I’ve had my Wilkinson Quattro razor for a few years now, and initially the reason I went for Wilkinson sword was when they started to ‘put the blades behind bars’ ie the little wires which run vertically across the face of the blades, meaning that whilst I’ve proved its not impossible, it’s certainly more difficult to cause a cut.
The wires are extremely thin so they don’t affect the shave in any way, and the blades do give a wonderfully close shave when new. As the name suggests, the Quattro blades are four blades in parallel within a unit, and underneath the blades there is a strip of aloe vera and vitamin E which runs across the skin before the blades ‘hit’. This gives added sensitivity to the shave and creates a real softenss as you draw the razor across your legs. Above the blades there is a thin flexible rubbery type material which is very subtle but just enough to offer that bit of control of the razor on the legs. The aloe vera strip is coloured and when the colour is gone, I usually take that as a sign to replace the blade although in truth I probably don’t change the blade often enough. I will probably make one blade last around a month.
The blades are packed and sold in a plastic tray where they are secure, and it is easy to clip the razor itself onto the blade and then the blade lifts effortlessly out of the tray and ready to use. The blades currently cost £6.99 and are sold in 3's not the 4's as shown in the dooyoo image, which is reasonable value on a par with other good quality razor blades.
As I alluded to at the start, my use of these blades hasn’t been entirely without nicking myself, as the blades are incredibly sharp when new, but the cuts haven’t been serious and are few and far between.
There is nothing worse than stubbly legs, so I have always invested in a good quality razor to keep my legs looking good and feeling smooth and my razor of choice is a Wilkinson Quattro razor.
I am ashamed to say that my original purchase was not based on anything other than thinking how pretty the hot pink colouring of the razor was. I didn't compare it with any other razor, I didn't even look at the price - I just saw 'pink', and that was it, the razor was in the trolley. Fortunately, I have never regretted my purchase. I purchased this razor a good 3-4 years ago, in fact it was so long ago, I have no idea where I originally purchased it from. The razor has a metal handle with hot pink rubber style top for easy grip. The 4 blades give a very close, smooth shave and the blades have a large conditioning strip. The head is flexible so it moves with the contours of your body. This helps to give a better, closer shave and also helps to prevent nicks and cuts.
I can honestly say that in all the years I have owned this razor, I have never once received a cut from it, even on the knees and back of the ankles which are places where you would generally get a nick from a razor. I use this razor on my legs and underarms and the shave it gives is fantastic. My legs look immaculately hair free and they feel so smooth and soft after use. The conditioning strip works well too as my legs don't feel dry or irritated after using this razor.
As I purchased mine so long ago, I have researched the current price to give readers an accurate, up-to-date price and although judging by what I have found on the internet, the style of the razor has changed slightly, it seems to retail at around £8.00, which I believe to be about average for a good quality razor.
Although I still have my original razor, obviously the blades needs changing on a regular basis, and a pack of 3 blades costs me around £6.00, which is quite expensive for 3 blades, but I find they last well and do a good job, so I am more than happy to pay this for the blades.
At some point I will update my razor to a newer version, but for now I really don't see the point as this one is still perfectly intact, which shows its quality and it still gives me a really good, close shave so my legs look and feel smooth and soft and so this razor comes with a big thumbs up from me.
A while ago I bought myself the Quattro with Bikini razor and these are the blades that came with it. I decided to give it a go after their clever TV ad caught my eye and I fund the razor on offer. Since buying it I have not even considered using anything else.
I don't know if it the 4 blades or the Aloe & duo-vitamine complex but it does a fantastic job. I get a really close shave and my legs and under arms always feel incredibly smooth after use. The new blades are very easily to replace. Simply unclip the old one and line up and clip in the new one.
They sell for about £5 for 3 blades but can be found on offer with a little bit of research and patience.
The packaging is attractive too which, while not making any difference to the high quality of the product, do make it easy to find in among all the other choices.
I would definitely recommend this product as it does the job very well.
