      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Worth every bit of the price tag. You pay for quality!

Since I've lost weight, I've been wanting to wear more dresses and shorts in the hot weather. But that meant I needed a good pair of sandals. I've had a few pairs of sandals before, but they were often cheap, and only had one strap, which caused them to slide off a lot while I was walking. I received a pair of black Birkenstock Arizona sandals for my birthday this year, which solved my footwear dilemma.

      COMFORT

My mum has a pair of these in white, so I tried them on last summer and found them to be incredibly comfortable, much to her annoyance. I kept borrowing them when I wanted to go out in a dress, so it was obvious I'd need my own pair soon.

When I first tried on my sandals, I thought they might be too big. But after a closer inspection, I tightened the straps and found that they did fit quite snugly to begin with, since they're new. The first time I wore them all day, one of the straps rubbed my foot quite severely, and took some skin with it. But now that the shoes are more fitted to my feet, they don't rub any more, and are very comfortable.

The two straps were the main selling point for me, since they were less likely to fall off my feet. There have been many occasions, with single strap sandals, where I've been walking along the road, and my sandal has slipped off and I've scraped my toes on the ground. With the two straps, I don't feel like I'm about to lose my shoes, and it's incredibly easy to walk in them. With some sandals, I find myself walking funny, in an attempt to stop them from falling off, but with these I can just walk normally and not worry.

      WHAT ARE THEY MADE FROM?

The straps of the sandals are made from Birko-flor, which is artificial leather. The lining is made from suede, which makes the insides very soft and comfortable. The sandals are also available made from leather, but these are a lot more expensive.

      Unisex

      COLOURS AVAILABLE

On the Birkenstock website, you can buy these sandals in:

      Black
      Blue
      Brown
      Grey
      Natural/Cream
      Red
      White

However, there are a lot of shoe shops that sell these, and a lot of them stock different colours, including some with patterns. Most of the patterns are flowery, great for summer.

      SIZING

You can buy these in either Narrow, Regular or Wide fit, depending on the shape of your feet. The sizes range from Women's size 2-9 1/2, and Men's size 6-13.

      PRICE

So, the reason I couldn't get any of these for myself, is the price. The prices do very depending on where you look. On Amazon alone the prices vary from £21-£85.64, although they are currently having a sale, and the prices are a bit lower. Amazon are sold out of a lot of sizes though.

My sandals came from www.cloggs.co.uk and cost £44.99, although if you want to try them on first, Schuh stock these, as well as many other independent shoe shops.

      DISADVANTAGES

The shoes can be quite uncomfortable to begin with when they're new, but they don't take long to stretch and fit comfortably. Annoyingly, it doesn't take long for the soles to start getting discoloured, I've only worn mine a few times, and there's already dark marks starting to appear. The price could also be considered a disadvantage, since they are fairly expensive, but you really pay for comfort with these.

      OVERALL

Although the sandals are quite pricey, I feel that they are worth the price tag. It's a good idea to shop around, and once you know which size you need, you can start to look for bargains online. They're incredibly comfortable, and they look fantastic with dresses and shorts in the summer months (when they arrive.) When I can afford to, I plan on buying some more of these in different colours. I definitely recommend them.
