of cooking oil is sufficient and will do the job.
The device is waterproof so whether you use the normal or electronic razor you don't need to worry about the device getting wet.
The price of the razor makes it even more a must have for every man. This is by far my favourite and best razor I had so far. I strongly recommend it.