~ WHY DID I BUY THIS PRODUCT ~
I currently have a Gillette Venus Embrace razor, how-ever for a pack of 3 replacement blades it costs me over £8.00 to buy them. I know Wilkinson Sword are a well-known brand and I have seen this product advertise before, so I decided to purchase it myself and see how good the razor actually was and whether it lived up to its claims of smoother softer skin, with a very close shave.
~ QUATTRO FOR WOMAN ~
Quattro for woman are razors that have been designed by Wilkinson Sword and are especially for woman. The razor is pink and silver and has Wilkinson sword on the handle of the razor. The pink on the razor is made from a rubber like material giving you a better grip when shaving your legs. The underneath of the razor handle is textured slightly which also ensures a good grip. Near the end of the razor before the blade is a round pink button, if you push this, it releases the current blade and you can then replace it with a new blade. The razor has 4 blades and has conditioning strips enriched with Acai Berry and Jojoba extracts, the conditioning strip is a light purple colour and is located on the top of the razor, above the 4 blades. As the razor has 4 blades this ensures a close shave for longer lasting smoothness.
~ PRICE/AVALIBAILITY ~
I purchased this from my local Boots store for £6.49. The replacement blades for the razor come in packs of 3's for £6.49 or packs of 6's for £11.49. You can also buy the disposable razors which come in packs of three for £5.79.
~ PACKAGING ~
The razor comes in a strong plastic box, which I found hanging from a peg in my local boots store. The packaging is clear and pink in colour with blue water like effect/colour on the bottom. You can clearly see the razor inside the packaging and it states that it comes with one blade which is already fitted into the razor itself. It also states on the front that it has a conditioning strip. On the back there is some information about Wilkinson Sword and it also gives you some more information about the conditioning strip and what they contain. The packaging is very strong and I had to use scissors to cut open the packaging. The plastic can become quite sharp once it's been cut, so be careful not to cut yourself.
~ USING THE RAZOR ~
I was surprised at how weighty the razor was compared to my previous razor; how-ever this razor seemed a lot stronger and better made than my previous one. On the razor blades is a clear plastic cover that slides off towards the left. This is put on to protect the blades. The rubber bits on the handle were soft which made the razor easy to hold. I got into the shower and ensured my legs were wet. As the razor has conditioning strips there is no need to use shaving gel/foam with this product. I slowly glided the razor up my leg and as I did this, the razor felt smooth against my skin. The conditioning strips soaped up a little and left a slight reside on my legs. I continued using the razor until both legs had been done. Although the razor was weightier than my previous one this wasn't really a problem as I could get a good grip on the handle of the razor. I have sensitive skin and it was nice that the razor didn't cause any irritation to my skin at all.
~ RESULTS ~
After washing my legs off I felt them and they felt incredibly smooth and really soft. I was very impressed at how close the shave was from the razor. I looked at my legs to ensure there weren't any stray hairs that the razor had missed and there wasn't. The hairs at the top of my legs are very fine and I find that my epilator doesn't pick these up. This razor did a perfect job of shaving off the hairs to leave my skin feeling smoother and soft. I applied moisturiser to my legs as always after showering and this made my legs feel silky smooth and soft. The plastic cover which I took off the razor, slid back on easily with minimum effort.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
Although this razor may have seemed a little pricey to buy I don't think it was too badly priced at all. The blades are over £1.00 cheaper than my other previous refill blades and I feel that the overall quality of the razor is much better and stronger. Although I'm not a fan of the colour pink, it's more of a deep pink colour and looks good. When you need to change the blades the old one pop's off easily using the pink button near the end of the razor and a new one just clips in very easily. The razor gave fantastic results, getting rid of all my hairs on my legs, even the really fine ones. My skin was left feeling so smooth and soft. I will be sticking with this razor for now. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to others.

The other week I almost bought one of the new varieties of Venus razor on offer for £6 in Morrisons, but then this Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women razor which was just £3.49, so I picked this up instead. The usual price is around £6.49-£6.99 depending on where you buy it so I guess it must have been on a half price offer when I bought it, though it wasn't displayed as such.
