Asda Wellington Boots
Advantages: CHEAP, STURDY, EASY TO MAINTAIN
Asda is a well known supermarket. As well as stocking food, beauty and entertainment products, most Asda stores stock a clothing range known as George.
The George range in Asda offers various clothing, accessories and footwear for adults, children and babies/toddlers. Whilst the clothing range takes priority, there is a small range of shoes/slippers available to purchase and the sizing is usually quite extensive.
Wellington Boots are ideal for wet and snowy weather. George have created a pair for infants which are basic and excellent value for money. These boots come in a navy colour and are available in infant size 4-12. The upper of the boot and the outersole and made from "other materials" with the lining and sock area being made from "textile".
The boots are mainly a navy blue colour and appear to be quite shiny and plastic like on the outer. Inside, a soft and very thin layer of grey material can be seen. The sole of the boot is slightly raised and silver in colour. It is firm yet not exceptionally strong and feels like a firmer version of the stuff used to make jelly sandals!
The bottom of the boot is silver and blue. There are raised panels around the bottom to help control the grip when the infant is walking. The design of the Wellington Boot is very plain..no fancy characters or bright logos.
===Availability and Price===
These Wellington Boots can be picked up online or in Asda stores. They are priced at a low £4.00.
Since my son was born 28months ago, we have bought and been given several pairs of shoes. At first, his tiny little feet spent time in booties and soft shoes before moving on to something a bit sturdier for crawling and eventually walking.
When he first started using his feet for something other than sucking or giggling at, we invested in a few high quality pairs of shoes such as Clarks. His first proper pair were £30 Clarks ones which barely lasted a few weeks before becoming too tight..they were passed down to my nephew but its still a lot of money for one pair. He was also bought a few pairs of Nike and Adidas trainers but despite how cute they were, they didn't fit him after a short time and the price was high!
With money being rather tight this year, I decided to purchase a few cheaper but still decent quality pairs of shoes for Ryan from George. My local Asda stocks quite a wide choice of George and I have rarely been disappointed by anything purchased from there. I decided to purchase some Wellington Boots for him as lets face it..it is the UK and the weather does tend to get messed up on a regular basis! I spotted some Thomas the Tank ones at £8.00 but they only appeared to have bigger sizes.
I will admit that the initial appearance of these Wellington Boots didn't capture my attention. The price tag and the good selection of sizes encouraged me to buy these. I picked them up a few months ago in a size 6 and also a pair of red and white trainers for £4.00 each. My thoughts were that if he got a few months use from them I would be happy. It is a few months down the line now and these Wellington Boots are still going strong.
I feel that they are quite well made and although not the sturdiest Wellies in the market, they do the job perfectly. My son has thin, chicken legs but quite long feet. When I first bought these for him, they were quite large but he was still able to walk around in them. They slide up over his foot and leg effortlessly and I can tell when his foot is secured as I can hear it sliding into place in the sole.
Despite the opening at the top being quite wide, my son can wear these comfortably with different clothes. His jeans can slide down the side and grip nicely into the top and his more comfy trousers can cover the top of the boot and finish at the foot part. The simple design and navy colour is so neutral that it blends in perfectly with whatever my son is wearing. They aren't too cheap looking which I appreciate.
My son is now a size 7 in trainers yet these size 6s still fit him perfectly. This goes to show that they are quite big made and will last for several months without becoming too snug. My son isn't one for jumping in puddles as he is a bit of a clean freak and hates being dirty! We do put these on him when its wet outside as his feet sometimes peep out from under the pram rain cover. The rain just slides off the boots and has never once managed to get inside and make his tooties damp. Although not brilliantly lined, these do keep his toes quite cosy.
Like any new shoes, walking in them for the first time can be weird but my son after initially finding them different from his trainers, got along brilliantly with them. The grips at the bottom allow him to walk with ease and he has never once slipped or tripped over whilst wearing these. They didn't make his feet uncomfortable like some new shoes can and he has never had any blisters or soreness. He usually wears quite thick socks with his boots.
The only time we did have an issue with liquid was on an occasion where my son had no nappy on..don't ask! He did his business and had nothing to catch it except the boot! Luckily it was only a dribble and I dunked a cloth in with hot soapy water and then turned it up to dry. By the next day, his boot was dry inside and had that "fresh shoe" smell again! They didn't get ruined which is great considering the price. On the occasion where the outer of the boot gets muddy or dirty, I simply give them a quick once over with a damp cloth. This restores them to their shiny self.
These Wellington Boots have lasted my son well and are used regularly as it rains a lot! There are of excellent quality considering the low price and are a complete bargain so I highly recommend them! Pink ones are also available for the girls.
Thanks for reading!
