Asos Vixon Flatform Creepers
by zombieflesh
Who would have thought that creeper shoes would ever become fashionable?! They were one of the biggest trends last year and became a craze on the high street with fashionistas desperate to snap up these stylish shoes with their added comfort factor. I remember back in my teenage goth days when I had to hunt high and low for shoes like ... this, and when I eventually got hold of some my mum teased me (in the hilarious way that only close family members can), saying that they looked like "special" shoes. I was super excited when the fashion for creepers caught on and they became more easily available. I've been buying them in different styles as and when I can so that I now have a nice little collection.
I just can't seem to stop myself from placing regular orders with online super-retailer www.ASOS.com. I came across these Vixon Flatform Creepers in the sales where they were reduced from the RRP of £35.00, to £17.50. They are available in women's UK sizes 3 - 8 and come in a good choice of colour options including black, polka dot print, floral print, silver metallic, black and gold studded, leopard print, and gold metallic. I kept it simple and just opted for the plain black version.
Product description: "Creeper shoes by ASOS Collection. Featuring a lace up closure with silver-tone d-rings, suede effect uppers with a stitched panel design, a raised vamp with contrast stitching, an almond shaped toe and a wide sole with a deep tread."
Upper: 100% Polyurethane
Lining: 100% Polyurethane
Sole: 100% Rubber
I must say that I love creepers. A lot. This particular pair have a very standard appearance and being black they are hugely versatile and can be dressed up with smarter outfits, as well as adding a fun and quirky edge to more casual outfits. They fit in really well with my usual everyday "groomed grunge" look and I wear them all the time. The shoes have a thick platform which measures in at 5cm / 2" high. This gives a nice little height boost but because they have a flatform sole they are dead easy to walk in and they are comfortable to wear all day long without the dreaded foot ache and blisters that you might get with wearing heeled shoes. I walk a lot and these shoes stay comfortable even after walking around for a full days sightseeing, and are well suited to general running around during the day when I'm out and about for work, or going shopping and getting chores done.
The shoes feature shiny silver D ring details which are bold and stand out against the black material of the shoe. The laces tie through here to do up and you're able to fasten and adjust them accordingly to get a snug fit, which is essential for anyone that has narrow feet like me, as this keeps them securely in place without any slipping around. The base of the sole is covered in a squiggly patterned tread which looks cute and provides some extra grip. Despite looking quite bulky, the platform feels like it is made of foam and as such is quite lightweight so they're not heavy to walk around in like some of my more sturdy creeper shoes are. The material has a sort of faux suede effect which I have not tested in the rain, but I would feel it's safe to say that you're best off avoiding getting the shoes wet so that the fabric is not damaged.
These Vixon Flatform Creepers by ASOS were a great investment as they are practical shoes that are comfortable to wear and add a stylish touch to even the most simple outfit. I can happily recommend them. Read the complete review |

ASOS Alban Chelsea Ankle Boots
by daisylee3
I'm a massive fan of ASOS - their shoes in particular are amazing value and really on trend.
As most people will know, studs are huge at the minute and I for one have gone a little stud mad! When I saw these on the ASOS website around three months ago I instantly fell in love with them and although I already had heaps of ... studded shoes I decided that they'd be a good investment.
They were definitely an impulse buy and if I'm honest I wish I hadn't gotten them. Don't get me wrong - they're stunning, good quality & look amazing on, but they're not the most versatile of boots, unfortunately. Comfort wise they're incredible and I could easily wear them to walk to and from the shops or to town, but style wise they're very limited because of how eye catching they are.
If you're very grungy or like to stand out from the crowd in everyday life, then these are definitely the boots for you and they will be worth every penny, but I personally find them a little too over the top for everyday wear and instead will only wear them when I'm going somewhere special rather than wearing them to traipse around the shops or go to appointments etc.