It comes in a plastic pack which I thought was going to take ages to get into like they usually do, but actually it has a perforated panel on the back which pulls off so it's actually really easy. Inside the pack comes the razor and blade, and a little holder for it. The holder is just a small piece of plastic with an indent for the razor to hang on, and a suction cup on the back to stick it to the wall. I find the suction cup always comes off after a while so I don't use the holder or it ends up waking me up when it comes unstuck and the razor falls into the bath in the middle of the night.
The razor is pink and silver with a rubber easy-grip handle and it feels very comfortable to hold. The heads are easy to clip onto the end of the handle and they come off easily by pressing a button near the top of the handle. The heads have 4 blades with a rubber strip underneath and a conditioning strip above. To say it's a 4 blade razor the head is quite small and compact which is great as I've had others that are so big you can't get into some contours of the body with them. The conditioning strip contains acai berry and jojoba extract which are supposed to help keep your skin in great condition.
I find the razor really easy to use, it feels comfortable and the head pivots slightly allowing it to glide easily over the contours of my body. I was expecting a close shave but the first time I used it it actually gave TOO close a shave, as it took off the tops of my hair follicles, meaning I was left with lots of little dots of blood all over my legs, not pretty! However it hasn't caused the same problem on subsequent uses so I just thinks it needs to be blunted a little before using it.
I do find it gives a nice close shave and my legs are left feeling very smooth, but it doesn't leave them smoother for longer which is a claim that's made on the packaging. I find it's quite gentle (except for the first use mishap obviously!) and I don't get any sign of razor rash after using it, which is something I'm very prone to as I do have quite sensitive skin. I've also never once cut myself with this razor, and I'm not careful so I usually do with others.
The blades last well, I've been using my current one for 3 weeks, shaving legs, bikini line and underarms every 2-3 days, and it still gives a great close shave. Overall I think it's great value for money, especially compared to others which are more expensive and less effective. Spare blades cost £6.49 for 3 or £11.49 for 6, which is much better value than a lot of other razor blades.
I'd definitely recommend this as an effective razor which works out as much better value than most, just be careful as it's very sharp on the first use!
I think most of you will agree that the price of shaving these days has shot up! Disposable razors that used to be £3 or less are now closer to £10! The price of Beauty certainly isn't cheap! So I've found myself having to spend a little more time trying out cheaper products to found one with good results and at a good price, that way I can happily continue buying it and save myself some money.
Personally, I've found disposable razors to be the cheapest method for shaving, other razors cost a fortune for their replacement blades which seem to always clog up fast! The biggest problem I've had though when using disposable razors, as that they tend to nick and cut me a lot more and there have been times when my legs have been cut to bit and pouring with blood. Not nice at all, in fact I almost gave up all hope with disposable razors until I came across the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for women.
Slightly more expensive than other disposable razors, but worth the bit extra money for the difference on results. The Quattro razors don't look cheap at all, you almost wouldn't think they are disposbale. They glide over your skin nicely with a little bit of a rubber head on them which minimises cuts and nicks. The razors work well with any type of shaving cream or gel and then remove all hairs, even the smaller ones from my body. I do still get the occasional small nick, but I think that's to be expected with any razor.
I've also found that these razors are suitable to shave pretty much any part of the body, even the hard to reach places! I get quite a few shaves out of these razors before I have to dispose of them. They are definetely the best disposable razors I've tried and do just as good a job as the more expensive brand razors.
They are available in most Supermarkets for around £5 and you usually get 3 in a pack.
For: High performance shaving with soothing conditioning strips
The razor comes packaged in a plastic case, the kind that is really hard to get into and you have to cut with scissors. I don't get why they have to make them so difficult to open, but it seems to be the case with most razors, so not fair to judge it on that! In the pack you get the razor and 1 blade.
The razor is, like most razors designed for women, predominantly bright pink in colour. It's made of a silver metal with pink rubber where you need the grip. The blade simply clips into the top of the handle, and there is a button to press to release it when you need to change blades. All very simple and fuss-free.
