Advantages: good fashionable wellys
Disadvantages: not the best quality
Sorry folks as soon as I think of wellies I think of the welly song, just so all you Scots can curse me for getting the song stuck in your head and the rest can just roll your eyes I'll reproduce a verse here:
"wellys they are wonderful
wellys they are swell
cause they keep out the rain
and they keep in the smell.
and when yur sittin' in a room
you can always tell when some bugger takes aff his wellys."
Wellys are an essential piece of footwear for during the snowy weather, they range in price from the cheap and cheerful Asda George wellies which start at just £6 in price up to the green wellies favoured by farmers which can cost a serious amount of money. Me and my daughter both own wellington boots from Asda George range which have cost around £12 a pair and have served us well.
The wellington boots (to give them their posh name) are made of other materials which in this case is plastic with a fabric sock lining. The sock can start to peel away after quite a bit of use proving these are not the wellies to wear if you are a serious outdoors type person and need something more durable.
The boots are fairly easy to slip on as they are made of a reasonably flexible plastic, they are average sized around the calf so will fit an average sized person well. There is no strap to adjust the wellies so if you have very thin legs expect to feel a cold draught. There is plenty of room in the foot compartment for either a wide foot wearing thick socks or a thin foot wearing thick socks.
Thanks to the thick grips on the sole of the wellies these are ideal for use in the snow or ice as the grips make you feel secure when walking in the knowledge that you are unlikely to slip over. The boots are reasonbly comfortable to wear, the plastic is soft enough not to chaff at the top of your legs and the soles are nice and thick and springy. Your feet will sweat due to the plastic they boots are made from but the fabric lining cuts this down somewhat.
Overall the Asda wellington boots are a good buy and as they are available in a wide range of patterns will look funky too. A good pair of wellies for occasional use but serious outdoor folks will want a better pair.
Summary: good for occasional use
