When it comes to sales I am a bit of a fiend especially when it comes to shoes. I just can't help myself and out comes my debit card! In some sales however I do manage to buy the shoes I have been hankering for but I haven't bought at full price because I don't have a justified reason to actually buy them but in the sale the fact that money has been taken off is the perfect reason for me! Despite having such a large shoe collection I can generally only manage this by buying the shoes in the sale so it may look like I spend ridiculous amounts (to some it still may) but I am a sale hunter!
A pair of shoes I had wanted since seeing them on their concession stand was a pair by Carvela. I didn't particularly need them but I wanted them - there is a difference! I had put off purchasing a pair for months as I really couldn't justify it. However, last year this gorgeous pair of shoes were put in the sale (they are still are) and knowing xmas and new year was coming up with various things I was going to I knew I just had to have them!
The pair in question are called Georgie and are only available in black which will obviously go with most clothes as black is such an easy colour to wear. They are classed as an evening shoe and I have to agree with this as I wouldn't want to be wearing them during the day as they are a little over the top for casual day wear unless of course you are attending some sort of event but in my case I was wearing them on a night out on New Years day.
What Carvela say:
"Georgie by Carvela is an on trend open toe court featuring block heel and platform. Subtle gem detailing injects additional glamour and gives an unusual twist, finishing off the style perfectly!"
Georgie are made from fabric which although is soft to the touch with an almost suede type feel to them they are quite rigid in order to keep the shape of the shoe. Sometimes I find fabric shoes can rub as the fabric has been made so tough but this wasn't the case with these shoes as I had no rubbing whatsoever and the fabric softened a little almost within a few hours of wearing them. The insides of the shoe are made from a synthetic material which is also black to match the shoe. There is a little padding in the lining which is nice especially as these are high, just makes them a little more comfortable to walk around in.
Georgie has quite a generous peep toe which gives enough room for your precious little toes to wiggle in. I find with a narrow peep toe my toes end up being crushed which normally leads to rubbing but this almond shaped peep toe is actually quite wide across the front of the shoe giving you a bit more room.
The detail on Georgie is really simple yet I think it really suits the shoe and gives it a bit of glam as without it the shoes would although look nice wouldn't be eyecatching. The little black gems are carefully stuck on to the front side of the platform underneath the peeptoe. They are small in size which instead of being a bit over the top if larger gems were used they look quite cute as they are so small. The rest of the platform has been enclosed by the fabric of the shoe except the bit underneath the peeptoe where the gems have been stuck on. The only issue about these gems is if you are bit abusive with your shoes if your not careful the gems will start to come off. I tend to be incredibly careful with these shoes, I even keep them in their own box so they don't knock into any other shoes just in case so all my gems are in tact!
The heel on these shoes is incredibly fashionable at the moment the same as it was last yet. The chunky block heel I find is great to walk in as you feel a lot more secure as you would do in a stiletto and as it's quite a wide heel you will find that you won't need to get them re-heeled as often as a thinner heel. The heel is covered in the same fabric material as the shoes - again be careful not to scuff them, definitely do not drive in them! The platform is quite substantial too which balances out the mighty 14cm heel! When I tried my pair on in the store they did feel really high but they were instantly easy to walk in because of the wide heel and the more I walked around in them the less high they felt. However, when I wore them the first time the arch of my feet were really aching and had gone a bit red around the sides (but no rubbing), since I have worn them a few more times the aching has gone.
As I said above Georgie are in the sale and were originally retailed at £120.00 which I think is quite a reasonable price for a pair of shoes especially from a brand. They are now reduced to £79.00 (Kurt Geiger) which I think is again still a very good price for this pair of shoes.
I've had mine for a few months now and the fabric has kept the shape of the shoe well, there is no gaping at the sides which can sometimes happen. Overall, they are incredibly comfortable, easy to walk in and they really do add a little bit of glamour to an evening outfit. I tend to wear mine with a pair of skinny jeans and the shoes make them look a bit extra special.
