Advantages: Split sole for greater flexibility, very comfy, pre-attached good quality taps!
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive, but within reasonable ranges for dance shoes I feel.
I was a bit sceptical about trying split sole tap shoes at first. Although used to dancing in split sole "sneakers" and jazz boots, I just couldn't imagine it working for tap shoes...how wrong I was!
As soon as I tried them on, they felt snug, and supportive, didn't slip, but were flexible...it was really like putting on a comfy pair of slippers!
I imagine, if you're not used to dancing in split soles they might take a bit of getting used to, but if you are used to spilt soles then I think you should have no / very little problem at all! Obviously, some people will always prefer to dance in full soled tap shoes, but having tried these I will never go back unless it's for regulation shoes or required for a shoe or something in particular.
The taps are pre-fitted which is a bonus, as you don't have to wait around at the cobblers to get them fitted, to find they've not been done right or how you want them! And the Bloch taps are really good quality too. The taps come attached flush with the sole, and I was advised to leave them like this for a few classes, as although the sound is not as full and rich as with the taps just slightly looser, I was told they would probably loosen themselves a bit...danced in them for 3/4 classes and they're sounding better and better, and i've not had to adjust a thing!! One very happy tapper over here! :)
Summary: Brilliant all round tap shoe, very comfy, great sound, very responsive!
