Asda Woody Wellies
Advantages: Well made
Disadvantages: Leg size is a little big
When we came across these wellingtons in Asda I decided to buy them. To be honest my son does like toy story, but he was not a huge fan. The reason I decided to pick these up is because they were reduced to just £2. With many pairs of shoes from the George range I knew they were good quality and so couldn't walk past a bargain. Despite my son not being a huge toy story fan he was happy to add these boots to his collection. They have a large picture of woody on the side of the boot so he was instantly able to recognise the character branding on the boot.
They are bright blue in colour with a large woody sitting on the outside of each boot. We found these wellingtons matched most of my son's outfits which was handy, and he really enjoyed the design showing everyone his woody boots. He was a little disappointed there was no buzz but this was soon forgotten. They are of course made to be waterproof as they are wellington boots and we have never had any problem with them leaking or not performing well.
I find the sizing of these boots to be a little big. They are fine on my son's feet and the size 8 seems true to the other pairs of shoes we own. What we did find is that the leg of the boots is a little wide. My son does have thin legs but without his trousers tucked into his boots these are baggy on his legs and that put him off a little. This was perfect for our days out as it kept his trousers from becoming messy, but even when his trousers were tucked in there was breathing space so he could move around easily.
It does have a large heel so they are comfy enough for my son to walk in. He has worn them a number of times for visits to local farm parks where we know it will be muddy and he needs to keep his feet dry for long periods. There were no complaints at all when he needed to walk around for a large period of time so I believe they must be comfy enough. There is no wearing down of the sole and they have enough grips at the bottom of the boot to keep my son steady even on the slippery surfaces. They are hard wearing. My son tends to drag his feet a little but these boots showed no sign of wearing down. They did scuff a little but this was un noticeable unless you were up really close. Of course because of the rubber materials the boots can be wiped down very easily even with a huge amount of mud on them and they come up brand new again.
They lasted very well as my sons feet were growing fast he did grow out of them rather quickly. Being in sunny Scotland we still managed to get a fair amount of use out of these boots, especially for the small price I paid. We actually donated these boots to my son's nursery after we had use out of them as they were still in fantastic quality and they are always looking for wellingtons for the children to help with the school garden. We only paid £2 for these wellingtons which I think are fantastic for the months they lasted us. Usual retail is around £9 which I would be happy to pay for as I always find the quality high. I believe this particular design is exclusive to Asda so they will need to be purchased there. I would certainly purchase another pair if I came across them as my youngest son adores toy story and I know he would just love them.
Summary: A great pair of wellies
