Next Davina Ballerina Patent Shoes
by katyj10
This is a review of my latest pair of shoes. They are from Next and from the Davina (McCall) collection.
Description
The shoes are black patent ballerina shoes with a tiny virtually flat heel and have a bow detail on the front. The tiny square heel is designed to relieve 25% pressure on the actual heel of your foot so ... they are better for your feet and in theory, more comfortable to wear.
My experience
The fact that these shoes are patent leather means they are a bit stiff to wear and don't really bend much with your foot, but having said that, they don't go slobby either. A size 8 is a EU 42 which fits my foot perfectly (I sometimes go up in to a size nine in this style shoe or boots but didn't need to with these).
Price and sizes
The shoes go from a size 35 and a half up to a 43 which I know is a UK size nine. Price wise they are £40 which may sound a lot for a pair of flats but they are really smart and comfortable flats so worth it in my opinion. The same shoe is available in six finishes, from my shiny black to a glittery black plus black or gold leopard print with the more sensible beige and pale pink in between. I am tempted to buy another pair in a different finish but I like them all so not sure which I'd go for.
In use
I find these are a really universal pair of shoes that can be worn smart for work or help to dress up a pair of jeans on an evening. I struggle to wear heels and usually have to have my flip flops wrestled off me when the weather starts to get cold but I really have a problem with tight straps around my ankles so prefer a slip on style or zip up boot. I am OK for the first couple of hours in these shoes before I start to notice that they are hurting a bit. This is not unusual for me as I have terrible feet problems and find the simplest of shoes can be uncomfortable.
Final word
I have been wearing these shoes for over a month now and have found them a little bit problematic when wearing them for a long amount of time. My feet have marks on them when I take them off so they are not shoes I could walk for miles and miles in them as they are a little bit hard but I have no problem in every day walking around in them. I think the small heel on these shoes improves my walking style a little as you do tend to slob or shuffle a bit in totally flat shoes and it also helps with wear and tear as I have noticed that I wear the sides of completely flat shoes out eventually. I am so pleased that this collection goes up to a size 9 which is not to be taken for granted and can recommend them as a decent pair of shoes but they are a bit hard and stiff due to the patent finish. Next Heart Pumps
by bringingsexyback
THE DESIGN
These are pumps for little girls from Next. They are made of canvas that is bright pink and have large hearts all over them. The pumps fasten up with a thick strap that has got velcro on the end. The soles are thick rubber and are in white, they are raised up on the shoe and that helps protect the fabric of them. ...
COMFORT
These are wide fitting and are very comfortable for my daughter to wear. She has worn them all over the summer for playing in the garden and going to the park, they haven't stretched or gone floppy on her feet. The velcro strip is quite long so you can narrow the shoes effectively to fit different width feet. The insoles are thick and spongy so they are comfortable, she has never complained about her feet aching even though we do a lot of walking as a family.
DURABILITY
I have bought this style of pumps for my daughter before and these have lasted for longer than any of them. She wears them a lot because she had an operation on her foot last year so doesn't like wearing sandals because she has a wide scar and is conscious about it, these have been good summer shoes because they are light but it means they've been worn a lot. The pink looks a bit faded and the hearts are grubby but the shoes are still in perfect condition apart from the velcro which has started to pull away from the strap a bit.
WHAT I THINK
I like these pumps because they look smart but are comfortable for my daughter to wear. She can put them on herself because when the strap is open the shoes open up wide for her to slip her feet into them, they're easy to do up so when she goes on the bouncy castle at the park she can remove her own shoes and put them back on after she gets off.
The velcro is failing now and I think it will fall off the strap completely soon, I don't mind because they are no good for cold or wet weather so I don't think she will be able to wear them for very long now anyway. They have been worth the money for all the wear they've had.
WHAT MY DAUGHTER THINKS
My daughter likes heart designs so she was happy when I bought her these shoes, we haven't got a Next nearby so none of her friends have got the same shoes. She didn't like the rubber around the toe at first and said it made her feet feel heavy but I think that is mainly because they are so different to the style of shoes she usually wears for school and playing.

Next Embellished Mule Sandals
by rji0907
When I purchase a pair of summer sandals, I tend to wear them to death so I always purchase a decent pair to ensure that they don't fall apart after a couple of wears and this year I have had a pair of Next Embellished Mule Sandals. At £28.00 a pair, these weren't cheap by any means but as said, I get so much wear out of a pair of ... sandals that provided they lasted me the entire Summer and preferably a couple more summers too, then I knew I would get my money's worth and decided that the hefty price tag was worth it.
Every girl loves a bit of sparkle and these sandals certainly have that. They have a slight 'bling' look to them but as they are Next brand, they don't look cheap and tacky at all and really add a bit of something to most outfits.
These sandals are very flat with just a very slight raised heel but we are talking a few millimetres at most so not a raised heel by any means. The main part of the sandal is white with white and silver pretty beads covering the white.
The thing I love about these sandals is that they are perfect for day and night wear. They can add a bit of sparkle to casual daywear and look great with jeans and a nice top, but they also look nice with a nice summer dress in the evening.
I have quite small feet at size 4 and quite narrow feet too but these sandals fitted me perfectly and I had no issues with the shoes coming too large or too small. I had a slight 'rubbing' issue where the toe separator is when I first wore them, but after the first few occasions, the sandals were soon worn in and have been so comfortable.
I have worn these a great deal over the summer where possible. Obviously a shoe like this is only suitable for dry weather so I haven't quite gotten the wear out of them that I was expecting with the heavy rainfall this year, but as soon as we get a dry day, the sandals are on and I have pretty much lived in them when possible as they are convenient to slip on when popping out the house, they are really comfortable to walk in and look great with pretty much anything you wear.
These are slip on shoes and have no back to them at all but as said, these fit so well I have never had any problems with my feet 'falling out' of these shoes. Considering I have had a lot of wear out of them, they still look pretty unworn which is exactly why I don't mind paying a bit extra for a decent pair of sandals.
Overall, these are a fantastic pair of sandals that I know I will continue to get a lot of wear out of. They are so comfortable and look great at the same time so if these Read the complete review |
