Caterpillar Colorado
by Elaineee
My husband gets through work boots at a rate of knots. He's had all makes and models over the years all with a life span of less than 12 months- Caterpillar being the exception these lasted considerably longer. Some cheaper boots have started leaking long within this time but he just puts up with wet feet for a while as with most men he ... hates shopping, and I 'always' get stuff he doesn't like. Anyway the Caterpillar boots aren't cheap so they should last a while!!!
Retail cost averages at about £80+ he didn't pay that we saw them on sale in TK Maxx for half that but that was ages ago. Amazon sell them for less than £80 I've just seen some online similar for £60 ish depending on the size. My son also had the same pair again they were bought on sale, his long outlasted his feet growth spurt- they were still like brand new.
Size wise they start at 6 for men and go all the way up. My husband wears a nine and at the time my sons were a kids size 4 both were true to size.
My husband has actually had a couple of pairs of these particular style boot from Caterpillar one beige and one black pair, both were bought on sale. The beige pair had nubuck uppers which is leather but brushed- more like suede but not suede. The black pair were just leather- both were waterproof and hard wearing. The tongue and side of the boots bear the Caterpillar logo.
The outside of the toe has worn but this hasn't compromised the function of the boots only the appearance. The boots aren't lightweight but seem lighter than some other brands he had- I can verify that having picked them up when tidying up. The tongue and collar is padded making them comfortable, I know my husband ties his laces tight so needs this extra padding. The insides are lined and slightly padded, they have a nice insole shape under the foot arch. The sole is rubber and thick with good grips, my husbands have been melted underneath after standing on hot metal, but the damage is just cosmetic.
I'd better ask the otherhalf the next bit:
These are very comfortable and not as heavy as some boots. They are still comfortable after months and months of wear everyday and are still waterproof. The sole hasn't come away from the upper nor have the grips worn. They don't make your feet sweat too much. The laces do snap and have been replaced several times. The longevity is better than most. Cosmetically they have took a hammering but are still functional.
My son on the other hand didn't really like them, he found them too 'clumsy' and heavy- he's used to light
trainers.

Caterpillar Colorado Boots
by sonic70
I love these boots! I have owned a few pairs of these boots now and always make sure I have them in at least one colour in my boot collection. I have to be very fussy about what I put on my feet as past problems mean that many shoes and boots cause me pain and discomfort. These boots however have always been much loved by my feet. I have ... tried Timberland boots previously and found those to be a little too narrow and not nearly as kind to my feet and I lasted about 10 minutes in them at home before returning them.
The nubuck leather they are made from means that not only do they look fantastic, they feel great too. Each pair I have bought I have been able to wear out immediately with no need to spend time wearing them in the house to break them in. They are comfy enough to be kind to my feet but sturdy enough to stand up to constant wear and walking in the woods. Whilst there are products that can help protect the nubuck, I never seem to get round to using it. If I have managed to get my boots particularly muddy I clean them with hot running water and a toothbrush then leave them by the radiator to dry. My boots do not seem to have suffered because of this although i don't suppose it is the recommended way of cleaning them.
Its good solid sole never seems to wear out and even when the rest of the boot is looking decidedly aged the soles still show little sign or wear. The laces are always good quality and so far I have never replaced a pair.
I usually end up replacing mine about every 4-5 years as they are generally looking very scruffy by then but they are still intact enough to have many more miles in them by that stage. Mine get worn for all sorts of occasions, walking the dog, general days out, work etc and they look and feel great whatever the occasion. I have even been out all day in them when it's been raining and, unless my kids have encouraged me to stomp in all the big puddles, my feet have still been dry when I got home.
They often retail at around £80 but patience and good researching occasionally find a bargain. However, even at £80 they are well worth it and provide good value for money.
I would not be without at least one pair of Cats at home - I currently have three different colours - and would recommend these every time. Read the complete review |

CAT Moody Hiker Boots
by newby2
==CAT Moody Hiker Boots==
I have always loved the CAT boots since my early East Seventeen loving days and have always wanted to own a pair myself without looking too butch. I saw these CAT Moody Boots about a year ago now in one of my catalogues for a little over the £50 price range and seeing how I was in the market for a ... new pair of walking boots I just couldn't resist.
£50 is not a bad price for a named pair of boots such as this. I had been wearing some Karramor snow boots which were fur lined and a little bit too warm when walking on a muggy day but they did give good support and good protection from the elements. These boots come in a choice of two different shades and I opted for the darker ones which are a brown colour as opposed to the proper desert sand colour which I did think would be a nightmare in the mud.
The boots I received were exactly as I had hoped and really stylish as well as practical in my opinion. They seem really heavy duty and as they are sold as work boots it is not surprising they are quite industrial in design. Even now a year on they are still looking in very good nick and I have work them out walking loads. I am glad I opted for the darker shade as I am sure the amount of mud I have trawled through would have now stained the sand coloured ones.
These boots had a very firm toe area which means they keep their shape well and even though I thought the suede type material of the boot would be hard to keep clean, I was wrong and with a damp cloth they do seem to scrub up really well. The laces are strong too and can be pulled really tight without fear of snapping like some other cheap laces I have had before. The height of the boot is just right giving a strong and sturdy support to the ankle so walking on uneven country grounds is easily done in these boots.
There is a slight heel to the sole of these CAT boots which make them look a little bit feminine even thought they are what I would call classic bloke boots. Compared to buying a man's version of these same boots, the women's version seems to be a little more slimline and slightly less chunky which again is a plus in my mind.
The boots seem to go well with a lot of type of trousers and I sometimes wear them with my skinny jeans and hiker socks (especially on a wet and muddy walk) or with boot flare jeans when we are not sure what sort of walk we are going on but hopefully not a too muddy one.
I found the boots really comfortable to wear from the get go and I have never had any blisters at all as the boots have a fantastic lining and comfy area around the ankle. The grips on the sole are big and the rubbery material makes them ideal for slippery surfaces and there is a good grip when walking.
All in all I can't really fault these CAT boots at all. They are lasting really well and I am sure I have plenty more wear left in them to come. They are perfect for walking a lot as they are super comfortable and I personally think they look really good too. The price is good for the quality you get and I think they are deserving of a top score of 5 out of 5 stars and I would certainly recommend them to anyone and everyone after a good pair of walking boots.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
