“ Brand: Aldo „
I love a good sale and when it comes to shoes I tend to go a bit over the top with buying new pairs simply because I think every deal is a good deal! One of my favourite sales recently has been the Aldo sale simply because they have really slashed the prices on a lot of their shoes. I must admit I have too many shoes for one person but it is a luxury of mine which I am happy to indulge!
In a few of my reviews I have mentioned that I just adore patent shoes I cannot resist a pair of patent shoes especially if they are on sale! This review is no different! The pair I managed to pick up at half price are called Demar and they are made by Aldo.
What Aldo say on their website:
"Look amazing from head to toe when you complete your dress outfits with these incredible pumps. Creative upper design with peep toe and concealed platform."
I came across these shoes when I was looking in their sale section of the website a few months ago. I have a whole range of platform court shoes in a variety of colours and styles but what I liked about Demar was the curve type design to them giving a bit of detail to what otherwise is quite a plain peep toe shoe. The curved part around the heel goes up the heel higher than a normal pair of court shoes is quite a nice feature. Demar comes in either black or grey patent and I opted for the grey patent as I do have far too many black shoes!
The shoes are made of a synthetic material and not leather which for me I sometimes find that synthetic made shoes can rub my feet but Demar is made of quite a soft synthetic material which isn't as rigid as I thought. The patent cover obviously makes them a bit stiffer than if they were leather but the few times I have worn them they have felt perfectly fine although they don't supple up a lot after they have been worn which I find is a great benefit of leather.
The matching patent grey heel on the shoe is a typical slim stiletto heel and is around 10cm which is quite a substantial height. However, the concealed platform which although slim takes a bit of height off the heel making them easy to walk in. Because I tend to wear heels most days I am so used to walking in them so these shoes haven't been an issue. I like the fact that the platform is concealed and you can only see it by the peep toe part of the shoe.
The lining to the shoe is again synthetic and is a matt grey colour which matches the shoe. There is a little cushioning in the footbed and heel areas of the shoes which makes them pretty comfortable to walk in. Because the sides of the shoe are curved you do get a little less support than if the sides were straight but this isn't an issue for me but may be for some who do require that added support. The peep toe is quite wide so you don't have your toes crushed into a narrow peep toe which is nice but the shoe is quite narrow so if you do have wider than normal feet you may find these shoes slightly uncomfortable to start off with.
I have worn these shoes both to work and out and about and although the first time I wore them they did feel a bit rigid and it took a while to get a bend in them they soon gave a little. At work I am always on my feet and I found that these were perfectly comfortable but I did notice that the top of my toes were rubbed a little from the peep toe but nothing major and after wearing them for a few more times they haven't rubbed since but I am a bit cautious about it. They certainly do add a bit of detail to a plain black suit or even a pair of skinny jeans. The curve effect is the main feature of the shoe and I really think it makes them look different to most plain court shoes.
As I said above Demar is available from Aldo (www.aldo.com) and in patent black or grey. They were originally priced at £60.00 but have since been reduced to £30.00. Sizes are limited but they do start in a 3 and go up to an 8 so be quick to get a bargain!