There are four blades, designed to give a closer shave, and above the blades is a 'conditioning strip' which is supposed to improve comfort and glide. The head pivots to more easily follow the contours of your body making it quicker and easier to shave.
I found the razor worked very well overall, giving a good close shave with minimum effort. The design works well from an ergonomic perspective - the rubber grips mean it doesn't slide easily out of your hand, and the pivoting head does indeed make it easier to shave awkward areas such as around the knees and ankles.
I'm not sure that the conditioning strip has any noticeable effect, but when you use a shaving gel this makes the razor glide effortlessly over the skin anyway, so perhaps this would be more noticeable if you used it without gel or foam, something I'm not prepared to put my sensitive skin through! I do still find I cut myself easily around the knees if I'm in a bit of a rush, so I definitely wouldn't say it prevents nicks and cuts.
The blades last surprisingly well - I've been using the blade that came with mine for 4 weeks now, shaving my legs at least every 5 days, and it still seems to work just as well as when I first started using it (I do only have very fine hair though, so it may not last as long when used on thicker, courser hair). So even though the blades do seem quite expensive at £5.29 for a pack of 3, it does work out at pretty decent value.
All in all this is a very good razor, I just wish it wasn't pink!
Thumbs up from me.
I am a tightwad when it comes to de-fuzzing and usually I buy the cheapo 23p for five from Wilkos type deal for my legs. The downside is, earlier this summer for example, I was walking along, thinking I looked really hot in my shorts until I noticed my legs were covered in thick red stripes. Those cheap razors can be a bit rough on the old pins! To my delight, I recently received a free 'Quattro for Women' in the post as a consolation prize in an online competition I had entered. I was really pleased when I tried it out.
The 'Quattro for Women' is made of solid metal, with bright fuschia pink rubberised gripping, so it is nice and chunky to hold and it looks good too. It has a pivotal head so it can glide over your curves, and a wire mesh covering the blades to stop you from cutting yourself. The head contains four thin blades to ensure that not a single hair is missed, together with two conditioning strips containing Aloe Vera and Vitamin B, to ensure a silky smooth result.
The results are really, really good. My skin was completely bald in one sweep, and it was such a smooth feeling that I had to check that I had got the head on the right way round because it didn't even feel as though it was catching any hairs. Fantastic!
They are priced at £4.89 each, and the replacement blade cartridges are about the same price.
OK, the first thing I would like to do is clarify just what I am reviewing, as there is a Wilkinson Sword Quattro for women razor which you have to buy blades for, and then there are the Quattro for Women disposables, and those are the ones that I will be writing about.
When it comes to razors, my absolute favourite is the Gilette Venus Vibrance, but it's quite expensive as are the replacement blades, and so a couple of months ago I started buying these to use as an 'everyday' razor, and save the Venus Vibrance for when I'm showing my legs off and want them to be incredibly smooth - not very often in this freezing cold weather!
The razors come in a pack of four and the pack is really easy to open - just remove the cardboard at the back. I mention this because often when they come in those plastic packs you have to cut open with scissors I end up slicing through my hand!
The razors themselves are actually quite nice looking for disposables. They have pink handles which are shaped for comfort and the plastic surrounding the blade is white. The handles have a rubbery sort of feel and also lots of little raised bumps, so the grip is brilliant. I don't think there's much chance of these slipping from wet hands.
As the name Quattro would suggest, each razor has four blades, and they also have a blade guard - those little thin strips of wire, which make it look like the razor is wearing a brace (in my crazy mind anyway!). There is also one of those 'moisturising strips' that razors seem to have these days. This one is enriched with vitamin E and Aloe, both of which have soothing properties.
The razor has a flexible neck (if you call it a neck - I mean the bit between the blade and handle), so it contours to your skin, which makes it really comfortable to use. The combination of the blade guard as well as the non-slip handle means I've never experienced any nicks or cuts in the time I have been using these razors.
