“ Brand: Carvela / Type: Court Shoes „
One of my obsessions in life has to be shoes, I just cannot help myself especially when I can find them on sale. However, my shoe obsession isn't particularly cheap as I have a love for Kurt Geiger, Carvela and Nine West. However, in my defence I do tend to find that the more expensive pairs of shoes in my collection tend to have lasted the longest and out live the cheaper pairs.
Recently I managed to pick up a lovely pair of shoes by Carvela in the sale at John Lewis. The pair in question are known as 'Anothertwo' and originally retailed at £95.00 fortunately for me however I managed to buy them at £35.00 which I thought was a bit of a bargain! Carvela is a high street brand but they do have a higher price tag than say New Look!
== Anothertwo ==
They are classed as a court shoe and for me ideal in the workplace. Now, I am not adverse to a decent pair of platform shoes and will and can wear a low platform to work if I know I'm going to be having an easy day but there are at times the need to wear a lower heel and something a bit more sensible. Anothertwo come in black, grey or taupe, all colours ideal for office wear but I chose the black being a colour I'd wear more than the others.
The shoes themselves (the upper part) despite their original price tag are made from a synthetic material which has a patent finish to it. Now for me personally, if I shelled out that amount on a pair of shoes I'd want leather as I can find synthetic made shoes quite tough and hard to break in. The lining is however leather which makes them a bit softer on the feet. Despite their classic look instead of the classic round toe Carvela have opted for an almond shaped toe which for me gives a nice amount of room at the front of the shoe for your toes.
The shoes feature a cone heel which is classed as mid-size as it is 9cm which I find an easy to wear height whilst at work and walking around town on my lunch break. I have worn heels for years and quite comfortable in them so 9cm to me isn't overly high. Being a cone heel they will wear slightly better than a stiletto heel but will need re-heeling quicker than say a wedge or block heel.

I've had my pair for a while now as I bought them when their price was reduced the second time and managed to get a pair in my size. Now on the topic of sizes I do find that Carvela can come up a little small. I'm a 5.5 and I find a 6 fits fine but do bear this in mind especially if ordering off the internet but don't go down a size as you will probably find them quite tight.
My shoes are still looking in decent condition but I do look after them both when wearing them and when not. Being patent they will scratch and mark easily so again you do need to take this into consideration as mine do have a few little scuffs at the side already which is a shame but can be easily buffed out with a little bit of polish. The heel has worn well as has the sole and I am in no rush to go to the shoe repairers as they have held up well.
Being made of a synthetic material I did find them a little tough to begin with and they did take a while to break in. Although they didn't rub enough to cause the skin to break for a few days of wearing them in I did have red marks mainly around the back of my ankle and at the side of my foot but the shoes did eventually become broken in and now I don't get any rubbing at all but they were certainly not the most comfortable to wear to begin with.
== Overall ==
I really do find these a smart pair of court shoes which go with generally all of my work outfits which is obviously great. They are incredibly comfortable to wear once broken in and the heel height for me is about just right especially if I am going to be on my feet for a while. However, if I had of paid full price I think I would have been quite disappointed given that (a) they are not made of leather and (b) they were quite hard and uncomfortable to break in.
Would I recommend? Well yes I would especially at the price of £35.00 because you do eventually get a lovely pair of shoes once broken in. But although I really like mine I wouldn't rave about them, their design is not unique and you could probably get a pair for the same price and would probably be a lot more comfortable right from the word go. Therefore, I can only give these 4 stars.
