Advantages: Light and supportive
Disadvantages: Not stocked in every shoe shop
My first pair of Birkenstock sandals and they're never off my feet!
For years I've been told by shoe salespersons that I have broad feet. Until one astute saleswoman said, "You don't have broad feet - you have flat feet!" I have fallen arches. I bought some padded inserts for my regular shoes, but still hobbled around in my regular sandals. Until this summer.
The beauty of Birkenstock sandals - 'Madrid' - is that they are supportive but light. Moulded to the shape of my foot, they gently persuade my foot arch to ......ARCH!
I have arthritis in both hips, and am relatively young. It may be that flat feet have contributed to my condition. I do find that the more support my feet have, the less pain I have in my hips.
Pounding the shopping malls and the supermarket is no longer painful and exhausting. I'm curious to find out if there is any long term benefit to wearing these sandals. I'll have to buy a pair of Birkenstock shoes for the winter months!
At around £30 these sandals are not overpriced for the comfort they give.
Summary: Birkenstocks are great for pounding the Malls

- 16/08/09 Comfort all the time and they are very good for your feet. Blow fashion although they have quite a range available these days. |