I can never tell whether the moisturising strips on these things are having any effect or not, but I've never had any dryness or scratchiness, nor do I get 'razor burn' when using this, so I guess perhaps it is doing more than I think.
As for actually shaving, you get a really close shave with these razors and they leave my legs feeling really smooth.
A pack of four razors cost £4.88 from Boots but are currently on offer for £3.25. That's perhaps a little expensive for disposables, but I think these have got to be the best quality disposable razors that I have ever used, and would thoroughly recommend them.
I don't tend to change my razors very often, and after many disastrous years of using disposable razors, I bought myself a reusable razor and never looked back.
Wilkinson Sword is a well known trusted brand and has been trading for years. I opted for a razor by them for this reason, and also my other half always used them as well.
The Quattro for women is a nice girly pink colour, and it's teemed well with splashed of mint green. As the model suggests, the razor has four blades attached to it. These are well protected behind thin barriers to stop you cutting yourself to shreds.
The razor itself is fairly lightweight, and contoured to fit your hands well without feeling awkward. It curves in all the right places, much like women.
I have found in the years I have used this razor, it has held its price well, and still costs around £5, with replaceable blades costing about the same price for three.
With the original razor you will usually receive two blades. Sometimes if you can find this on offer, it can be cheaper to buy a new razor each time instead of a pack of blades.
Using the razor, I would always suggest using some form of shaving foam or shower gel, as without you will get a very dry shave, and this razor doesn't have a moisturising agent attached to it.
I find that each blade will last around a month with average usage being based on every other day.
Once my legs are soaped up, I find the razor glides well against my skin, and do an admirable job or removing hairs. You will find that not all hair will be removed on first movement, and you may need to re apply a couple of times to ensure a smooth leg emerges at the end. This will also be affected by the sharpness of the blade as well, but I still do this with a brand new blade.
After care for this razor isn't a lot. I have always found my skin to be well cared for after using this razor. It doesn't dry my legs out too much as long as I don't dry shave. On the odd occasion that I am in a rush, I have found that I will be left with a few ingrown hairs and dry skin patches after a day or so.
My legs will stay smooth for a good 48 hours after shaving, so I am confident the blades do a good job at giving a close shave.
Replacing the blades is done easily. There is a small catch on each side of the razor's head and when you pull these the blade can be removed. A new blade is simply clicked onto the head of the razor, and as long as you have it facing the correct way, it will fit on easily.
I hugely recommend this razor to any woman thinking of getting a reusable razor. It has done me proud in the past and touch wood I have come out unscathed with no nicks or scratches from using it.
This razor is designed for females and is made by Wilkinson Sword.
It is a very nice looking razor and its bright pink and very girly.
The razor itself is very easy to use. The large chunky handle makes it very easy to hold and the grips on the handle ensure that you dont lose it whilst using in the shower.
The razor heads are disposable and can be changed for new heads when needed. They are very easy to change you just push a release button on the back of the razor and it pops off. To replace you just slide into the new head until it clicks.
The razor has four ultra thin blades. For safety they are wire wrapped. The razor also has a strip of aloe and vitamins E and B5. The razor does a very nice job. It glides over your skin and provides a very close shave. It also cuts the very fine hairs that are often difficult to shave. It was very easy to manouvre the razors around the difficult areas such as around knees and so on. The strip also left a nice moisturising feel. After using the razor my legs felt very smooth and soft.
It is definately spending the money on a good razor, this one cost £4.99.
The refill blades cost £4.99 for a pack of three refills.
They are available from supermarkets and chemists.
I used to use disposable 2 blade razors until earlier this year when it started getting hot and i got fed up with shaving every couple of days! I'd borrowed my partners multi-blade razor a few times but hadn't been impressed enough to warrant spending over £1 on a razor!
My friend recommended one of these and so i went out and I bought and i'm not kicking myself for not doing it sooner.
The shave is smooth, close and effortless! I can't believe how much of a difference it makes.
