firstly the bottle and definition on dooyoo are wrong...m7 is not kourous. The 7th fragrance for men by Yves Saint Laurent is as striking as the controversial advertising campaign. Not content with parading a naked Sophie Dahl for Opium, YSL pushed the boundaries with an artistic black and white photograph of a lazing and fully naked man for M7. The cologne itself, is as shockingly bold. M7 is, in my opinion, the most daring and unique creation in men's scents for over a decade. As CK brings out another freshly smelling brand 'Truth', YSL has turned the game on its head and come out with what has been called 'intensely masculine and totally elegant'. For me, it jumps to the top of the heap of 'Oriental' fragrances for men. So what does it smell like? The core of this scent is the extremely rare and valuable Agarwood of the Indian Sub Continent. This is a wood so precious, that it is said in its purest form it can attain a value that exceeds that of gold in the east. To those who are familiar with the scent of eastern incenses, agarwood is the jewel in the crown, so to speak, used for the most extravagant of buddhist/hindu festivities. This scent, the agarwood aura, is the dominant force behind M7. To the unfamiliar nose, agarwood is a very strong and striking scent, and it is for this reason that M7 has received such shocking reviews. But backing up this piledriving ingredient, are the more familiar scents of amber, musk and vetiver. These help 'balance' the scent so that it is easier on the western nose. There is only one way of describing the feeling you get when wearing this beauty. Its like being transported to a temple, in a sweltering heat, surrounded by monsoon drenched grass - with the distinct scent of an oriental ritual being performed as an offering to the gods. M7 has a log going for it in the aromatherapy league too. Agarwood is highly regarded in eastern herb alism, with ayurvedic references indicating its role as a primary healer and spiritual centering capability. But as usual, the key role for a scent, is to invoke pleasant reactions in those within our vacinity. Its here that M7 has a bit of a challenge ahead of it. Being such an intensely bold fragrance, it is bound to attract remarks that span the entire spectrum of emotions from indifference, dislike, to the ideal of intense allure. Theres no discounting this baby, its definitely going to bring you some interesting looks, and knowing you are sporting a commodity that has a value that can exceed gold itself, is nothing short of remarkable. As a recommendation, I would suggest you try it at the counter, walk away and let it do its business for the rest of the day. If you feel its helped you relax and attract the remarks you had hoped for, buy it. But whatever you do, don't be put off by the initial striking notes - as with most things manly, this is something that works magic on the most subltle levels. M7 - the new masculine archetype.
