Advantages: Good price, look great, comfy
Disadvantages: Not very versatile due to studs
I'm a massive fan of ASOS - their shoes in particular are amazing value and really on trend.
As most people will know, studs are huge at the minute and I for one have gone a little stud mad! When I saw these on the ASOS website around three months ago I instantly fell in love with them and although I already had heaps of studded shoes I decided that they'd be a good investment.
They were definitely an impulse buy and if I'm honest I wish I hadn't gotten them. Don't get me wrong - they're stunning, good quality & look amazing on, but they're not the most versatile of boots, unfortunately. Comfort wise they're incredible and I could easily wear them to walk to and from the shops or to town, but style wise they're very limited because of how eye catching they are.
If you're very grungy or like to stand out from the crowd in everyday life, then these are definitely the boots for you and they will be worth every penny, but I personally find them a little too over the top for everyday wear and instead will only wear them when I'm going somewhere special rather than wearing them to traipse around the shops or go to appointments etc.
The fact that these are ankle boots with a stubby heel rather than heels makes them ever harder to style because I wouldn't dream of wearing these to say a club or a house party, so they're really limited to certain occasions like the cinemas or a casual meal out, so I don't get a lot of wear out of them unfortunately so considering that I paid £35.00 for them, they've not turned out to be the best value for money. As I said before though if you are confident enough to wear these everyday & are going to get a lot of wear out of them then they really will be an absolute bargain buy.
The design of the boots is the basic Chelsea boots design - ankle high boots with elasticated sides. They're black & designed to look like suede but they don't look particularly authentic because the material is quite cheap looking close up, but from a distance they do look pretty expensive. I wouldn't say that the shoes themselves look cheap, just the look of the material when I'm looking at it closely. The boots are covered from top to toe in round studs. They're a nice eye catching tone of gold and they're very shiny. They don't look cheap or plasticy and they are securely stuck on to the boots.
The elasticated sides of the boots are the only part which aren't covered in studs, which I kind of like as it adds a little more detail. The boots have a small block heel which I'd estimate is around an inch and a half high, which is enough to give me a tiny boost of extra height but still very easy to walk in without feeling like Im balancing on stilts, lol. The thick heel feels secure and I barely notice that they're slightly heeled when I'm walking in them as they feel just like normal, flat boots due to how sturdy the heel is.
The boots are true to size and I have them in my usual size five, which are nice and snug but not overly tight. I have wide feet so was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and well fitting they are and they don't make my feet feel squashed. They're also not too tight around my ankles but not too loose either. I've got skinny little sparrow legs and my ankles are always too skinny for Chelsea boots so they flap around and look a bit silly lol but these are just right on me, so I think if you have larger ankles they may be a little tight.
Walking in these is really comfortable and the thick sole and soft insoles makes my feet feel really well supported if that makes sense. As these are made from synthetic material I was a little concerned that they'd make my feet sweaty but they don't at all and although I wouldn't say that they let my feet breathe they're not tight or anything. Styling the boots is pretty simple as long as I know where I'm going to be wearing them. I find the work well with pale skinnies, a maxi skirt or shorts and tights. They can be grunged up or mix & matched with girlier clothes - I had a lot of fun experimenting with them!
Overall, I give these boots four out of five stars. They're comfortable, look great, are easy to style and are pretty cheap. I have knocked one star off because I don't think that the design is versatile enough for everyday wear so I don't get as much wear out of them as I'd like.
