==Brantano Beach Essential Boys Shoes==
As soon as we came out of February jack was in need of some more new shoes and I begrudged buying any more winter type shoes seeing as the weather was getting warmer and any heavy shoes probably wouldn't get the wear out of them and his feet would probably be too big for them come the Autumn months. Therefore I seemed to be one of the first people putting their child in summer type shoes before the spring was even here!
These Brantano Beach Essential shoes jumped off of the shelf at me as they appeared to look both comfortable and practice at the same time and all for a very reasonable price of £12. Jack's size 10 feet fitted the pair we tried on perfectly even though his feet tend to be on the wide side these fitted like a glove and were worn out of the shop by him (after paying by me of course).
The shoes very light weight and do have a very summery type of feel to them. They are mostly made of a canvas type of material and it has a very appealing to Jack camouflage print on them. They are edged with a thick white rubber which is there to protect the shoes from scuffs and scraps that boys tend to put their shoes through. The two sections of lace that are on the front of the shoe are really there just for show as it is the Velcro strip fastening that really does the job of tightening and loosening the shoe away from the foot. This is strong enough to hold the shoe firmly in place even with Jacks chubbier than average foot.
Jack says the shoes are very comfortable and they must be as he is fairly good at walking quite a distance in them although we tend to stick to walking along the esplanade rather than off road hiking in these shoes as they don't offer the support that his higher on the ankle walking boots give him. They are really just like they are advertised as, beach shoes.
The light colours of the shoes do make them perfect for the summer but of course at the park on the black rubbery type of flooring they have there these shoes really have taken a battering and I am cleaning them more than I have done any other shoe. I can't say they are the easiest of footwear to clean as the canvas type of material seems to attract the dirt and hold on to it and a damp sponge is not very affective. The white rubber although looked good to start with didn't take much to make it look like the shoes were really old and worn out way before their time and already, only a few months on, they look like last years shoes and not very smart at all.
The shoes do however look cute with a whole load of Jack's little outfits and look especially good with shorts and no socks. However being sockless isn't always practice when walking further than down to the beach so more often than not they don't look that good with the shorts and socks combo.
So all in all I feel these shoes are good for the price just as long as they are kept for what they are advertised as, beach shoes. They can be worn for a longer walk but they won't last that long if this is how they are worn and don't' expect them to be looking as good as new within a few trips to the play park. They will certainly do us for the summer as Jack does have a pair or two of cheap Crocs that he wears occasionally and I will refuse to buy any more shoes before he is due to start school and wanting something black and smart. They are already looking worn and don't wash up very well so I guess as far as children's shoes go, they are not entirely practical. They looked good at first but perhaps not so much now.
I think for those reasons a fairly average score of 3 out of 5 stars is what I shall award these Beach Shoes from Brantano. Worth getting as they are cheap but not made to last and certainly not something that can be passed on to someone else when Jack has out grown them as they will most definitely be ready for the bin!
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
