A great pair of leopard print wedges

I think most of you who have read my reviews have figured out that I love shoes! My shoes tend to come from certain makes such as Carvela, KG for Kurt Geiger although I do have a few pairs from Topshop and River Island. I don't mind paying that little bit extra for a pair of shoes as I know they will last, I've had a few bad experiences in the past with cheap shoes being badly made and in the end I've tended to opt for quality made shoes. Carvela is one of my favourite places to buy shoes they are constantly brining out, up to date innovative shoes and I just can't help myself. Having friends that work in retail is a godsend though as it means I can get a discount so most of my shoes have been bought at a reduced price. One pair I bought at the beginning of this year was a pair called Growl, I couldn't resist and with a decent discount they became a new addition in my wardrobe. What Carvela say: "Take a walk on the wild side in Carvela's Growl platforms. Tapping into fashion's obsession with animal print, the daring metallic leopard print heels are off set by luxe suede straps. These sky high beauties will definitely give you a boost in the trend stakes." The first thing I should mention is the detail as this is what caught my eye immediately with these shoes. The wedge is finished in a leopard print fabric which has a cord type effect. The leopard print although striking is not bold in its colour which is what I like about these shoes as it is not so in your face. The other main part of the shoe is the intercut heel which is black and fits in the curve of the wedge at the back of the shoe, this adds some more detail which is a bit more unusual compared to your average wedge shoe. The shoe has an adjustable ankle strap with a little silver buckle which does fit nicely around the top of your ankle. Because it is made of leather it will stretch and you will probably use a different hole once the leather has softened. Other than the ankle strap the only other part of the shoe securing your feet is the straps at the front which although quite wide over the front of your foot there is a substantial peep-toe which is the width of the front of the shoe. The straps at the front are three separate straps just sewn together which gives little openings at the sides. The straps of the shoe are made of leather even though it is soft to begin with it does give a little but it doesn't become too soft. You will need to invest in a specialist leather cleaning product in order to look after the shoes, they are expensive and it would be a shame not to look after them. The lining of the shoe is like a dark metallic colour which contrasts nicely with the leopard print pattern and the black leather. As you can see in the picture there is padding for your foot which as these are quite high it is very welcomed and does take a little pressure off your feet. The highest point of the wedge heel is 14cm which is quite a height! But as it is a wedge and has a substantial platform they don't seem so high to walk in. However, when I tried them on in store they felt incredibly high and because of the limited support around my feet I did feel a little insecure and I had a few wobbles. But once you get used to the height, the platform and walking in a wedge shoe they are perfectly fine. I'm a real fan of wedge shoes as they are not as uncomfortable as wearing say a pair of stilettos as the wedge supports all of your foot so even after wearing these for a few hours my feet don't ache. I brought my pair of Growl on holiday with me so I could team them up with my maxi dresses as otherwise they would drag on the floor and they look great! Apart from the odd wobble I find them incredibly comfortable to wear although I would have liked a bit more support around the foot if I was being overly picky. I really like the design of the wedge heel as I like the black intercut heel as they look a bit unique. I'm really into animal patterns at the moment and even though the pattern on Growl is subtle because it is all over the wedge it adds some much needed detail and really adds detail to a plain maxi dress. The shoes are really well made and I can't see the straps coming loose any time soon. I'm glad however that I did get a good discount as I think I would have shyed away from them at their original price as wedge sandals do tend to get limited use due to the unpredictable British weather. However, if you are going away a lot to sunnier climes then these certainly should be tried on at least to tempt you! ~~~~~~~~~ Useful Info ~~~~~~~~~ Where to buy: Carvela concessions e.g. John Lewis, Kurt Geiger and Selfridges etc Colour(s): Black Size Range: 3 to 8 Price: £150.00
