Shoe Zone Grey Soft Faux Fur Bow Womens Mule Slippers
by sparkleychel
== Shoe Zone Faux Fur Ladies Mule Slippers ==
I bought these slippers towards the end of last year , as a cheap pair to last till Christmas as I always receive new slippers from Father Christmas. I paid about £5 for them, and received free delivery from the website . 2-3 days after ordering they arrived and I was pleasantly ... surprised at how nice they looked for the price , I was expecting cheap and maybe even a bit tacky looking but were just as nice as a more expensive department store slipper.
== The Slippers ==
I ordered the slippers in a Small which is suitable for a adult size 3-4 , I am a size 3 and there was certainly plenty of room without being too big and would fit a size 4 comfortably .
The slippers are a slip on mule style with a slight built up back , but not enough to secure your feet in them.
The outside is made of a lovely grey faux fur which is very soft and plush. there is a zigzag effect in the pattern along the front of the foot and a grey ribbon bow with jewel middle .
The inside are a cosy fleecy fur and definitely keep your feet warm and snug.
The soles are a thick padded covered foam , and have a plastic like bottom which is quite strong and fine for around the house , and a quick nip to the car in dry weather, but not strong enough for outdoor use all the time.
== The Smell Test ==
I do suffer from smelly feet in cheap shoes , and this is a problem with wearing slippers as they don't really allow your feet to breath . They do tend to soak up any smells and after a while they basically stink . These were pretty good , certainly not the worst , okay they weren't as good as a pair of Ugg slippers of course not , but for the price I was pleased.
== My Thoughts ==
I wear slippers all the time around the house as we have wooden floors , I usually get about 3-4 months out of pair before they need replacing , and these held up well . They were comfy and a good fit , and weren't too padded on the sole that if felt like you were moon-walking until you squashed them down.
The colour is a nice grey , easy on the eye and suitable for all ages, and the little decoration of bow and jewel are okay too , I had though when I ordered them that I would take that off if it was too gaudy but I didn't feel it was necessary once i saw it in real life.
For £5 you can't go wrong and with free delivery as well , makes them a bargain in my eyes. Read the complete review |

Converse All Star Trainers
by -becky-
Converse have been a very popular trainer brand (or sneaker, whatever you want to call them) for a long while now, and I only joined the hype a last January with my first and only pair of white Converse low tops. You can also get the hi top version like the picture shown above, but I've never been keen on those and thought the low tops ... in white would go with so many more outfits.
The trainers in all colours are very versatile to wear, you can get away with wearing them with literally everything: jeans/leggings/shorts/skirts and they look great. I even know somebody that wore a pair of Converse with her prom dress... maybe that was a little extreme! They come in a very wide choice of colours and the range is always expanding with new designs and styles to fit in with current trends. Some of them have several 'tongues' (the flap on the front) which is quite good if you're looking for something different as no other trainer brands make things like that. You also have the opportunity to design your own on the Converse website at an extra cost, so you can make them unique to you and even add writing to them. I've considered doing this but haven't done yet so I can't comment on the service.
The price of Converse often varies depending on where you buy them from, as I bought mine over a year ago I think they were around £35 from Office whereas now they can cost you around £40 upwards. They are widely available from shops such as Office, Shuch (both online and in store) or the Converse website. Sometimes they can be found on offer, and of course if you have student discount that's a bonus. The Converse brand do such a wide variety of trainers for you to pick from and they're unisex, you really won't be disappointed, there is something for everyone.
My Converse are basically white canvas shoes with a rubber toe cap section and rubber (I think) soles, with the red and blue stripe around the bottom. The usual 'All Star' branding is found at the back of the shoe on the sole and also on the tongue of the shoe. I find that they look better when the laces are tied underneath the tongue of the shoe rather than over, which can be a bit fussy and time consuming to put on when you're going out.
I know you're probably thinking "How can you justify spending that much on canvas shoes? You can get them for a fiver in Primark" but the truth is, the cheaper versions really don't compare. Converse are much better quality and better made, this proved by the fact I've had mine nearly a year and a half and they're still going strong. So, despite the initial outlay and that you could probably get a cheaper pair for a fraction of the price, Converse last so much longer and are therefore worth the extra cost. In my opinion anyway!
People are always advised to go for a half size smaller in Converse than what they usually are, but as a half size smaller than mine weren't available I opted for my usual size and they fitted perfectly - so it's not always the case. At first I did get a couple of blisters from wearing them, but like a lot of new shoes they just needed wearing in. After that they were fine and have been super comfortable ever since - so comfortable I can often complete the six mile walk with the dog without my feet hurting. The soles don't tend to wear down too much and are quite durable.
I'm not sure if it's just me but I have found that my feet seem to get cold really easily in these? Compared to other trainers and shoes, if I wear them out in harsher weather, my feet definitely feel like they're going to freeze off the most in my Converse. They're probably better to be worn for the summer weather.
Overall I've been really impressed with my Converse since I've bought them, I really should get on with expanding my collection! I'd recommend them to anyone. Read the complete review |

Platino Tamia
by Candyperfumegirl
A few months ago I decided both of my daughters could do with some new school shoes so I took them to our local Windsors World of Shoes as it is only a short distance from our home and I find they have an extensive range of well priced footwear, particularly for children. I also planned on measuring both of my children's feet to ensure I ... was buying them the correct size and I find Windsors are ideal for that.
I pretty much allow my children to choose their own shoes as long as they conform to the school uniform policy, the shoes must be black and with only a small heel allowed. After trying on a few different pairs of shoes my nine year old daughter decided on these "Tamia" shoes which are from the Platino brand. Windsors sell a wide variety of Platino shoes and they have some lovely designs to choose from. I forget how much I paid for them now but a quick look on the Windsors websites shows they are currently on sale at £10.00, with their usual price being £12.00. They can also be bought on Amazon for £10.00 (3.49 delivery) but the orders are actually for-filled by Windsor, and there are fewer sizes available.
These Platino Tamia shoes are black in colour and can be found under the school shoes section in store and on line. They are made from PU synthetic leather and have a matte finish. On the front of each shoe is a black bow with buckle detail, this is quite cute and adds a little interest to them. The soles are of a decent thickness and have a very small wedge style heel. The shoes have long return bar velcro fastening straps.
Whilst in Windsors I had my daughters feet measured so I knew exactly which size shoe she was. As she was a size 13 we obviously picked this size first when trying on the shoes, I must say that the shoes fit well and I felt they were true to the size they were labelled as.
My daughter wore these shoes to school pretty much everyday and never complained that they felt uncomfortable in anyway. She found them easy to slip on and off and the Velcro fastening (initially) worked well at keeping my daughters feet securely inside.
I found the PU material scuffed and scratched rather easily and quickly began looking rather dull and scruffy, I did buff them with a few times with shoe polish and this did brighten them up a little. The bow buckle detail however did stayed in place.
The main problem we had with these shoes were with the velcro straps. After wearing the shoes for around two months the stitching on the velcro began coming away a little at one edge, at first it was barely noticeable but within a few days it had come away completely meaning the shoes could not be fastened at all. I would not say that my daughter is particularly rough with her shoes, I simply feel that the straps were just not strong or durable enough for a child's school shoe.
Even at such a low price I would have expected them to last more than a couple of months and it is for this reason that I give these shoes a rather generous three out of five stars. Read the complete review |
