A great pair of peeptoe platform shoes

Having a sister who has the same size feet as myself is definitely a bonus - it is even better as we have the same taste in shoes. Lucky for me my sister has a bad memory and will always leave shoes at my house for months (I don't volunteer their return!) meaning my ever increasing collections gets bigger but without my bank manager getting angry with me!

A pair which have been residing with me since the summer is a pair which I love and wont be volunteering their return in a hurry. We had both eyed the same pair of shoes but in the end I had opted for a different pair and she bought these. Galaxy are the shoes in question and are made by Carvela. She originally bought them for a wedding and I have since worn them on holiday and at various gatherings.

      What Carvela say:
"Galaxy by Carvela is a glamorous satin court featuring contrasting platform, stiletto style heel and open toe. The ideal statement style to finish off your evening look, these will not disappoint!"

The shoes come in two colours; black and gold but the pair I am reviewing will be the gold which is pictured. As the description states they have a contrasting platform. The gold shade has a patent cream platform and heel which looks really nice against the soft gold colour and does make the shoes stand out slightly however pale the colour of the fabric. The shoes are made of fabric which is soft but rigid enough to keep the shape of the shoe. The front of the shoe has a separate piece of material going over the open toe almost forming a bar type style. The open toe of the shoes is wide enough for your toes not to feel cramped or crushed.

The heel of the shoe is around 12cm which compared to some of my other shoes is quite low! Because the platform is a significant size the heel doesn't seem so high when you are walking in the shoes. The heel is a stiletto heel and from only wearing them a few times it will need replacing a lot sooner than wider heels. Because the heel is incredibly slim they can feel a bit wobbly especially as the platform is quite high. Because the platform and heel are patent cream they can scuff up easily and the marks do show up easily so you do need to be careful when wearing them which can be a bit of a pain as you are more worried about not scuffing the shoes than wearing them.

Because the shoes were already broken in by my sister even though she didn't wear them any more than about three times the fabric of the shoes had given slightly and they weren't so hard and tough against the feet which can be the case which then normally leads to rubbing. As I said the fabric is quite sturdy and I have worn these quite a few times and they manage to keep their shape well but are soft enough to be comfortable. There is even slight padding in the footbed and heel areas of the shoes making them a lot more comfortable for walking in.

Okay, so I didn't buy they have been in my possession for over four months now and have come in very useful as the gold colour is not too harsh and is quite soft in colour (think champagne). They are incredibly comfortable to wear as like I said above there is padding but what I don't really like but have got used to is the thinness of the heel when walking you can feel a little unbalanced which isn't great especially with quite a high platform. Generally it takes a while to get used to walking in them and even longer to not worry about scuffing the patent platform!

Carvela Galaxy are sold in all Carvela retailers such as Kurt Geiger, John Lewis and Debenhams. My sister purchased hers in Kurt Geiger where they originally retailed at £100.00 but are now in the sale for £69.00 and come in sizes 3 to 8. May be a bit on the expensive side for some but they are well made and you do pay for the name but overall a decent shoe.
