“ Brand: Carvela / Type: Court Shoes „
Having had a major clearout of my wardrobe I quickly found myself out shopping and filling up that all necessary space with yet more items, mainly shoes! I never seem to have a problem with adding to my collection and seeing as I had, had a very hectic few months I thought I was entitled to treat myself.
Kurt Geiger is my usual port of call but because I don't live near a main store (Cambridge is my closest) I have to make do with either the website or John Lewis which is where I found a pair of my newest shoes. They are known as 'Aloha' and come in either camel or black and I bought the camel colour which like the black pair were in the sale.
"Aloha is a simple classic court shoe from Carvela. It comes in a patent shine with extra shot platform front and slender stiletto heels.
It will elongate and define your legs making them perfect for the evening."
Now I didn't buy my pair for the evening as I wear mine at work but I do find them incredibly versatile as the style is incredibly simple and they go with most clothes from a pair of skinny jeans to a pencil skirt. They do have that classic style incorporating the round toe and simple design. There is no bling, no bows, no fuss they are a good staple pair of shoes.
The heel height is 12cm high which is for some rather too high but for me I find the height fine. The heel is teamed with a platform which is around 1cm high and widens gradually. The platform certainly does take a little height off the heel so when you do wear them and in walk in them they don't seem quite as high. The heel style is a stiletto which because of being quite slim you may find you have to have the heel tip replaced more than say a wedge heel.
The main part of the shoe is made of a synthetic material which has a patent finish. For the price of the shoes (before being in the sale) I'd have wanted them to be made of leather but I did find that they were quite supple and soft and they were incredibly comfortable even when I wore them for the first time. They gave a little around the heel but I did find they were a little tight around the front of my foot to start off with and this gradually softened a little.
I do really like the patent effect on shoes but I do find it hard to keep the completely scratch free and this it is hard to keep them perfect and I have noticed already a few little marks. The heel is also patent which as lovely as it looks, the heel can easily be scraped so you do have to be careful when wearing them so you don't scuff the heel (best not to drive in them!) Fortunately, the platform is covered in a suede like material which contrasts nicely against the camel patent. The inside lining of the shoe is camel in colour and has a little padding to give comfort to the sole of the foot which is certainly needed in shoes this high!
I've not had these shoes for around 3 months and despite being a little tight around the front of my feet, the more I have worn them the more comfortable they have become. I do find them an incredibly versatile pair of shoes due to their classic style and I have found myself opting to wear them over other pairs of shoes I wear just because they go with most of my clothes especially my workwear (when not doing the horses!).
I paid a reasonable £39.00 for these shoes reduced from the original price tag of £120.00 so I do think I managed to get a bargain. After 3 months of frequent use they still look in great condition (apart from a few marks) and are comfortable to wear for hours upon end. Definitely a nice classic pair of shoes which are well made and will no doubt last me for quite some time. A definite recommendation from me.