The fact that these are ankle boots with a stubby heel rather than heels makes them ever harder to style because I wouldn't dream of wearing these to say a club or a house party, so they're really limited to certain occasions like the cinemas or a casual meal out, so I don't get a lot of wear out of them unfortunately so considering that I paid £35.00 for them, they've not turned out to be the best value for money. As I said before though if you are confident enough to wear these everyday & are going to get a lot of wear out of them then they really will be an absolute bargain buy.
The design of the boots is the basic Chelsea boots design - ankle high boots with elasticated sides. They're black & designed to look like suede but they don't look particularly authentic because the material is quite cheap looking close up, but from a distance they do look pretty expensive. I wouldn't say that the shoes themselves look cheap, just the look of the material when I'm looking at it closely. The boots are covered from top to toe in round studs. They're a nice eye catching tone of gold and they're very shiny. They don't look cheap or plasticy and they are securely stuck on to the boots.
The elasticated sides of the boots are the only part which aren't covered in studs, which I kind of like as it adds a little more detail. The boots have a small block heel which I'd estimate is around an inch and a half high, which is enough to give me a tiny boost of extra height but still very easy to walk in without feeling like Im balancing on stilts, lol. The thick heel feels secure and I barely notice that they're slightly heeled when I'm walking in them as they feel just like normal, flat boots due to how sturdy the heel is.
The boots are true to size and I have them in my usual size five, which are nice and snug but not overly tight. I have wide feet so was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and well fitting they are and they don't make my feet feel squashed. They're also not too tight around my ankles but not too loose either. I've got skinny little sparrow legs and my ankles are always too skinny for Chelsea boots so they flap around and look a bit silly lol but these are just right on me, so I think if you have larger ankles they may be a little tight.
Walking in these is really comfortable and the thick sole and soft insoles makes my feet feel really well supported if that makes sense. As these are made from synthetic material I was a little concerned that they'd make my feet sweaty but they don't at all and although I wouldn't say that they let my feet breathe they're not tight or anything. Styling the boots is pretty simple as long as I know where I'm going to be wearing them. I find the work well with pale skinnies, a maxi skirt or shorts and tights. They can be grunged up or mix & matched with girlier clothes - I had a lot of fun experimenting with them!
Overall, I give these boots four out of five stars. They're comfortable, look great, are easy to style and are pretty cheap. I have knocked one star off because I don't think that the design is versatile enough for everyday wear so I don't get as much wear out of them as I'd like. Read the complete review |

Asos Lulu Ballet Flats
by walsha11
I do love ASOS for shopping and they are my number one destination for dresses but when it comes to shoes I'm a bit scared of buying online. I did find a rather nice pair of beige shoes on ASOS a while ago so when I saw these on the site I thought I'd give them a try.
The great thing about ASOS is that you can have things ... delivered and returned for free without much hassle. These shoes were £12 so it seemed like a win win situation for me so I ordered them almost as soon as I saw them.
They came in a few different colours (nude, green, pink) but I opted for the black because I felt they would be more versatile, especially as I work quite often and these were still appropriate for work. The pumps have a pretty basic ballet flat design with the curved toe and flat base. The sole is rubber which makes it quite flexible which is great for wearing the shoe in but can sometimes result in achey feet which I did find. They do, however, have a slight raised heel so this does prevent them from becoming too uncomfortable.
The fabric is nice and durable, I haven't found any major marks on it other than you'd expect and it is still totally in tact after months of use. It also has a small bow above the toes which looks very cute and gives a little bit of added interest to a fairly simple design. The look of the shoe is sort of a faux leather which makes them looks a little more expensive than they are - always a bonus! This does make the shoes a little stiff meaning they can sometime rub but I find this only happens when I've been wearing them for a full day.
I bought mine is a size 5 because my feet are between a 4 and a 5 and on balance I'd rather have large shoes than tight ones. They do fit my feet very nicely so I would recommend going for a slightly larger size and this limits rubbing and soreness.
Overall, for £12 I can't really complain too much. It's more than I'd pay for primark pumps and less than I'd pay for New Look and I'd say the quality is better than both. Read the complete review |