The blades are a bit more than i wanted to pay but the razor really is that good that i don't think i'll ever go back to disposables!
I can wear what i want in the sun now without worrying about any unsightly stubble or feeling a bit lacking in confidence in case anyone looks too close!
Quattro, where have you been all my life?!
Oh la la - warm weather equals legs on public display! So I requested a free Wilkinson Sword Quattro for women razor from their website which obviously took ages to arrive as by the time it was pushed through my letterbox and landed on my doorstep I had forgotten all about requesting it!
Was it worth waiting for? Actually I think it might have been.
It certainly looks more attractive in my bathroom than the usual cheapo razors I use. Its big and chunky and a lovely pink colour! It looks expensive and ready for the job rather than a cheap bit of blue plastic!
The packaging says its "The first high performance razor designed for women which gives you longer lasting silky smooth skin" I am not sure how truth this is as surely how long your legs stay smooth for depends on how quick your hair grows!!
It has a textured rubber handle to enhance grip in the shower . There is not much chance of it slipping through your hand as its so big.
The large conditioing strip seemed to be working as it did glide across my skin nicely without dragging or scratching at the skin like my usual razors do slightly.
The colour and style did make me feel a bit more glamourous and girly than usual.
As a razor I would recoomend it although as mine was sent to me as a sample and I am not sure how much they cost I can't say if it was value for money of not! However it definately gets my thumbs up and I can go out in the sunshine today with smooth hair free legs!
Always wanting to get as much as I can for free I received an email offering a free Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women which I had onl been looking at a few days before in Boots.
I quickly went to the website and applied for the free razor and then I waited and waited and waited and finally the razor landed on my door step. I had previously used the Wilkinson Sword Intuition (also previously reviewed) but found the prices for replacement blades ridiculous compared with the price to buy a brand new razor again, so here I was making do with mens free sample razors that actually worked a lot better!
As mine was a free sample it simply came in a cardboard outer sleeve within a plain white envelope so I didn't have any nasty struggles with that awful plastic that is impossible to open, however I had been looking at these in Boots and saw that
I instantly loved this razor as it was 2 shades of bright pink which meant it was a hit with me nice and feminine but the first thing that I noticed was the weight of the razor this was really heavy compared to all the other razors out there this must be due to the metal handle.
The Quattro razor is the first women's razor to have 4 blades which boasts unbeatable performance.
*~*Using the Razor*~*
I tend to use soap to shave my legs and ensure that I work up a good lather before the blade hits the skin. The Quattro was an experience in shaving that I had never had before, I didn't even feel the blade on my skin I just felt the razor glide up my leg removing the hair as it went and I didn't even miss any awkward places as the razor was not chunky it was easy to use and manouevre around the back of the ankle.
The razor as most do had a strip that claimed to condition skin and this also contained aloe and vitamin e to soothe after shaving and I have to say that my legs feel wonderful they are hair free and smooth which are my main requirements in hair removal and am glad this has arrived in time for the summer.
The razor hand swivels so it moves with you as you shave your legs and underarms and what's more if you are clumsy like me the safety wires protect against any accidental nicks or cuts.
The razor is a lot easier and quicker to use than any others I have come across. The pivoting head follows the contours of your body to give a smooth shave.
aloe and vitamin E is extremely good for your skin as shaving can dry your skin out especially in this warm weather we are currently experiencing.
****How long do the blades last?****
I shave every other day or when I feel the need and the blades seem to last forever, ideally you should change the blades when they appear blunt as using a blunt razor can cause irritation to the skin and lead to rashes which could be painful.
The Quattro for women is made by Wilkinson Sword who have been in steel crafting for over 100 years. Their British Heritage and expertise in blade technology has allowed them to understand the diverse needs of our customers which is why they provide a wide range of shaving solutions to suit almost everybody.
I cannot comment on the price of the razors as mine was free but they can be bought in supermarket, chemists and many other places so shop around for the best offer, blades vary from £3.95 - £5.49 depending on the shop you decide to purchase from.
